Marotta has doubled down on the fact that our mercato is finished.

Not impressed to be honest. A 4th striker, even Keita Balde, would have left me a lot more reassured about the upcoming season.
You mean fifth striker? We already have Lautaro, Dzeko, Correa, Sanchez. Satriano will be our 5th striker.

I don't even know how we would have included 5th striker, we would have had to drop a midfielder. I think I rather have 7 players for 3 positions than 5 players for 2 positions.

I just assume Sanchez will be dead until after January. We also clearly needed a vice-Dzeko, just like we needed a vice-Lukaku for 2 years.

Waste of a year for Satriano if he's staying here IMO, he'll barely get Esposito minutes.

Apparently Sanchez might be available after the break. Where did a 5 month lay off come from?

For the upcoming season, we’re pretty ok in the forward department. A wide range of skill sets and experience. My biggest worry is if one of our CB’s goes down with a long term injury. Rano or Dumbo are fine in a pinch but over the course of a few weeks or months? We’d be fucked.

I'm gonna list here the lineup with the contract statuses / predicted renewals / player situation in next summer (2022). My predictions.

GK:
Handanovic -> retirement
Radu
Cordaz -> free agency

Defence:
De Vrij
Skriniar
Bastoni
Ranocchia -> free agency
D'Ambrosio -> free agency
Kolarov -> free agency

Wingbacks:
Darmian
Dumfries
Dimarco
Perisic -> free agency

Midfield:
Barella
Brozovic -> renewal
Calhanoglu
Sensi
Gagliardini
Vidal -> free agency
Vecino -> free agency

Forwards:
Lautaro
Dzeko
Correa
Alexis -> contract termination
Satriano -> on loan

Goalie situation can go totally differently, Handa could stay as 2nd and Radu sold or whatever but we're gonna sign a new 1st keeper for sure (which is the most relevant thing when it comes to goalies anyway).

Defence should stay as it is, but our defence will be overhauled completely. I guess Vanheusden will come to replace Ranocchia. Then side-CB backups have to be addressed somehow. If we continue being cheap and if Pirola plays a super season in Serie B, I guess he could be an option for the left side? (Darmian and Dimarco can backup there too occassionally). No idea about the right side.

Midfield will need some backup options too. Assumption is the starting midfield will be retained with the Brozovic extension. Vidal and Vecino will probably walk away for free, though I can see a scenario where Vecino is extended if Inzaghi is happy with him and we are being cheap.

Top3 forwards should stay with Lautaro extension. I predict Alexis will leave either with contract termination or then just free transfer. I feel club is fed up with his fitness and high salary.

Mercato finally concluded and here is my Estimated Squad Cost.
Overall, in my opinion, Beppe Marotta, Ausilio and co. did very well to bring the club condition to financially "safe" (for now) while maintaining the sporting side of the squad level remain balanced although arguably it remains to be seen.
They were able to meet that ridiculous target that was set by Zhang, which is cutting the annual cost down to ~20% and bring ~€80m in capital gain (which I thought practically impossible when the Mercato start).
Let's hope we get an even better season, Forza Inter!

Great post.

I am a huge fan of balancing the books, allowing the team to get a strong balance and hitting the market in time.

If rumours are correct and management already looking at quality FA targets, I have hope we will continue to be competitive. Hoping Dybala leaving juve would be a cherry on top.

I know we contract terminated a lot of crap players. But really happy to see only 1 real senior player out on the loan list in Lazaro.

rest are youth prospects.

i mean hopefully can dump Kolrov , Vidal, Sanchez in the winter. Also Vecino and some of their guys contracts expire in the summer.

haha no one posted on his so forgot he existed

man the amount of money we got hustled on LB/RB flops is out of this world.

we could have gotten 3 world class players for that or at least be less broke now

Guardiola spent more money on a few of these guys. One became Juventus' bench player (Danilo), the other was turned into a wide center back (Kyle Walker), the other was loaned to play against them in CL (Angelino), the other barely plays (Nathan Ake), one's in prison (Benjamin Mendy), there's Joao Cancelo and this Zinchenko fellow still plays most of the time...

Sure, he's trigger happy in the market, but there's no guarantee that a big signing will turn out good. We were lucky Hakimi did, but for the same price Joao Mario did not.

Biasin hinted we could move for two players in January. He didn't say anything about positions.

On unpaid loans, I'm sure.

I would want a midfielder and a striker.

isn't he more of an AMC? Also United have Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, obviously it would be hard for him to get playing time. Even Rashford can play AM, but he's injured anyways
