I don't mind him as a backup. He's versatile and can play in both flanks. He's tactically superior to the rest of our wingbacks so keeping him wouldn't be the worst idea. I think he isnt that bad offensively either as long as we don't depend on him. I mean, as long as we have one dominant wingback a la Hakimi or Perisic for example, he would be more than okay as backup.

Yeah def would keep him. He's free, won't expect salary increase so modest salary and he can be used as the reliable backup to wingback positions and time to time even in side-CB roles when needed as a sub.

DDA type of a player, average player but always play with their heart when given a chance, not a fucker like Gags.

Cash him out. Not impressed.
First of all. He would hardly fetch any money if sold to a lesser club.

Second, his contract runs out next summer.

I would extend as he's flexible (and free to acquire). We probably won't have big budget to work with so Darmian is good enough.

He was alright, better than what everyone expected his first season here.

However, no reason to extend him. 2 years ago he could start instead of Hakimi a few games in a row and do decently. He can't even bench Dumfries nowadays. Let his contract end and let go.

Sorry. I thought I'm in Raoul Bellanova's thread. Was referring to the kid.

I think 2 years is fine for Darmian. He's a class act, his game has never been about physicality. Although he's had quite some injuries in his Inter career so in that sense, it's a bit of a risk

I don’t see why we need to keep him and D’Ambrosio around. What’s the point?
we are broke as fuck. that's it.

even though Darmian deserve the new contract for a short term contract (1 year only)

both are too similiar role, i choose Darmian imo because he provide more over D'Ambrosio who looks decline

No money and the other 2 guys on the bench who are not completely worthless and useless coming off the bench….

I mean a 1 year extension with option for 2nd on lower wages would be great…. But at the end of the day we don’t have bargaining power because we need players and can’t let them all leave for fee at the same time.

GdS: Inter are set to offer wingback Matteo Darmian a 2 season contract extension. The Nerazzurri can take advantage of the Growth Decree tax benefits in making their offer to the 32-year-old, and will offer wages of around €3 million net per season. o_O

3M is a bargain, given Inter pays stiffs like Correa and Lukaku so much more. However, if this is true, its yet another sign of fiscal and mental bankruptcy by ownership and management.

The equivalent of that is around 2m net in normal case (like Correa) but it's still too much. The point of having these players is to push the costs down. We should save in these cases. Darmian is just a backup player, that net salary is simply too high.
