I remember this man having 50% passing accuracy against Torino once.

Disgusting player, thank you for that one goal and bye (hopefully)

Nandez is a huge upgrade on Vecino. I’m not saying he’s a world beater, but I would expect him to put a decent shift at a couple of different midfield roles + RWB (hedges our bet on Dumfries, who has not impressed me at all). I think his most natural position is probably modern DM.

Hope we can make the deal happen as I rate his utility (for the right price of course).

Inter midfielder Matias Vecino could be on his way to Napoli during the January transfer window, and should he depart the Nerazzurri could resume their pursuit of Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report on a potential chain reaction of transfers involving the Nerazzurri midfielder.

Vecino recently made remarks in which he appeared to bemoan his lack of playing time for his club this season, and this could suggest that he will be on his way in January.

Among the most probable destinations for the Uruguayan would be Napoli, where coach Luciano Spalletti has made no secret of his admiration of the player.

The Partenopei boss had been the one to bring Vecino to Inter when he took over during the summer of 2017, and he had also reportedly made an attempt to sign him at Napoli as well when he took over this summer.

The 30-year-old has still not dropped off of Napoli’s and Spalletti’s radar, although the club would have to sell a midfielder in order to make room for him in their squad.

The player to make way could be Stanislav Lobotka, with the Slovak midfielder having failed to really make an impact since his arrival from Celta Vigo in January of 2020.

The 26-year-old is a player likely to be on his way next summer, but his exit could come even earlier if the Partenopei can find an interested club and wish to make space in their squad for Vecino.

The Nerazzurri are in a similar situation, with Nandez a player who is still a target, but unlikely to be brought in while the squad has the depth in central areas that it currently does.

Should Vecino be on his way, however, they could once again move to sign the 25-year-old from the Rossoblu, especially given that the wages that he had reportedly agreed with Inter in the summer, €3 million net per season, would be right around the same that would be offloaded should Vecino depart.

If we can get rid of Vecino and bring in Nandez (presumably on loan) in January, that’s a win in my books. I don’t think Nandez is a world beater but he has more positive attributes than Vecino and his ability to play a few different positions would be beneficial to us.

Only works for lower tier leagues or clubs that no one really pays attention to.

We don't have anyone we can deceive like this. It's also why Manchester United is stuck with all that garbage depth.

Fingers crossed he'll go to Napoli. Offloading a liability is one thing. Dragging our no.1 opponent's back foot will earn us another scudetto

In moments like these I wish we had some more useful midfielders than him and Gags. You know that he'll come on and just be there and be useless.

By now I don't care if the alternative is to bring back Agoume. Vecino has overstayed his welcome. Even Borja Valero had a stronger defensive presence than him.

What irks me is how ordinary Vecino is. He's just a classic CM with no special attributes. Even with bloody Vidal you know what he's good for and what he sucks at. But with Vecino you can't even name one fucking thing.

OUT.

Another report confirming that Lucky Luciano wants him:

Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti has made Inter midfielder Matias Vecino a target for the January transfer window.

This according to football agent Christian Bosco, who reported to Italian broadcaster Tele A that the Partenopei wants to bring in the 30-year-old as the club seek midfield reinforcements next month.

Spalletti is reportedly an admirer of Vecino having coached the Uruguayan for two seasons while the pair were together at the Nerazzurri.

The Italian tactician is still seeking a reunion with the midfielder, and his club could be moved to act by their injury crisis in midfield, with Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Fabian Ruiz both currently out injured, and Anguissa also set to miss a month while he participates in the African Cup of Nations.

As Bosco explained, the Partenopei coach has asked for his club to sign Vecino in January to reinforce their midfield so that they can shore up their title challenge.

“Spalletti, at least as far as concerns the midfield, made only one real request to [Partenopei Sporting Director] Cristiano Giuntoli in view of the reopening of the transfer window: Matias Vecino. The Tuscan strongly wants him in Naples as soon as possible.”

Last chance to cash in on him! GO GO GO

I hate Vecino, but actually he does have special attribute(s). Run into the box timing, and clutch goals, else he is pretty much useless. I don't think anyone will be against selling him.

TBH I was expecting him playing better this season, I guess if we play 1 striker instead and let him be the one who roams around (pretty much what Dzeko is doing), it might work, but again his quality doesn't justify that privilege.

His contract expires in June. Not sure if Napoli would pay much (if anything) for Vecino. Let's not make the mistake of extending him by a year just so another team would pay. Or we'd most likely be stuck with his wage for another year and find ourselves in the same situation again next year. We should count ourselves lucky if he will leave for free.

We can't afford an all-star bench. Fine. So we'll have Gagliardini for that role. Italian players know how to take care of themselves (think DDA & Rano). But South American players decline sharply after 32. Vecino is 30. It's time to move on.
