Valid points raiden but there's also the possibility of Jovetic leading the line with Palacio/Eder as back up. Guess it all depends on de Boer and how he sees things, does he want an Icardi-like player to spear head the attack? Or can he work with the other strikers. Sadly, time is not on his side.
Of course I'm talking with the assumption that the management will not replace Icardi if he's sold.
Hmm if Jovetic stays injury free the whole season but I do not think we will take that risk.
No idea what kind of player Milik was at Ajax but perhaps he was similar to Icardi - a fox in the box.Perhaps that might answer how De Boer will play and whether he needs an Icardi type upfront or not.
Not sure though because I did not see much of Ajax.Lets see what happens because this Oscar deal seems tempting but do we need Oscar?Won't Banega play as an AM?Interesting offer.
No. It's wrong.
Eto'o first season was under Mourinho and he was deployed more as a left wing. His main job was to support Milito more than to score goals on his own. Eto'o on the left was as important as Maicon on the right. In the second season after the World Cup, Milito became injury prone. Eto'o was played by Benitez as the main CF then it continued under Leonardo that Eto'o became our main weapon.
From what I remember of that season , Eto'o and Milito started upfront with Sneijder in the hole behind them and Eto'o not being in the best of forms for the 1st part of the season. He even missed a 1v1 with the Gk after running free from the halfway line.
He was then used as a Lwf at Stamford Bridge and from there onwards he started playing there.
Again I could be wrong and you right about this.
The point was about a striker from abroad needing a season or part of it to settle and adapt his game to our league.
