He will say No. If PSG has to pay 20M€ then his bonus will be much less. Inter has absolutely no pull right now.

Skriniar can milk the maximum out of the situation. Wait 5 months to get all that signing bonus. Try to win Coppa too and call it a day in Serie A.

It looks like FM and it is.

In this case, put him on the bench for the rest of the season.

We are not gonna do that because he's our best defender. There are 20 difficult Serie A matches to secure CL and Coppa has 3 very hard fixtures to arrive at the final. Not to mention Porto in CL. Its too late playing these embarassing child moves of benching a player for 5months , because he won't agree on a 6M contract while PSG is offering 50M€ over 5 years.

The mistakes were made last summer when PSG was flying over our headslike a vulture and submitting bids. Why on earth we waited so long and now lose our best player for nothing. 70M€ player!

A painful slap on your face lesson.

New trand: "Nobody is bigger than Inter"
You can use it any time, it doesn't matter if it is correct or not.

Iven if we are bankrupt and dismantled nobody is bigger than Inter.
yes nobody is bigger than Inter
Yes Internazionale Milano FC is bigger than Zhang, zhang family, some who are board of directors, and his compatriot.
Interista should remember that.

This management blaming posts are ridiculous. Guys have decades of experience in managing teams and you think they would overlook one of their most valuable assets? 😅
It’s no longer speculation it’s a fact now or at least the most likely scenario that Škriniar is about to leave the club for free.

Yeah that's probably the most likely scenario. But according to some news Inter didn't receive any offer from PSG. There are also rumors that Zhang blocked the sale. In either case you can't blame the management bar Zhang if the latter is true.

If Marotta´s best transfer was getting Pogba for free and selling him for 100 million; where does losing Škriniar for free when he could have received 50 million 5 months ago qualify in his list of dealings?

I don't really get why people keep blaming the management either. If Skriniar's demand is in the range of 8m-12m plus 20m (?!?) signing bonus, it is always out of our budget, sooner or later. Had we started the talk 6 months earlier, do you think he would agree on much less money?

How would we do differently if it was Skriniar himself delaying the new contract as he was waiting for better offers? Skriniar did not leak a single word about his true intention at that time ffs. Not a single fan would have thought he wouldn't extend his contract, because "loving Inter so much, new Hamsik" and such.

If you wanna blame, blame us for being piss poor. Blame the one who keeps rejecting offers despite not being able to afford.

I can't speak for others but this is why I personally blame the management:
  • despite being one of, if not our best player for years, they've repeatedly tried to force him out and sell him - that too, far under market value, and once in the middle of tight title race

  • as we all know, they see players as nothing more than assets on a balance sheet, and their lack of planning and botched de Vrij renewal forced them to move onto the next asset to try and sell - Skriniar - after ruining another asset in de Vrij

  • they had the chance to renew him for significantly less - by all reports, a mere €4.5m, but did not take the opportunity

  • when they DID have the chance to sell Skriniar for a respectable (but still low) €50m, with a ready made replacement in Bremer, they did not act. Their comical incompetence lead to us missing out on both Bremer and any transfer fee for Skriniar

  • per my previous post, they posture as if this is a matter of principle and of finances, but at the same time they've wasted exorbitant amounts on failed transfers of Lukaku, Correa, Gosens, and expensive golden handshakes for Conte, Vidal and Sanchez. As I've mentioned, they've just renewed a completely useless player in D'Ambrosio for another TWO years as well - money that could've been far better spent

After such shamelessly inept allocation of enormous resources, how dare they act like they like they can't pay a loyal servant and one of our precious few WORLD CLASS assets another €1m? All the while holding him to some Hamisk comment from years ago like it was some kind of binding agreement
The fact that this posturing is actually working on some of you is bewildering and disappointing. You're entitled to your own opinions but as far as I'm concerned, you've all fallen for the classic Marotta move of blaming the player. I'm just shocked to see it's worked on so many of you.

To add insult to injury, we've apparently gone running back to de Vrij (who has been absolute garbage for 2 years now) and tried to accelerate his renewal. Oh, and we've also apparently offered Smalling a contract of €3.5m, which is more than what we're paying Skriniar

It's like we're going out of our way to give him a giant middle finger with every move we make.

