We had a choice for one of Lukaku or Dybala. Inzaghi and managment went for Lukaku. I think we might be glad about that choise if we see Dybala missing half of the season with injuries? Lukaku bring us much needed speed and counter attack ability, which we lacked last season. Lukaku is also more natural scorer than Dybala and have good connection with Lautaro. So I think that was right move in the end, even if I was against it at first! I think Dzeko and Correa are good subs to have as I expect LaLu play 75-80% of the games.
Also Dybala crying end of his last game was
At least Lukaku wanted to come here and he is no dirty Juventino! Lukaku can also create space for other strikers/midfield. We could see Barella/Hakan/Mkhi score more next season?
My first choice start of the merecato was Bastoni and Skriniar staying and now that is a possibility, so missing Bremer might be a blessing? But we still need see how end of the window go? Those big offers might come in the end of the merecato, but do we have a enough time to replace those who might leave? I also think Casadei will be good player for the future, so I’m glad if we can keep hold of him after Bremer deal failed.
If we can get Milenkovic or similar quality cb and keep De Vrij for his last season I think we have improved our defence. I rate Milenkovic higher than Rano.
Our defence was second best (one goal behind Milan) even when De Vrij had a average season and difficult year overall with those legal battles. We might also see better version of De Vrij this season?
Lazaro also seemed sharp at left wingback role and could be useful next season? Dumfries might be sold with Pinamonti? Dumfries offer might come after world cup? But I think Gosens, Bellanova, Darmian and Lazaro can do the job.
I’m liking our midfield depth as Asllani seems good enough to cover Brozovic which we lacked last season. I think Mhkitaryan will need some time to adapt Inzaghi system, but I think he will be good sub next season (Vidal level?). He is better scorer than Vidal and had good stats last season with 5 goals and 6 assits.
Also Onana seems to be clear upgrade to Radu? So if Handa get injured we have a good backup.
I’m interested to see will Inzaghi improve at his second season? I’m liking how we play and we can create lot of chances. Even if we had the best attack last season with Lautaro-Dzeko we missed boatload of good chances every game. If we manage to score 1/3 more of those chances we will be fighting for a another scudetto. Inzaghi could also use that 3-4-1-2 formation against smaller teams or tight games for last 30minutes?
So overall I think we have managed to improve our squad with minimal budget and we managed to lower our wage bill in the process. So I think our managment Marotta, Ausilio, Baccin have done damn good job. 90% of FIF disagree but It’s all good
