Dear Presidente,
There is no hate or anger in what I'm going to say, I swear on my J.Zanetti replica of 22 May 2010.
I'm writing this as a dissapointed Interista. I have watched Inter since 93-94 and more seriously and religiously since Hector Cuper arrived. I have shared the pain and sorrow of numerous defeats and I know how to take them. I have also shared your joy, enthusiasm and I know how you are feeling after watching us getting beaten tonight. I have been with you through 5th May and then 22nd May.. I'm not hoping you read this or anything, I just want it to be a reference point of the lowest feeling I've felt in the last 5 years.
But now the time has come for you to decide. Are you satisfied with the sucess that we have acheived? Have you acheived your holy grail with Mourinho and the club is just an expense on your personal finances? I know you still love Inter but are you willing to sit back now that you won what you set out to?
OR, do you want to start a new cycle. Bear with me, because if you want a new cycle, you will need to almost be a FM 2011 player. Its that far from reality. We need a revolution of our playing squad. We need a stadium to survive the FFP. We need tons of cash, which I understand is difficult to pump in these trying times. I completely do.
So lets get to our squad which is the root of all problems. I mean the coach whether its Leo or someone new next season cant really transform the current bunch of players into a modern football playing-tactically astute team. The only exception to this is Mourinho who in all probability wont return.
The way Leo (or any other modern manager you might decide to bring in) plays these days is not defence first. Defence is what our squad is based on. If we get a coach who suits our mentality and a couple of signings here and there we can compete for the Scudetto and aim to get to the QF's in the CL year after year. Not easily but it can be acheived in the real world.
But if you want to be as sucessful as you were in the past, you need a complete overhaul. J.Cesar, Lucio, Samuel, Sneijder, Eto, Pazzini, J.Z., Cuchu, Motta are probably your best players and can somehow be utilized by a smart tactician in the new version of your Inter. A lot of your teams spine is over 30 but still we cant change everything in one go, so we have to look for replacements in the next few years.
These players are not the problem, now the problem is the dead weight. Maicon, Chivu, Muntari, Mariga, Pandev, Milito, Deki, Suazo, Materazzi, Cordoba.. they are the real problem. I like all of them but we are carrying too much of these squad players around. IMO its unrealistic we get rid of all of them in one summer, BUT this is our only source of cash that we need. I'm pretty sure we can get 75m from all of them if we combine their wages and realistic transfer sums.
Even if we by some miracle manage to do that, will we spend the money on new Sanchez', Robbens, Sahins and Hummels of the football world? Are you willing to spend? Or like the 150m we have from the last 2 seasons will cease to exist?
Which brings me back to my original question. Are you happy with what you have acheived(for which I'm grateful for)? Or do we start a new cycle?
I dont mind which ever way you choose, but I want to be told. Only because I want to share the joy/sorrow with you. I dont want these things to be hidden now.
FORZA INTER!