Some of your stories are not really true though.

- We did offer Skriniar 4.5m but he didn't sign it. Because he knew he would get more elsewhere.

-Let's be honest again, if Inter would have sold Skriniar for 50m, or Inter technically traded Skriniar for Bremer last summer you guys would be the first who burnt Inter HQ for selling Inter future legend. No buts and ifs, the only solution which make you happy was Skriniar signing the new contract; which is now obvious that he does not want. Well, with hindsight it is easier to say.

We did make mistakes with other transfers, sure. But two wrongs do not equal one true. Breaking the salary structure plus the hefty agent fee for a defender extension is a mistake, imo. The next time we are extending another player, he will ask for a similar treatment which will either bankrupt us soon unless there will be a change in the ownership.

I don't really buy the media bullshit that there is only 1m gap between our offer and his demand. What you will see soon, that he is getting much more than what we can afford.

Absolutely right. Everybody here, including me was convinced that PSG's 50 mln are too low, because Skriniar will renew. I guess the management was on the same page, and due to that they mishandled the situation.

Reports say Zhang rejected a sale of 50m. And that PSG never offered more.

And indeed, this place would have been livid if we sold Skriniar at the end of the window for 50m and replaced him with Milenkovic or Akanji.

If Skriniar leaves, of course management is responsible too for the fuck up because well, they are responsible. But Skriniar talked in the summer how he wants an extension, talked about Hamsik. Signals are totally different to what the actions are if he then walks away for nothing. Can't NOT lay any blame for the player.

I just want him to sign for PSG so this nightmare will be over. Sell him too before the window closes instead of losing him for free but please don't panic buy a shit CB in his place or bring Smalling from Roma or resign De Vrij to a big $$$$ control for a long time period.

We fk'd up really hard let's move on. Our girlfriend kept waiting for her engagement ring and she took a better offer from a richer guy. She can go fk herself and move to Paris. Dead to me

What sort of information was Marotta and co operating under? Why are you comparing your information/ speculation to people who are being paid millions to render their opinions and make big decisions?

WTF is this?

Marotta is paid the big bucks to operate and make the big decisions.

If Marotta went to Steven and said , let’s wait a few months and offer 6 million to Skriniar and he will likely renew and failed to assess other scenarios such as PSG offering a big sign on bonus then he shouldn’t be the CEO. Because his job is to assess risk, canvass opinions, and make the best decisions.

This, Marotta is getting paid 6m a year iirc and people are giving him a pass for these. Ohhh his hand is tied, ohhh he wouldn't have known that Skriniar wouldn't renew. Well it's his fucking Job to oversee all these things, it's not like Lukakus move where he was blindsided on the 11th hour; he had the whole fucking year to renew or sell.

Sell Skriniar was out of question last summer, since we could not afford another defender of the same level, not to mention that Bremer would not sign any contract with us since he probably knew that other offers would have come before the end of mercato's session.
Don't forget that Bremer signed a new contract with Torino only 6 months earlier the last year, in january 2022, if he really wanted to join Inter he could have left Torino as a free agent but he didn't.
Also Skriniar could have forced Marotta to sell himself to PSG, since their wage offer was far more superior to any wage at Inter today, what was missing was the bonus at signing he would have taken as a free agent just one year later.
So no one is to blame here, often we signed players as free agent from other teams, but we have to remember it works both ways.
In the end:
-Inter kept his best defender one more season
-PSG ensured themself one of the best CB in Europe, but this is not assured since other teams will ask information in the next months for sure
-Skriniar will become richer than he could ever been by staying at Inter, I would have probably done the same since we are talking about modern professionals players, not old fashioned symbols that refused to play for other teams for sense of belonging.

If you want to blame somebody, blame Moratti for leaving Inter almost in bankrupt, blame UEFA for their FFP that applies only for not Arabic owners, blame Suning for not investing in the team anymore and blame this money-based system that gives to the richer teams the upper hand no matter what.

If you’re Steven, you should really consider hiring members of this forum. If you look back and read this thread, you will see that the overwhelming majority of people in this forum held Škriniar as the team’s best defender- this is even when Conte was benching him.

We all see Marotta and the decision makers in the stands watching the game, so they are present. But I’m starting to ask myself if they are sober when attending these matches.
