I have never been to SGM, but I think, that If you build to much around the pitch, the grass don't grow very well, so its a tough decision, bricks or grass ?

But, they will find something on it I think, like PSV, they have hot lamps like they you use with little chicks to let te grass grow.

My opinion: only build new if its really necessary, when its to old and collapsing or when UEFA says it must be replaced.

If we invest in a new stadium we will have to spend some years not buying top quality players so we can invest the money in a new stadium therefore i dont agree that we move from San Siro

I think grass shouldn't be too close to the stands. New stadiums should be something like Emirates Stadium.

San Siro is really old. Last time it was refurbished was in 1990. Almost 20 years.

We can sign young and talanted players so we will not need to buy new ones for at least 5 years. Then we can build new stadium.

At the same time our players will have good understanding if we don't change our squad for couple of years ;)

FC Internazionale & AC milan, 2 clubs each with a hell of a budget... Maintaining a footballfield should be no problem at all, so why not a 50/50 payment? With a little bit of effort you can have the best footballfield in europe. So moving to an other stadium because of the field is not a good reason.

The best stadium is the Aufschalke Arena. Just read something about it and you'll understand. They even organise skiing competitions in there!

The San Siro has great turf at the begining of the season. The maintenance of it is bad though, during the season. But do you forget Chelsea's stadium? Remember what they did in order to sambotage the CL game with Barcelona? The wild fields in Madagascar were more suitable for games than that pitch!

Plus, bringing Mediterrenean cultured people, closer to the pitch, is a BAD IDEA. Trust me, I'm one of them :D

And Mustafa, do you want the stadium to be renovated every 2 years? Like gardens? 20 years is a short time for stadiums!
The only improvements needed, are the seats that I mentioned earlier, doesn't matter if they are for feet or butts!(we don't seat in Cyprus or in Greece, but yet we have the backs of the seat :)) and also, the changing rooms, which is something easier to change. And if possible/necessary, a 3rd stand on Curva Est, which is the only one that didn't get the 3-stand expansion in 1990.

The San Siro is rated as one of the best stadiums in the world... Why leave?

Who rates Meazza as one of the top stadios in the world? I don't agree with that, the pitch is awfull, and it's not looking good. Well, I agree we don't have to leave it, but only if it is renovated...

And I think Alianz Arena is the best stadium in the world...

Actually, one of the reasons why a 3rd tier was not added to the East curve was due to concerns that the pitch would not receive adequate sunlight. Our pitch is bad enough as it is; adding that 3rd tier would kill it. :D

Tim

Well if our pitch is bad why dont they just remove it and re put a new turf in the offseason?
And the G.Mezza is great i love it, its part of our history
Question
Do Ac Milano calll it the G.Mezza as he never played for AC Milan or is it offically called G mezza aka San Siro?

Meazza actually played for Milan for 2 seasons. Hence, the official name of the stadium is, Giuseppe Meazza, San Siro. :)

i think the stadium is officially called Giuseppe Meazza,

in any case some peoples ideolagy here is wrong. san siro is our home....how many other teams can claim they have played in the same stadium for almost 80 years. making a new one is just plain wrong.

Both names are used ;)

Stadio Giuseppe Meazza
Stadio San Siro

Older Italians call it San Siro, as they grew up with it... I haven't met many new Italians to know... :)

the problem with meazza is that the maintenance is held by the city of milan, as the owner. Both milan clubs just rent the stadium as their base.

Moratti was spitting out the idea of building a new stadium in desperation of slow maintenance from the city ....

Our pitch is good, the reason is that two there are sometimes two games per week. Like for example if we look at Serie A games one week Inter plays there next week Milan, and same with European Cup and Coppa Italia.

Some of us Inter or Milan have to move form San Siro. I would prefer Inter to have new stadium :interscarf:

I'm against leaving the Giuseppe Meazza, we can't leave behind all the histroy made inside this it. However, I think that the stadium need some renovation. I've been to our stadium once (last April when we played Milan) and I think the atmosphere inside the stadium was magnificent (although it was a home game for Milan and if you remember our fans boycotted the game).

Renovation is all what is needed.

I also read sometime ago that Milan are planning to build their own stadium, but I don't know how true is this thing.
