Next mercato is going to be as crucial as the one in 2011. It will be the decider between staying competitive and entering a new banter era. We need so many things. Minimum a starting forward, De Vrij upgrade, at least two midfielders and a Ranocchia replacement. And the task will be even harder if we need to make at least 60m from sales.

It's time for Marotta, Ausilio & Co. to earn their salaries. It's easy to look good when you have money to spend but now they need to show they can also do it with limited funds. We need to be very smart in the mercato else we're going to have dark days ahead of us.
Which is why I'm both extremely interested in this summer and also feel like I want to shut off from the mercato completely.

We can literally go from getting rid of Sanchez and signing Dybala to replacing Bastoni with Romagnoli. To steal a slogan from last year, I M terrified.

With those parameters, basically we need to sell one of our core players.

I fear selling De Vrij and Dumfries (and loanee kids) won't be enough. Unless we sign just some old free agents or loan players.

I was thinking about the same. This summer mercato will be decisive for the upcoming seasons.

I just hope we can somehow avoid selling a star.

For fuck sake! Not again!
Last year the same fucking discussion! Exactly the same only different year!
Wow!!! Without Conte, Eriksen, Hakimi and Lukaku we are fucked! With Limone we won't get in CL! Because, you know, all the other teams are upgraded! And the coaches: Allegri, Mourinho, Sarri, Spaletti!
At he end, who fought till last day for the scudetto? Us and Milan!

Yes, this mercato is important. We need a replacement for Perisic (he may leave), Dzeko (geriatric, but acceptable as a substitute), Sanchez, Vidal and Vecino!
And I don't have a problem if they sell a star, if they are able to invest the money wisely.

We have Gosens already

Dybala, if he stays fit, will be a good replacaement for Dzeko, Sanchez+Caicedo we could probably consolidate into one player, same with Vidal+Vecino IMHO.

We already have gosens. If perisic leaves I have no concerns there at all.

We absolutely need a striker. We need someone to help lautaro. We need another striker that can guarantee 15-20 goals.

We need a vice brozo and a player who can rotate barella and hakan. So two at least.

Bremer would be a dream in the back, he's incredible.

I'm concerned about our keepers next year. Handa was way below his high standards this year, as you would expect at his age, and onana is a gamble.

Marotta specifically mentioned threes a number of free agents we are evaluating. Who do we think they are? Dybala for one, bernadeschi?

Also, I really hope we don't sell skriniar, barella, brozo, bastoni and lautaro. The others, I don't care.

This is the part I don't agree with. Gosens has a history of fitness issues. Also, Perisic this past season was one of the five best players in Serie A. He was dominant and our best player. Gosens isn't capable of achieving that level, and if Perisic leaves or regresses we'll struggle to find that production elsewhere.

Which is why, to your second point, a new striker is the utmost priority. We need another dynamic player with pace.

Free agents we could be considering:

Cb: I can only think of Denayer but i doubt we would go for him.

DM: Grillitsch perhaps? Though we are heavily linked with Asllani so i am not so sure. Grandpa Witsel? It would be stupid. Guy is done.

CM/AM: Bernardeschi and Mhki perhaps. Tolisso? Isco? Doubt it.

SS: Dybala obviously

CF: Belotti? Lacazette? Surely not.

It's only a matter of time until the Belotti links begin.

What history? He had one injury then atalanta rushed him back before he was ready. He hasn't missed more then 1 or 2 games a season in his history in serie a.

You are also aware that in the 2 seasons before this one goosens has goal contributions of 17 and 15. Ivan had 15 this year. To say goosens can't contribute at the same level is madness.

I say it again, I don't have a problem with selling stars, if we find adequate replacements. And don't forget, Zhang could not invest a dime, again.

Let's say ,we sell Lautaro to Atletico for de Paul and a consistent sum of money. Assuming Dybala would come. With that money we could buy Scamacca. An attack with Dybala, Scamacca plus Dzeko and Correa as substitutes is quality. Comes Dybala because Laustaro is also here ? I don't know how good amigos they are.

We have a good midfiled trio. If we add de Paul and let's say Torreira (pure DM, can help Brozo) we have quality and depth.
If we sell de Vrij and bring Bremer, our defense will be really stong.

This is just an exemple. I don't know how feasible it is. But I want to say, we don't have to be stubborn to selling star players. If we have a plan for replacement and also ugrade the team, why not. Marotta surely don't have a problem.

First of all, the mngmnt have to clear, which one will be sacrificed if any will be at all. Our most valuable players at the moment are Lautaro, Barella and Bastoni. I believe, it'll be one of them. The next question mark is, who will be the most easiest to replace? For me, this is Barella. I clearly do not want to sell Bastoni, as that kind of player is so rare nowadays, and I don't think that we can find cheap and quality replacement for Lautaro. So, it remains only Barella. We can sell him easily for 80 mln at least, and get some good player/s. Definitely it will be a downgrade, but if we strengthen ourselves in other areas, the negative effect should be minimized enough.

My official mercato predictions:

- Perisic to juve on a free
- Conte demands de Vrij and a €50m transfer is agreed but falls through after de Vrij changes his mind at the last second (de Vrij stays and eventually leaves on a free in 2023 after costing us another scudetto)
- Dalbert returns from loan at Cagliari, contract extended to spread out the cost of amortization
- Sanchez and Vidal terminated by mutual consent, golden handshakes of €5m each
- Bastoni out for €45m + €10m in difficult-to-attain bonuses
- Romagnoli in on a free transfer, €5m wages on a 3 year contract
- Ranocchia out, Acerbi in for €5m + full ownership of Casadei (no buyback clause, obviously)
- Pinamonti out to Torino for €25m (with a mandatory buyback clause of €40m in 2024)
- Mkhitaryan in on a free transfer, 4 year deal with €4m wages
- Dzeko contract extended by another year because Marotta decides it's cheaper to pay his wages than sign a new player

Did I miss anything?

- Kolarov extended for another year.
- Satriano, Esposito and Zanotti sold for a combined fee of 10m. Luiz Suarez arrives, 5m wages on a 2 year contract.
- Inter fail to reach an agreement with Dybala, alternative Bernardeschi.
- Inter fail to reach an agreement with Torino over Bremer, keep De Vrij instead and extend him for another 3 seasons.

Marotta
— Lautaro is sold in the final week of the mercato and is replaced with Edinson Cavani, who will often feature alongside Dzeko.
