Broha how can you be comfortable with reducing the quantity of our midfielders, even if the quality is increased?

IMO we need to keep every midfielder we have and then bring in at least one more CM who is better than Gagliardini/Vecino.

We can replace Valero as he is basically serving as a crutch for a midfielder in the current roster. Vecino should also be "replaced", meaning once again, he's fucking more than useless and a better midfielder will actually at least contend for a starting spot. Gagliardini is another one that could be "replaced". If the coach is using you only in an injury crisis you can't really say we have "depth", depth is where you can change the team on the go based on form and specific tactics you want to implement in a game. We don't have that with Valero, Gags, Vecino.

I dont think quantity is the problem. Weve got, for example, valero who has barely played this season. We are realistically +1 midfielder on what we need atm, we just need to increase their usefulness.

Gags does not look like he is gonna make the grade unforuntley

A tier below with likes of lazio, roma, fiorentina or return to atalanta may be his level

Gagliardini back to Atalanta in the Kulusevski deal? Not even a big step down in quality, they’re a top 4 team and he’d arguably play more, as I don’t think he’ll see the pitch anywhere near as much once Sensi (sigh) and Barella are fit and we get our midfield reinforcement.

Vecino back to Fiorentina would be a dream move too. I wonder if he actually knows he is a better fit for a team of the level of Fiore rather than a big club.

With 2 injuries, we have 4 midfielders available for 3 spots. That's not too bad. The problem is the quality, and not numbers.

The ones to leave are Valero, Gagliardini, Vecino in that order.

Vecino + $$ to Fiorentina for Castrovili.
Gagliardini + $$ to Atalanta for Kulusevski.
Politano + $$ to Sassuolo for Joga.

Reminds me of €6m + Muntari for whoever it was.

I’m always skeptical about this kind of thing because it's not economical for such teams to accept our players in trades. They'd prefer straight up cash for any of their players rather than player exchanges. They'd prefer to spend that money bringing in cheaper, younger players who they can develop and make a profit from.

There's also the question of convincing our players to leave, which is another hassle in itself. How many times do we hear a player say he wants to "prove himself"?

He seems to be good but I don’t think many here would want him because he is only 21.

Any of you guys seen anything of Kevin Agudelo at Genoa?

New James hopefully :)

Still 2 seasons away from making the jump. Motta is developing him into more of a box to box and not a South American #10 which is way more helpful.

This shit takes time and even successful teams struggle. Look at Barca, on one hand, they seem to have a bright future, but they have been schooling the kids for 2 decades now for them to be ready when the time comes.

And even with that, plus having a freaking alien in Messi there, they haven't won everything every year.

Gonna be interesting to see how and if this CL exit affects our mercato. Imho if we would have stayed in the CL we d have been inclined to spend big in jan in order to stay competitive in both serie a and CL, plus ofcourse the advancement would have given us another 20/30 mios in revenue so we d have some money to spend.

With us only playing EL for the remainder of the season i m not sure big investments would be smart. First of i dont see us collapsing to the point where we miss out on CL i m also not convinced that we ll be able to keep up with jube even if we spend big and i think with the current squad and a bit of luck we can already go deep in the EL. Yes we re gonna need a midfielder capable of passing the ball for the remainder of the season no matter what but i hope we can lure an old player either on loan or on a very short contract.

With prices in Jan usually higher than in summer and teams more reluctant to part ways with their top players I m not sure it s smart to spend big this jan.
I just feel like the most likely outcome to our season atm is that will finish second in serie a and probably reach the semis in EL whether we spend big in jan or we dont.

...why must you tempt fate sir? :)

This team is always up to the challenge of trying to snatch defeat from the surest victory. A qualification battle on the last day is practically tradition at this point.

I dont want to win everything every year. I dont even want to win the Scudetto or CL. I want to be competent, by competent I mean qualifying for the round 16 when you have everything in your hands.
