Yeah what a weird assortment of players we have. Goalscoring midfielder who does little otherwise, and a non-goal scoring forward who does everything but score.

It seems to me like he’s still a little bit off the pace physically. Doesn’t seem to have the sharpness in front of goal. Oddly seems to lack balance at times, which is a sign of age. He’s still good in build up phase and no way a liability.

Perhaps he will improve as the season goes on. He could definitely use an open play goal to get his confidence up. He was scoring regularly in preseason prior to the injury. I know it’s preseason but he should at least be getting in positions to score more, which he has not been doing.

Whatever severely modest level of excitement around this guy is fading rapidly.

Had a few early games where his fitness and energy was refreshing in contrast to the lethargic Arnautovic, Sanchez and Correa, culminating in the win against Red Star where is closing down was key.

Since then he’s been a non-factor, completely uninvolved and having zero influence on the games. He’s not getting on the ball, he’s not linking up, he’s not even getting into positions to take a shot, let alone score.
