I'll say from the outset that I was one of the supporters that backed Icardi when many other posters had rightfully turned their backs on him. For a long time, I feel that Harpsabu and I were the only two poster making a defence. I appreciated his goal scoring feats and the fact that he kept us afloat during our darkest days. I also had a dream that he would remain with us for the rest of his career and smash all scoring records.

However, there came a time when Icardi's refusal to play and Wanda's television antics and negotiating for a new contract could no longer be ignored or defended.

I was thinking about the trajectory of his career last night and wondered whether he had any idea at the time that being Inter's Captain and a leading goalscorer would ultimately be the high point of his career.

Even today, I cannot help but feel that he wasted his talent and career by getting involved with Wanda and gave up on being an Inter great.

And yes, Mauro and Wanda well and truly deserve each other but that does not make his fallout with Inter and footballing downfall any less sad.

Same for me. I was on Icardi camp till he faked an injury and refused to play. Since then i was done with him and wanted him out. There was no turning back from that. It's a shame really because he could have been remembered as a modern Vieri. But he let Wanda ruin his career, both at club and international level.

Yep, agree with both you guys. I used to get so pissed off when people said icardi was the issue with our attack not scoring many goals, even when he was hitting 30 goals a season. Even when we were selling him I still thought it was stupid and for a low price. Time has proved marotta very right here thankfully.

Feels bad still to see this man absolutely waste what he had. For a long time he gave absolutely everything for us.

Someone find this man a woman and a buddy to take care of him.

So none of the clubs that have a stake in him can afford to find him a buddy until he weathers this shit?

Surely even someone here in this forum can help him out, for a decent amount of money as well.

Crazy to think this guy isn't even 30 yet.

Maybe if they actually get divorced he'll channel his energy back to football and have a respectable end to his career.

It is crazy to think that his situation with Wanda has not been reconciled or resolved and he is still doing the same stupid shit.

Leaving Turkey and flying out to Argentina to try and win her back shows where his priorities are. Somehow, I do not think he wants a divorce and football will always be a secondary consideration. His career as a top flight footballer is well and truly over.
