Without his height, Jokic looks like some normal dude. I'd never guess he was an elite athlete.

Again, stop listening to ESPN talking heads, I guarantee you would know he was an elite athlete.

I used to play basketball and when the first league players would play/train before us, you could fucking tell.

I'm speaking in general, I'm not some ESPN nut.

I work out in the same room as an Olympic rower, and you’d never guess he’s an elite athlete just by looking at him. The same goes for some special forces guys in the military, some of them look like accountants. We have this fixed idea of what an elite athlete or a strong and fit person should look like, but reality can be very different.

Now, I see people questioning Doncic’s conditioning and fitness. This is a player who has led his team to one Western Conference Finals and one NBA Finals in the last three years. You don’t reach that level without being a top professional. I can only imagine the work it takes to get there.

In my opinion, they’re unfairly discrediting Doncic as a player. I’ve rarely seen an organization do one of their (ex-)stars this dirty.

Even if Nico doesn't like Luka, why not try to get more for him? These two years with Klay, AD and Kyrie are going to be funny, they probably have two chances to try and win a championship and I think OKC looks too good for them to beat.

After that you have... Gafford (who doesn't look that good without Luka), Exum, Lively, who else? Lively the only on the rookie contract, so he is staying, but others might not stay.

While Lakers also have a weird squad to operate with, but they don't care, they got their After Lebron Superstar and they only had to give them AD for it. WHAT??? WHAT?? Every team (even Hornets who are especially dumb) in the NBA would give AD for Dončič.

Will be honest, I couldn't sleep when I saw the news announced, coming from someone who doesn't emotionally invest in the NBA today. The shock factor was real, even among veteran media reporters.

It's not the end of the world, so why is this trade causing such a buzz? In my mind, it's because it just doesn’t feel right. I think most people sense that there’s more to this than just basketball reasons. Maybe, just maybe Dallas knows more about Luka's health then we do? Anyhow, this whole thing just leaves a sour taste in my mouth and makes me question the integrity of professional sports.

I believe sports have increasingly become a product designed for economic interest rather than being purely about competition. We can see the same thing happening in football.

Honestly i still dont get it lets assume AD makes the Mavs better (with wich i disagree) they still are 3rd at best in the west and i d pick both cleaveland and Boston over them so really whats the point other than massively cutting your championship window? Also it s not even like AD is an always fit and always giving 100% player.. It feels like he missed more games the last 4/5 seasons than luka did imho he also gets more affected from injuries just cause of playing style and size... Usually big guys dont last that long and injuries cut their careers short... On the other hand while luka has had injuries i dont see it affecting his slow ass playingstyle much... Top this all of with Luka being an absolue Beasr in the playoffs i just makes 0 sense to not shop him around.. Oh and what many forget Luka is younger than SGA.....
Cannot shake the feeling that the league had something to do with this unless Nico somehow thinks AD>Luka which is an insane take, not that AD aint great but Luka on another level...

Also while the Lakers have a weird squad it does not ake much to make em titlecontenders, if lebron stays they could possibly have one of Lebron or Luka out there orchestrating the game at all times. Yes they need a center and a couple of shooters who can defend but i think they ll get there quite easily.
The thought of having Luka and Lebron on the court at the same time also seems scary both of them can creat for themselfes and have some of the best vision in the NBA so your not really gonna be able to double either especially if surrounded by shooters....

I ve shat on Rob a lot but this fucken deal is an absolute master piece... Dude probably jizzed his pants when Nico was like we d like to trade Luka for AD and he still kept his cool and baerly gave up anything other than AD....

Also man Nico must have balls of steel if the mavs dont win a title in the next 3 years he ll have fucked his career and this trade will always hang over his head.

NBA fans have always been fans of players rather than teams. It drives me crazy. I went to high school with a bunch of idiots who just liked whatever team LeBron was on.

You won't find me cheering for Lebron AND Lakers just because a Slovenian is there. I rather cheer for Nuggets in that case

While i still wont be a fan they did become a lot more sympathetic to me because of that Doncic trade does not mean i ll pick em over my bulls/warriors....
But i ll be watching more lakers games than i would if luka did not make the move....

On the fans man it s just a different culture also a lot easier to just be fan of one guy if your playing with just 5.... Like i have friends who are just Lebron fans what ever team he s on they ll cheer for even though they are european and would never change football club... Also can you really blame fans when a team can just move from one city to another that they are not as loyal as football fans?

Anyways while i m not a fan off it i can understand every Mavs fan that chose to follow luka instead of the Mavs after this trade especially the ones that were not around or are to yound to remember the glory days with dirk

PS: not gonna lie i have a lot more hoopers that i like/love who never played for any of my teams or who left them...
While in football you leave inter your pretty much dead to me even people like hakimi while i still like him i m not gonna watch PSG just cause of him...
I ll watch the lakers just cause of luka just like i watch denver cause of jokic

Happy to see jimmy at GSW but probably not enough to make GSW a contender
Yeah, tbh I'd rather keep Wiggins

They also wanted to bring Durant but he said no lol

Different system, it's a trade, not a transfer. There are contracts where a player can have a no-trade clause, unless if they wish to be traded. Otherwise, if you get traded to a club that you didn't want to go, maybe you get lucky and you're traded immediately, otherwise you have to ride out the contract or hope you get traded somewhere else.
