God I never wanted so much a rich Shjeik to take over Inter..

It's TWO MONTHS till August, what's the rush seriously? And they may be doing something "behind the scenes", you never know that.

The rush is that the player we need and want the most is just about to be snapped away and we haven't even entered negotiations yet.

2 months till august. That doesn't keep Barcelona and everybody else from buying class players?

HOW? Have any of Barca or Udinese management talked about it? NO! Moratti DID talk about it, we have 60% of signing him, remember? Don't get carried away from papers' shit.

N1991, don't be pathetic. You have to believe in our management, they did wonders in the past, they can and I'M SURE THEY WILL do it now.

I don't want Kaka in Inter. I don't like ex-Milan players. And he is 29. With FFP coming in, we need to look at players under 25, they can serve us for longer. And definitely no 29 year olds that would cost us like 30 million euro (in that case would be 10 mil + 15-20 mil to find a replacement for Maicon if Santon will not be good enough) There is already gigantic amount of older players in the squad - as things stand we need to get/grow new top class players in at least 6 (probably 7 since JC will leave too) positions within next 4-5 years at most.

But... what is happening this summer is really worrying. We really seem to be slow on boarding the mercato train. Where were we for Mexes? Could've dealt with the problem of replacing 4 defenders that are nearing pension fast and could've sent one or two of them away. And if he wasn't going to be enough to be top class starter, he would've at least been a great sub to have. It seems quite clear that our team hasn't been involved in any negotiations other than those to bring Nagatomo (and that Kharja bloke...) here permanently which was obvious thing to do some 1-2 months ago already.

mexes is 29 :palm:

Italian super agent Antonio Caliendo believes Inter Milan sports director Marco Branca is one of the best in the business.

Caliendo expects Branca to pull off another signing coup this summer.

He said: "The market for Inter? We will see Marco Branca do something great, for sure something will happen - like every other year.

"I hear you say that Inter has let slip Hernanes and Cavani, but you cannot say this. Cavani, before joining Napoli had not exploded, Hernanes is doing well at Lazio, but at Inter who knows if he would do so well anyway?"

Completely agree with Caliendo here. It would have been far from certain Cavani would have pulled the same stuff at Inter he did at Napoli. At Napoli he was able to be the top dog, the star striker who starts every game he wants (if fit enough). At Inter that wouldn't have been possible with Eto'o and Milito ahead of the pecking order for Cavani (before the start of last season). Also he played primarly as a center-forward, not a winger role he would have probably been positioned at Inter.

Udinese president said Barca are the favorites? Juve second. Then mentioned English clubs. Nothing about us.

Yes probably cavani wouldn't have scored 30 goals for inter like he did for napoli and the same thing can be said about hernanes and his 10 goals but on the other hand they would still had contributed to the inter cause way more than coutinho and biabiany/pandev that were choosen before them in the summer.
I agree in getting cou instead of hernanes looking at cou's prospect and the high fee of hernanes in comparison but Cavani was a huge missed chance for inter last season and as pazzini demonstrated later it wasn't even so hard taking this milito's place in the starting spot.
Anyway let's hope for the best this summer cause the first impression is not so optimistic. The important clubs that want south american players will buy them before the coppa america cause probably the price of the various banega , sanchez etc will go higher after the 1st of july...

Mexes was free.

yea and his wages will be low as well... He'll definitely earn 4millions and that's way too much for us and moreover, we don't need him.
Transfer fees are the smaller problem for us this summer, having FFP in mind.

I somehow have a bad feeling about this mercato. It started all so good, but the longer it goes the more I have the feeling that we won't buy anyone great.

And the mercato hasn't even started yet. :D

But really guys, back to reality. We are not going to put same kind of money to single players like we did back in the days. If we can't get coups like Eto'o or Sneijder, we aren't getting the top class players. Sanchez IMO isn't in that range, and if he goes for ~30m€ + Bojan (which I doubt for several reasons) that is an overpayment for potential. Like bibonzo suggested, the prices mentioned in the media would suggest we are getting a top class player who has shown consistent performances and has euro-experience. Sanchez might be close to top class player but he has one great season in Serie A under his belt, nothing more.

If other clubs come and overpay, we can't do anything about it. Inter is not going to overpay like hell anymore, those days are fucking over. When you guys get that, it's much easier to understand our mercato strategy.

Do you know our market strategy? What did Mr. Branca told you?

Fact is mercato started, the mercato is open the whole year. What you referr to is the window we are allowed to register players. Other teams are making deals, we just talk.

And you say everyone is overpaying? Maybe it is cause we are underpaying. You can't get a player in whom several other teams are interessted for a fair price, strangely we are interessted in such players and seem surprised if it doesn't work.

I know Branca and co did some smart deals in the past, but somehow it seems as if they think that every deal has to be like Sneijder or Ibrabitches. I am just concerned.
There are enough players who get transfered for quite small money.

My only concern is that it seems like we are just interessted in players where there is a 99% possibility that only a team which overpays can get him but seem surprised if we can't get him for a lot less plus some crappy players of ours, but players like Inler, Isla, Costa and so on which can help us too are of no interesst.

Well it is just that it seems maybe we are working on some great deals in the background. But the fact that we have an old team is entirely our fault, the fact that we have a crappy midfield is just the result of ignoring our midfield department for several years.

Hehe. That's the whole key of the talk we have in this thread for like 2 years now. Some people think that we are the only one on this planet earth who value the players right, and everybody else(or most of them) are overpaying.

Well, maybe it's the other way around. Most teams are acting according to the market that we have these days, while we're the club who is underevaluating.

Anybody thought of that?
