D.Rose, Grant Hill and Penny were my top 3 players whose injury ended their carreer. What could have been for those players, though Rose did win 1 MVP.
I'd put T-Mac there, too.
Him and Iverson were the real deal just before that rules change that allowed guards to become super dominant and got all the lanes cleared up. Kobe was also there of course but had to share the ball (if he wanted to) with Shaq.
I think Brandon Roy is another one who would have been elite if healthy.
The players that got me most excited - apart from the absolute legends, so mostly guys who are currently underrated - were Tmac, Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, Monta Ellis (don't ask why, but I loved him for some reason and rooted for the GSW when him and Steph were the backcourt and had a soft spot), Mark Price, Mitch Richmond, Clyde Drexler, Kevin Johnson, Jason Kidd and Damian Lillard. And yes, Vince as well. Who didn't? We lived for those Saturday morning highlight reels.
There was obviously so much talent around and so many great players that were just marginally off of marking their name as all time greats (eg Steph Marbury, Steve Francis or Blake Griffin) due to various circumstances.
There's also those you'd think would become all time greats but barely left a mark in their days. I'm guilty of that with Tobias Harris, thought he'd become an elite forward when he got drafted, can't say with confidence he's been top 10 in his position though.
Also from former players I expected Darius Miles to become a top 10 SF of all time, didn't even sniff close to top 10 in a given season... Guy's life has taken a nose dive as well!
From the current crop of newbies, I can't wait to see what's next for Anthony Edwards. Really rooting for the guy, currently
As for Grant Hill, definitely top 10 of all time talent/potential. Such a shame. There was nothing like him and never has been ever since...
