If Marotta and Suning will be around, probably just Brozovic.
I really don’t get the hate you have towards Bepe. When he came in at December 2018 we where a totals shitshow of a club. We were struggling to even get Champions League football with coaches as De Boer, Spalletti and Mazzarri to name a few. We gave out loads of money at total shit such as Barbosa, Mario, Gags and Kondogbia.

In the first season under his whelm he appointed Conte (where a lot of people where against). He sold that fuckface Icardi who didn’t want to play for 4 months for us (!) for 50 million (what seams as an absolute steal now), and bought Lukaku. There was, again, a lot of criticism for this. We finished second and reached the final of the Europe League. The season next we won our first Scudetto in 10 years.

He also had to deal with Covid in a club witch was already leaking money. So we had to do something. He sold Lukaku for a record price to Chelsea (and is able to get him back on almost nothing) and sadly we lost Hakimi too. Despite everything in the summer 2021 we almost got the 20th Scudetto.

I’m not saying everything Bepe did or does is something I like. But Suning is expecting some kind of sustainability (and I can’t blame them), and Bepe is the one who has to deliver that and keep us competitive. A very hard task if you ask me. And I think he is doing a great job for the time being.

Don't have one.
Genuine question: how many of Skriniar, Barella, Martinez, Bastoni, and Brozovic do we think will still be at the club by 2024?
The better question is how far along we are to pay that debt. Coz that's what this is, we are selling our best players to pay for the deal zhang made with the devil, aka the vulture fund.

R. Carlos because of Hodgson. Skriniar almost because of Conte. Etc. We should learn some things by now.

Depends - If the coach wins, and consistently competes well I am of the view of the coach. Fuck them.

Players are little bitches, and always feel like they're entitled to an opinion on the everyday business of the club.

At the same time, if a bigger or better offer comes they drop their panties quicker than Kim Kardashian for the next IT thing and leave the love of their life.

Just stating how things work when you fuse him and the Zhangs under these circumstances.

Can you tell me how many key players we sold when Marotta wasn't here but we still had to come up with 50m at the end of each June?

How many players did we have back then that were worth 50m though.

There was Icardi, Handanovic, Skriniar (end of 1st season), Brozovic and Perisic in 2017 when this started being an issue.
None of them were sold by 2018.
We also had the failed transfers of Joao Mario, Gabriel Barbosa and a few others.

Didn't have to be 50m exactly, but even 35-45m from any of those could have made it far easier than what Ausilio had to pull off to maintain the team's core.

Kondogbia was sacrificed but mostly because he wanted out.

We're in the mercato strategy thread. No point in arguing that this isn't just part of the strategy. It's not the first time we saw it.

What Ausilio pulled off in 2017-19 was fake plusvalenza in order to comply with FFP. In the last two years we need actual money. Entirely different situation.

We don't need actual money this summer otherwise we wouldn't be rushing to close all our deals early and committing to all these transfers.

The loan repayment is in October anyway. They want to cook the books with a lot of sales for some reason.

Yeah. The rush to get everything done till end of June is really perplexing. There's something dodgy there. And i fear we won't figure out what's really going on till we learn (if we ever do) about the terms of agreement between Suning and Oaktree in terms of budgeting goals.

I have a long list of grievances with Marotta. I'll caveat this by saying he's obviously better than Sabatini, or any of the other Banter-era nonsense that we had. However, the Banter era shouldn't be the bar. Anyway, here are my complaints, in no particular order.
  • We haven't extended de Vrij, and now he only has one year left on his contract. We can't keep letting players (Brozovic, Perisic, Skriniar) get to the point where their contracts are on the verge of expiring. It eliminates both our negotiating leverage and our ability to sell the players for a healthy fee. We're going to end up getting close to nothing for de Vrij, or giving him a risky extension.
  • We continue to only pursue Serie A players. If you look at all our recent signings, very few have come from outside of Italy, and very few would meet the definition of "innovative." We keep going for boring, experienced players. Many of them older and on elevated wages, and it's killing our wage structure.
  • We took the proceeds from the Lukaku sale last year and proceeded to waste 30M on Correa, a forward who can't score, and giving Dzeko massive wages. The other name we were linked to was Zapata - another aging, injured, Serie A experienced player. Now look at our situation - we're desperate to offload Dzeko and Correa and need to sign two strikers.
  • We failed to meaningfully reinforce the squad in the middle of a Scudetto race. We signed an injured Gosens and took Caicedo on a free loan. Is this Suning's fault? Sure, but Marotta could have done better if he went shopping for players on free loans to reinforce the squad.
  • We have a complete lack of creativity in trying to navigate our various financial difficulties. We always resort for the lazy, easy option of selling one of our jewels for an underwhelming fee. I've complained about this
We should be in the middle of a mini Serie A dynasty. Instead, we'll be competing for a UCL spot next year. Suning deserve the most blame out of anyone at this club, but Marotta is increasingly culpable as well.

It probably has to do with a potential new loan deal Suning wants to get.

@Adriano@10 @.h. @Pimpin @ADRossi all love this subject so I'll let them tag along.

Unless we do believe that Oaktree set a list of budget requirements per season. Which I doubt makes any sense.

Is it Suning's Inter loan or Suning's China mainland loan?

I could be wrong but I don't think it was Cuper who sold Pirlo?
He was sold the summer Cuper arrived. Decision was probably made by then due to lippi & tardeli's mishandling of him.

Bremer doesn't seem to be coming.
Why? Because we haven't closed the deal by 17 June when the mercato closes 1 September...
It will be a tug of war with Cairo but Bremer will 99% be an Inter player by the end of the mercato.
