But my favourite one was the one with the blind guy and Natalie Portman, she is my favourite Israeli person:

hehehehehee..yeah, I like Natalie too..

but you see, that's what I mean....that part was done as an example by Tom Twyker, the guy who did "lola runs"..don't know if you have seen it.

the way of film making and everything, that was 100% him.

I had checked first out the directors...and when I saw that, without looking at credits, i knew after 15 seconds its him.
but it only worked with the more famous ones and those who had a clear handwriting.

Remind me to ignore DeRealest in this thread. How can anyone like a complete retarded movie like Freedom Writers. With Out a doubt, the crappiest movie I have ever seen in my life along with Prozac Nation.

(Prozac Nation is a movie, about a retarded 20 year old chick, who keeps on complaining about everything that has happened wrong with her life, and thus she has become retarded. Yup, to see a bit*ch moan for 3 hours, sounds like a good idea for movie. The only reason why I watched this movie, is that they showed the tits on that chick in the beginning, and I was hoping, that they would show it again, plus retarded chicks with unpredictable nature, turn me on. :p )

Anyway, returning to Freedom Writers, the only reason I stayed in the theater, was that I was with a really hot female friend, and she didnt wanted to leave. The director of this movie should be hanged, how can anyone make a piece of shit like this is unbelievable. Its definetely a cliché to the point, where you can't stand it at all. Extremely pathetic storyline, with such a lollipop ending, that I really wanted to kill someone.

Its like this movie is pleading no one to criticise it, since it is about curing a social evil. I am up for supporting racism and what not, and crash was certainly a good movie. But this is pure crap.

Freedom Writers was a pretty good movie, not the type of movie you'd go see again but it's a good movie. Shutup shahz, who cares if it's cliché I like cliché it makes me sleep easy at night :)

Shahz.. Not a favourite of yours huh?

You're probably right. If you want a film where you get to see some tits and ass then Freedom writers probably isn't for you. But if you want a positive story about overcoming obstacles, that's based on a true story then I recommend it. I can honestly say it's the best "teacher with the troubled teens" film I've ever seen. By far.

God bless Mehdi for this.

And D, I never said I go for movies to watch tits and ass. I said Prozac nation sucked as much as freedom writers. Most of my favourite movies have no tits or ass in them. But if the movie is as crap as Freedom Writers, they might as well put in a hot chick, with huge cans, and a nice round ass, so I might stick around in the theater.

I thought Sister Act, Sister Act 2 and High School High were better...

man...I was looking for this..

honestly...the article hits the truth about the movie.

freedom writers was the biggest uncle tom bullshit ever..

of course..the white girl has to come and teach the black guys about rap and life...

really..positive message my ass..

thats the ****in problem wit society today...people like you who have a problem with everything.

"the white girl has to come and teach the black guys about rap and life"

so the **** what it's true, like 70% of the U.S's ghettos are haitians, african americans and trinidadians and maybe it does take a more upper-class white woman with a big heart to teach them something or 2 about life.

i hate all of this bullshit. It's like if I make a movie about a redneck showing his son how beautiful it is to hunt moose I'd have 10 000 ****in tree hugging little softcocks outside the theaters with picket signs.

If I make a horror movie and God forbid the black guy were to die first some toothless 44 yr old unemployed crackhead named Tyrone would sue me for discrimination and racism.

People play the racism card too quickly these days to the point that you can't even watch a movie in peace without having it cross your mind.

Very enjoyable. It's not one of those film which you see and don't bother remembering. Sadly a majority of the films I see go into that category. This one doesn't. It's not good enough to be classed as "very good" but I would recommend watching it.

It's a cool film based on a true story which imo always maks a film better. Justin Timberlake is the highlight of the film, apart from the kid playing young Nickbwho is absolutely brilliant. Justin gets most of the cool lines and funny scenes, and to my surprise he can actually act. I would see it.

I haven't seen Freedom Writers but I keep hearing good things about it. One problem I might encounter is I can't that Hilary Swank chick. She has the most manly face I've ever seen on a broad.

shhh....easy kid...

grow up first..then come and talk.

And yes, europeans going to the middle east or africa and teaching people how things are done right, or white people going to black people and teaching them how things are done right in movies, is pure uncle tom..as if people there are dumber and can't help themselves.

you might not like it, you might not understand it, but it's a fact. It's subtle racism in movies. Once you grow up, you might realize it too.

