Alasdair Gold:

football.london understands that the club will return with another approach for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar this weekend.

The Serie A side wanted £45million for the Slovakian, while Spurs are looking to spend closer to £32million plus add-ons and a compromise will have to be found if the defender, who is very keen on the move to Spurs, will make the switch.

Inter boss Antonio Conte admitted that while Skriniar is part of his plans his club needs funds to make their own signings and Tottenham will be hoping that helps their quest.

Tottenham have other options as football.london understands they are also looking at making a move for Juventus' 22-year-old central defender Merih Demiral.

The talented Turkish centre-back saw last season disrupted by a cruciate ligament injury but he had been mostly on the bench for the Serie A side before that.

There is also interest in Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger, but any deal is believed to be fraught with complications for the 27-year-old German.

A bit unrelated but could anyone please tell me why people rate Demiral so highly?

He almost never played, and then he had a serious injury, then almost never played again. But I keeping hearing noises about how great he is.

Dan Kilpatrick (Spurs court reporter) has an article in Evening Standard that Spurs will indeed will come back to Skriniar after sealing Carlos Vinicius deal.

We need to stay strong here, there is not enough time anymore to

a) sign a proper replacement
b) use that plusvalenza well (otherwise, what'd be the point of selling?)

Article is here: https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1601632298

I think it's most likely they will put a bid, it's not enough and they go for Rudiger.

We literally can't sell him now with our lack of depth at CB surely. I know we are crying out for plusvalenza but still... I doubt spurs can afford him. We better not succumb to some shitty offer and deal just for plusvalenza.
If we do, that cyclops beppe will have some serious explaining to do

With this scenario I'm not a fan of him leaving.

But if it means that after we sell him we get Kante, I don't know... We all saw in Lukaku what a player wanted badly by the coach can do. And if Kante clicks like Lukaku did, gonna be scary for everyone, even us, I don't think our brains can withstand such quality :D

But (yeah another but) our defense will look ridiculously weak with only two properly good defenders.

Too many buts and ifs... For 60 millions they can have both Skriniar and Vecino lol, I'd be happy with that, ofc if Kante comes... If not fuck Tottenham and fuck their reality tv show/documentary that started to pop up on my youtube feed since we started talking about them...

If there is a chance of selling with decent money and where we can still reinforce the team, it's a no brainier. If we can't as there is not enough time it would most likely hinder our season, although that's not certain. On the other hand we might not get the same deal in January / next summer so it's a puzzle.

If we sell him we would need a defender first. We would literally have only one player (D'Ambrosio) who can play that position.

Skriniar is one last test for Marotta if he sells a world class cb like Skriniar it is a clear sign that he doesn’t know what he is doing and needs to be sacked before he destroys Inter. If he needs to sell someone he can sell Brozo, Sensi or Vecino since they are useless either becuase of injury in the case of Sensi and Vecino or inconpetence in the case of Brozo.

My man, you never cease to make me laugh. Vecino is useless because of injury? I think hes more useful injured.

Darmian just had his medical and sadly we have to assume he'll successfully pass it.

Selling Skriniar now would indeed be a joke though. We gonna head into next season, playing 3 at the back with 3 CB's in the squad? Wasn't Conte bitching about squad depth last season? So why are we deliberately sabotaging the one area we had some genuine quality and squad depth?

If anyone thinks that kicking out Godin and Skriniar and replacing them with Darmian and Kolarov is an upgrade, they have a mental illness. That's a significant downgrade both on the pitch and in terms of our squad value. What's next? Replace Lautaro and Lukaku for Pandev and Okaka?

If you think his injury is a blessing why is he still at Inter?

If we sell him on the last weekend of the mercato, the entire management team should be publicly executed. If we were going to sell him, then it needed to be tied to the signing of a quality replacement and not this fucking Darmian/Kolarov nonsense, and the time for that has passed.

If Skriniar sold, we break the bank for Milenkovic. Even as Skriniar number 1 fans, i agree to swap Skriniar with Milenkovic.

Milenkovic would be a great replacement, but i dont think Inter would spend 50M, even if Skriniar is sold for 60M. There's only 3 days left of the transfer window and if Skriniar is sold I am pretty sure Darmian is his replacement as Dambrosio would be a starter. Everyone knows that Skriniar shouldn't be sold without having an agreement with some other good CB, but we are Inter, so nothing can surprise me anymore.

If you consider what kind of players Conte has wanted Skriniar won't be replaced by Milenkovic.

Milenkovic is 22 year old newbie. Conte wants proven champions like Vidal. So Skriniar money will go for Kante transfer.

Fabrizio Romano: Carlos Vinicius to Spurs is also official. Still nothing advanced for Toni Rüdiger - Skriniar is the main target but deal with Inter is still ‘complicated’. Inter would accept €50m + add ons but there’s still no agreement

Hakimi and Bastoni say hello. Lautaro also is no veteran.

Conte wants balance, not 35 average first team age.

But who will replace Skriniar then? Because neither D'Ambrosio not Darmian are proven champions. In fact, the only defender we had that was a proven champion is the one we let go first in Godin.

Skriniar will be replaced with Gary Cahill, a true champion.
