FIF Special Ones
Comedic Post of the Year
Milan - Inter
Greetings Nerazzurri, it’s derby day and things have finally clicked for me personally on this neck of the woods. First of all, apologies for this very late update but, like I said, I’ve been trying to get my life back on track when it comes to health among other separate projects I’m planning and it seems there are good signs down the line even if they were baby steps. Another obstacle that postponed this update was my desire to start an interview with Gianfranco (old admin of the Milan Offside) or another member from the Dark Side of the Force but sadly my schedule couldn’t help with that but stay tuned for something similar in the future.
Enough about that and let’s get into something that most of you consider old news by now and that's the end of Frank de Boer’s tenure as our manager or 8th victim post Jose. If you’ve followed my posts here you’d know that I blame the management for the circus we’re in right now and in particular guys like Ausilio who in my opinion should be held accountable just like Sabatini was in Roma, but that’s a rant for another time. Now, I’m not trying to bring people down during the Derby night, these are my thoughts and I suspect a lot of people here share that disappointment I have with how things are run at the club right now and how Frank failed even before he started the job with that lousy appointment timing. That’s not to say the man didn’t make poor tactical decisions in the last 2 months, far from it as I’ve voiced my disdain on his stubbornness with Kondogbia and the uncertainty he showed with the fullbacks rotation and constant Palacio/Eder substitution. I just can’t help the feeling that De Boer was set up to fail regardless of his results.
I also believe we have a problem in the locker room with the lack of leadership and most of that is on Icardi’s shoulders. Now settle down Provenzero & Icardi’s “haters gonna hate” bandwagon, this isn’t another bash Icardi post, think of it as an observation. We all agree that Mauro is young and inexperienced to lead this team and the unrealistic expectations our fans and the management have and it showed with his latest comments about De Boer. You can blame many things on Wanda Nara but when his biography drama and the locker room’s dirty laundry about De Boer comes out like that, you realize how poor Mancini’s decision to give him the armband was. I don’t have a corporate slave mentality with the things and people I like, so I’ll support him whenever he’s on the pitch and cheer whenever he scores but I’ll always be against his position as a captain. We need someone who could rally the troops and address the media and even the manager as the main man who represents the entire squad and the apparent frustration the boys are going through as I can't emphasize enough how Handanovic snapping at Santon was a testament to things that have been boiling under the surface for a while now.
Speaking of expectations, I noticed guys like Efrain keep using the phrase “Inter deserves better” which made me think about our position in the world of football in general. Some argue that we have the personnel to pull off a better start to the season, which I agree with to an extent, but then they disregard the fact that this squad doesn’t have a winning mentality or even a sense of unity. Yeah, Zanetti is the vice president and Samuel is back with the staff but the actual playing elements of the team are a mixture of individual quality, psychological mediocrity and broken promises, a sentiment Perisic, Kondogbia and Handanvic have expressed in less than a year. I don’t know who said it but someone argued that we should be better than Tottenham just because we have the history which, somehow, will compensate our shortcomings on the pitch. It’s an idiotic thing to presume let alone use in an argument. We're exactly where we deserve if these things aren't addressed soon.
Anyway, life goes on and now Mr. Pioli is our manager and I’ll be lying if I said that I’m excited about this news. I guess the fact that his contract is a short term one is good especially with most reports linking us with a bigger name this summer. Despite that and my resentment to everything from Lazio, I have to say that it warmed my heart when I found out that he was an Interista and even the twinkle in his eyes in those first training pictures showed a man who’s genuinely happy being here so I’ll definitely wish him luck and support him. Btw, is it just me or does Pioli look really tired? I swear he looks like Jon Stewart post the Daily Show and I hope it's not a medical issue but something like fucking Lotito draining his soul.
INTER: WWWDLLLWLW
MILAN: WWDWWWWLWW
MILAN: WWDWWWWLWW
The hive of scum and villainy are flying high right now with none other than L'Aeroplanino himself, Vincenzo Montella on their bench… talk about fitting names and intentional puns. For those who don’t follow other teams results, like myself, Milan have had a solid run since mid-September with 1 loss in their last 10 games. These guys mean business and their momentum was only halted by Genoa and the INTERnational break, see what I did there? Yeah? No? Oh, bite me Dylan. Hopefully with their squad thinned by injuries their dreams and season starts crashing tonight.
Milan's Squad:
Goalkeepers: Donnarumma, Gabriel, Plizzari
Defenders: Abate, Antonelli, De Sciglio, Ely, Gomez, Paletta, Romagnoli, Zapata
Midfielders: Bonaventura, Mati Fernandez, Honda, Kucka, Locatelli, Pasalic, Poli, Sosa
Forwards: Bacca, Lapadula, Luiz Adriano, Niang, Suso
Inter's Squad:
Goalkeepers: Handanovic, Carrizo, Berni
Defenders: Ansaldi, Ranocchia, Santon, Murillo, Miranda, D’Ambrosio, Nagatomo
Midfielders: Melo, Joao Mario, Kondogbia, Banega, Gnoukouri, Brozovic, Medel
Attackers: Icardi, Jovetic, Biabiany, Eder, Perisic, Candreva, Gabriel Barbosa
Like I said earlier, it's a shorter post than my usual work so excuse me and let's channel every good energy on beating their asses tonight!!
