I've thought about this a few times, even written about it before...how history could've been different, at least in that '21-'22 season, if Thuram doesn't get hurt playing for Gladbach (in a game they got blown out in against Leverkusen) in the last game before the transfer deadline. Everything indicated that move was set to happen, and while his record that season wasn't great (3 goals in 21 games), obviously that was post-injury, an injury that doesn't happen if he transfers here before then or is held out on account of the impending transfer.
And it has knock-on effects. Probably handle Dzeko business differently, probably never bother going back for Lukaku on loan last season, as good as Thuram was in 2023-'24 he would've been in Inzaghi's system for a third season by then instead of one year so that would've likely meant better performance...fuck I hate thinking about this so I'm gonna stop.
