I guess my point is imho something changed during our transfer window that our directors did not expect... Wether that was Zhang not greenlighting deals or wether that was Lukaku or us chasing some other BS we could not pull off remains to be seen. Might even be that teams pulled out of deals we thought were just a formality.....

But i do think we had a very clear plan going into this transfer window we just for some reason did not go through with it......
Yeah most likely that one.

But thats just ignoring realities.....
Like yes we can keep the club alive without selling him this season but in our situation we cant make losses season after season and think we wont have to sell star players...
We can with different owners...Not the only club in the world making big losses but the only big club "forced" to sell star players...

My guess of how things might have gone?

Inter started negotions with De Vrij and if I remember right I saw one report that Inter offered De Vrij only one year contract to 2024. So I guess the plan was to sell him this summer and try to replace him with Milenkovic (similar quality) with lower wages and possible small profit.

De Vrij declined that offer and I can’t blame him. So negotions have been stalled. I bet our managment was sure someone would come and make a offer for him? Well that didn’t happen. So no Milenkovic or similar player and I have to say that is surpriced me that there isn’t any interest for De Vrij?

With Skriniar I think our managment wanted to sell him too this summer as we need to make big profit ~60m and they wanted to keep Lautaro, Barella and Bastoni and replace him with Bremer (similar quality).

I think our managment did not renew Skriniar contract at spring cause it might have given a wrong signal to other clubs, that he is our main guy at defence? I also think our managment have respect for Skriniar and have told him what our financial needs are for this summer and that he might be sold if good enough offer comes? So it would have been weird to renew him and then sell him after just couple of months? I bet I will get many smartass comments about this speculation ? But this is pretty common behavior in sports, when club needs to raise funds. Club and players talk about their situations. Some times players want to leave and sometimes clubs need to sell.

We had agreement with Bremer and the idea was to raise money and get cheaper and lower wages replacement to Skriniar.

I think our managment was sure that many clubs would be interested about Skriniar and they might get bidding war going? Well the lack of interest for Skriniar have surpriced all of us! He is at his peak and is great player with one year left of his contract… Now we know PSG made that lowballing offer 50m or something? No other offers. We can see what happened to Bremer after two clubs go war to sing him… €50m offer for a player who had one great season.

We did not have a deal with Torino and we did not have premission to make official offer to Torino as there was so little interesst for Skriniar? Maybe in the end Zhang gave premission to make official offer when Juve sold De Ligt and they made Torino that offer, but It was too late and no way we could match that Juve offer! But if we had gotten great offer early for Skriniar I think he would be gone and we would have Bremer now!

I know this long ass post is probably total bs, but I try to reason what has happened and connect the dots?

Window is still open and other teams know of Suning financial problems and that we are bleeding money, so it might be that we get some late offers at end of the merecato?

I’m in seventh heaven if we can keep Skriniar and Bastoni and find some other solution to keep them! I’m not dreaming of any high profile sinings like Dybala or Bremer. Acerbi is fine for me if that means we can just keep our core players.

Sad but true.

Missed out on sensational transfer targets. Dybala and Bremer. To make it worse, losing both of them to our direct rivals. Getting shat on and ridiculed by their fans. Oh my. The humiliation.

What can we do about it? Just pretend that Skriniar is our new signing. Just pretend Lukaku is a better player than Dybala. Ah shit, just thinking about this farcical Lukaku dry loan deal makes me feel even more depressed now.

An opportunity to sign a world class forward like Dybala for free doesn't come too often. He would have solved our search for an established striker to partner Lautaro for at least 3 more years. But of course we fucking blew it. After this season ends, it is very much unlikely for Lukaku to remain. We are broke as fuck to resign him on a permanent deal. Regardless of how well he performs this season, he will surely return to Chelsea. If he had a stinker of a season, we wouldn't want to extend his loan for sure. If he had a solid season, Chelsea would want him back and give him a second (or technically a third) chance for sure. After all, they wouldn't want to look like total idiots after spending crazy money on him.

