Hm, those guys Manica on the other hand have worked on Wembley, the New Camp Nou and Cagliari's stadium among others... Both firms are quite established, as is expected, we'll have to see the actual presentations on Thursday to compare concepts. But yeah, fundamentally I think the square shape is an interesting contrarian way to go when designing a stadium.

God awful renders... this is some 90s level shading... Anyway, generally I like the way they've covered the inner "Duomo" style construction with the outer glass shell. A pretty hip approach in architecture right now. Remember a project I recently saw for some Arab country and Formula 1 which was basically the same thing. Anyway, the firm, Populous at least has worked on tons of stadiums/arenas so they know what they're doing. Their last project was Tottenham's new stadium.

Was the building of the new spurs stadium not an absolute disaster and take way longer than planned and incurred way higher costs then budgeted?
Not saying it s popolus fault that construction ended up being an absolute shit show but i would be critical of everybody involved in that project.

No idea about that. Just googled around and found the following title: "Workers on Spurs' new White Hart Lane stadium 'off their heads on cocaine' during construction" :yao: At least they had some fun times at the workplace.

So we re abandoning the meazza for a c class cabriolet? Thats like giving up your vintage Ferrari 250 gto for a fucking soules ugly piece of modern BS yes your gonna have less problems with the Mercedes and yes your gonna save money with your new car but you ll never get the same feeling you get when you turn on your 250 gto and hear it s motor roar.

Your analogy is completely wrong. It's like getting rid of your rusty old alfa romeo spyder which needs to be topped up with water every two miles and getting a brand new 4c

I just hope they make a stadium with good atmosphere and acoustics similar to the Meazza. We consistently have the most season ticket holders and attendances so shouldn't have anything low capacity like juve's stadium either.

I am already sold on the first project.

The second project by Populous looks bad imo. I especially dislike how they attempted to "solve" the corner seating problem:

Out of the second project I really like the outer appearance, it's a bit more unique and recognizable in the long run, much like no other stadium ever looked like Meazza.

Could someone grab a few more screenshots from the video? It's too long to watch and I'm not home atm to skim through it.

Don't have one.
Only thing about the second option that is meh for me are those stands, but at least they look kinda unique, first option looks generic as fuck with that oval shape toilet seat design. I think atmosphere will be much better on the Populous one, and listening to their presentation that's what they were aiming for.

After seeing all the pictures definitely the second one, it looks classier...

The populous plan is much more iconic than the Manica plan. Also, the populous seating plan looks much more intense rather than Manica, which should create a better atmosphere inside. Also, the capacity can increase to 65 K. Overall, populous wins it.

I am kind of split. First project brings more club identities with fan images and designated rings for Inter and Milan. The second one is definitely iconic, no other stadium like it from outside, but seems more focused on the city rather than the clubs. I really liked that Populous put emphasis on the acoustics and them having high profile sound engineers. Both buildings are easily "colored" with lights and panels so that should be OK either way.

One thing I consider very important but did not see/hear in the presentation(not sure if it's part of their projects at all) is the pitch technology and conditioning. Drainage, heating, pitch covering and protection etc.... any info on that?

I was hoping for something unique. The renders for the new Stadio Franchi being proposed looks way too similar to the glass one:

I like both, but the one with two rings appeals to me more. that said, more than the aesthetic aspect, i'm interested in functionality, how is the view from the furthest seats, and stuff like that.