I'm always negative? Well...I never liked cycling...maybe that's why.

maybe it does take a more upper-class white woman with a big heart to teach them something or 2 about life.

That was sooooooooooo cute....that post really shows that you are not 20 yet and haven't been out of Canada your whole life. ;)

What does it matter what color or what gender the person teaching has? And FW is based on a TRUE story. What were they gonna do? Change the character to a black woman from the ghetto so that a small minority of oversensitive fools, wouldn't be offended that a white woman could teach black, asian and latin kids something about life? Gimme me a feckin break.

Your black friend saw a film with a positive message and instead of seeing it for what it was, he turned it into something ugly. The problem is he sees demons where there are none.

It's inspired on a true story. There's a small difference there. Pearl harbour, Last King of Scotland etc. are also all inspired by true stories.
it's about the way people are portrayed in the movie, the development of characters, the people involved who did the movie etc.
the stereotyping involved(Asians the bookworms, blacks and mexicans the young ghetto kids etc.), the moral authorative and high position of the white teacher...I mean honestly, are you going to tell me that if it wasn't for that girl, no one in the class would have ever heard about the Holocaust?
I can give you two other examples of such movies...one is Ray, where the late Ray Charles is portrayed as some weak black junkie who wouldn't get anywhere without the help of white people, the other example is The Last King of Scotland, which has too much of an "Out of Africa" touch, where the white doctor of course has to shag the black girl, who gets mistreaded by her black husband and other rubbish(although Forrest Whitaker in that movie was pure genius, just like Jamie Foxx in Ray).

A good example of how its done differently is Syriana, where people in the middle east are not portrayed as helpless morons who need the help of westerns to get over their miserable life and get better.

This whole attitude in both of the movies mentioned above, is subtle racism by the producers, where blacks, or in freedom writers case people from poorer areas, as not all of them are black, are portrayed as helpless lost cases of society that need the help of the benevolent rich suburban population to get over their miserable life.

Your black friend saw a film with a positive message and instead of seeing it for what it was, he turned it into something ugly. The problem is he sees demons where there are none.

Yes, my black friend is simply negative and doesn't see the positive message the movie got....what is the positive message btw.? That we can get over all problems if we unite and stop misunderstanding each other?? How old are you man?

Anyway...maybe you are into such movies and I'm just too cold for it, or too unsensitive. Maybe you also were touched by Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbour and Titanic..I wasn't really..I found all of them rubbish...

Experts and the big public say those movies were great. They've won Oscars.

Don't get this wrong, I'm not saying that experts and the great public always has it at the right end or that you can't have your own opinion, I only want to point out that I think you're indeed to cold or something, like you said yourself.

Taxi driver didn't win an Oscar while departed did.....would you consider Departed a better and more important movie than Taxi Driver?

Mike...you got offended because I considered a movie crap...and Starbucks is shit...Starbucks doesn't make coffee, I like real coffee...I don't go to Starbucks.

Starbucks is for you kids in NA not knowing the difference between Segafredo and Sega Freddo..

Oh wow, just checked this thread after yesterday. Didn't know it was going to turn into a war zone. I do think we have better things to fight about than this, like me getting a quickie from Mike's girlfriend the other day at the bar.

Anyway Freedom Writers is inspired by a true story, and is not based on a true Story. There is a big difference b/t the two. When a movie is inspired by true events, they add in loads and loads of bullshit. I was not offended by racial stereotyping in this movie, after all its based on true events of the LA riots, and well its kind of true that Blacks did live in the poorer areas of cities at that time or Mexicans were ghettos. What actually offended me, was that this movie completely wasted my 10 bucks, and 2 hours.

I am all up for those who make movie on social evil. But this movie tried to appeal to people's sentiments or emotions, into not hating it. Quite frankly I only think, it worked on retards or 10year olds. It has a fairy tale approach to it, which drags on for so long, that you even get tired of staring at the side boobs of the blondie sitting next to you.

Anyways enough about this. D man, you are way too lenient in reviewing the movies. You thought Alpha dog was a good movie too? The story in Alpha dog is everything but original. The only reason why you cant criticize the story line, is because this is a movie that is based on a true story. Each and every character is real. The acting and the directing is pretty decent though.