What happens then? We sign Higuain.
Yea man you fkn nailed it. We so fucked up this mercato I dont see this club recover and being relevant in a long time.

Define relevant? If you don't think this current team is challenging Scudetto then you are just blinded by recency bias. We are still in a better shape than Milan as things stand.

The problem is that we're giving a feeling of a downtrend whereas no other club in Italy has this feel. Remarkably, we still did better than last year in every competition not named Serie A.

Juventus is stabilizing somehow, Milan is steady and looks toward a brighter future, Roma is getting on the upside since last spring, Lazio is as irrelevant as always, Atalanta are here to stay for the next few years (for top 7 spots)... There's only Napoli in a relatively bad mess but they're still a top 4 candidate.

Media also contributed to this mess, whenever it comes to Inter they'll roast us or exaggerating situations and undervaluing our stars.

Heck when Juve had financial problems they never report some bs like they did to us, I'm talking about Football-IT, Calciomercato, GDS and other Italian media.

It’s easier to get uptrend going if you are so shit as Juve and Roma have been. Pretty much only direction they can go for is up?

We all know our financial difficulties so what exactly are you expecting, as we are bleeding money like 100m a season? You try so hard to make our financial difficulties to Marotta fault and paint a picture of us failing on everything? We just won domestic double and finished second, we lost to Liverpool on CL which is not a shame. Season before that we won Scudetto. I really liked how we played last season under Inzaghi and I think he is a good coach for us and we still have superior team to many teams in Europe. Lautaro-Dzeko played too much and we got tired with busy schedule. Now we have better player Lukaku.

But even with some uptrend, Roma is still pretty shit and one Dybala won’t change that and Mourinho must pull some serious rabbits out of his ass if they want to challenge for Scudetto.

Milan missed Botman like we missed Bremer, but somehow you are praising them? They have also not got Renato Sanches who is their another top targets and might miss him to PSG?

Who else they got? Mighty Origi? He has scored like 17 goal in last 3 seasons? You would laugh to Marotta if we would have gotten him instead of Lukaku

Who else Pobega? I think he is downgrade to Kessie. Tonali is good player and Adli, Benaccer, Diaz… would they get to our lineup?

Pioli has done a miracle last season, with overall really average team. They have few good players like Maignan, Theo, Tonali and Leao. Zlatan is big piece to their confidence, but I think it will be really hard to keep this momentum going much longer with that group of players? Couple bad injuries to those core stars and they are in big trouble.

Juve got some good players but we have to see how they do as they have been so shit for few years now? But yeah it’s easier to build good team if you have the money. One thing we don’t have with Suning.

Napoli, Lazio, Atalanta are average compared to us.

Kind of agree if back in jan before the dybala and bremer rumours were made somebody told me we d get lukaku keep all our big players and sign aslani and bellanova for depth i d be quite happy...
Imho the expectations of us getting Dybala lukaku and bremer have shifted expectations so much that what was a pretty good mercato now is looked at as a bad one.
That being said we still desperately need that 4th cb other than that cant complain about our mercato..
Jube arguably did batter but also took big and expensive gambles on Pogba/di maria and bremer...

Kounde to Barcelona might be bad for us if Chelsea buys Kimbembe from PSG. Let's hope they buy Mukiele from Leipzig instead.

someone reported yesterday that Laporta said Kounde is not going to Barca but to Chelsea, but can't remember who that was or if it's true or not

I still wonder if PSG was really convinced on purchasing Skriniar. We are talking about a club that will pay for the player it wants.

Maybe this is known, but I think this was more about Inter shopping Skriniar to PSG and insisting on their price.

If this is the case than it doesn’t make much sense for PSG to pay Inter’s valuation for Skriniar knowing that Inter needs to sell to acquire its own targets. Also knowing that the player has 1 year left on his contract and is playing for a selling club.
