According to Tuttosport, Inter will sign Darmian in the coming days as this move was confirmed yesterday by Parma director Carli. The former Manchester United player will sign a four-year contract for €2M per season. Also from Parma, if Pinamonti were to leave on loan, the fourth striker could then be Gervinho.

This transfer window has turned from uninspiring into pile of shit in a flash. We are about to sell our supposedly 60 M defender for 40 M cash and his replacement is this trash and washed up Smalling or Milenkovic whose price will be hiked up astronomously :chan:

I'm just waiting for contract details. If it's 4 years or higher it will be not something to brag about, but something like 3 years or even better 2+1 would be ideal.

FIF should create new award called Overly Positive Member and you should be rewarded for 10 years in advanced. I cannot come up with a single good thing about signing Darmian and you can stay positive if he is granted 3 years contract :thumbsup::thumbsup:

ps. To clarify my previous comment. When I said "ideal", I don't mean I'm happy he is coming. I'm saying ideal as an alternative to 4 straight years. If it's either that or 2+1 then the latter I'm sure is much better to everybody, and he seems he is coming, and I doubt he will agree to 1 year contract or 1+1. So it's either 3 or 4 years I reckon and from those options 2+1 would be ideal, that's what I meant. Obviously I'm not super excited for him (although I think after Young, we should be less judgmental before we actually see the guy play for some time; on the other hand Kolarov's first match was not encouraging).

Long contracts helps the players to settle in well, specially when they're old and shit. It gives players a security that their club can't sell 'em, and could only get rid of em by paying them. And if their club dont do that, these players could happily sit on the bench for years and get paid for doing nothing. Inter seems to be the protagonist in this kind of shit show.

This is the biggest head scratcher of a deal we’ve done in recent memory. Even during the banter era when we brought in players like mudingayi it made more sense. Rocchi, Jonathan, Kuzmanovic, Taider, Belfodil. All these players made more sense then this move. Unbelievable.

This. Mediocre players shouldn't be given this kind of contracts. If we really need him now, why not throw him with a 2-year deal? Is there a possibility he rejects that? And then happens what? We say, "well bye bye then and hey Parma btw, we couldn't come to terms with Darmian, he asked for a ridiculously long contract".

If he came with at max 1.5m€ net salary, I could understand longer contract. That contract we could probably ship away later to some smaller club. But no small club will pay 2m€ net for Darmian even if he comes for free. Longer contract makes the transfer fee have less effect in his yearly costs but with 2m€ net salary, gross salary being 4m€ why does it matter if the annual amortized cost is 0.625m€ (4 years) or 1.25m€ (2 years) ? Difference is 600k€ and it's pretty irrelevant compared to that ridiculous salary of 4m€ gross.

If he turns out to be good this year or next, we could have always just extend his contract. It's really perplexing WHY are we going for a longer contract like 3-4 years. WHY!?
