I don’t know about that. Many players took time to break into that City starting 11. Cancelo, Ake, Phillips, Grealish, Gundogon all took time to settle in at City. Akanji was able to do it very quickly, which I think says a lot.

I think it says that apart from Cancelo whose issues were tactical and Gundogan who had 2 serious injuries in his first season (and kinda started all games he was available), the rest aren't good enough players.

Ruben Dias is the only proper defender they have and it took him 2 seconds to get in the squad.

It's just that Guardiola decided to change setup to have Haaland and as many of his offensive midfielders in the lineup as possible and shifted to a back three to do so for some bizarre reason and he now has to play with just one guy who knows how to defend...
