Honestly, I don't. It might be that they are playing chess.

I mean just look at the authorities trying everything in their powers to block our cousins:

UNESCO appeal could block Milan new stadium project

Italians and their ruins

Authorities have everything to lose if clubs build their own.

How fortunate it seems that Juventus found the one plot of land in all of Italy that isn't a protected site.

This makes no sense. Inter can build a stadium anywhere else tomorrow if they want. The stadium is clearly not a priority. Delle alpi was a shit hole that was obviously not a candidate for protected status. Most were happy to see it blown up. This is not even remotely the same situation and there is no vast Juve conspiracy here, the Juve obsession from Inter fans is so cringe sometimes.

CdS: Inter and AC Milan are unlikely to build two separate stadiums, and will either stay at the San Siro or build a new stadium together😅
Milan Mayor Beppe Sala has made a last-ditch attempt to keep the clubs at the iconic stadium. Over the summer, he had architectural design firm WeBuild present renovation plans to the clubs.

And on Friday, the Corriere della Sera confirm, Inter and Milan will meet with Sala about the plans.

The clubs have had a couple months in which to analyze and reflect on the plans.

The costs of the renovations are one sticking point, reports the Corriere della Sera.

WeBuild projected that the construction would cost around €400 million, whilst the clubs expect it would come to €700 million, split evenly between them
Then there is the question of the potential for revenue generation after the renovations.

Inter and Milan want the San Siro to be able to generate more in gate receipt revenues. And they also want more commercial development around the stadium to rake in more cash.

One way or the other, the two clubs will soon make their final decision. On Friday they’ll inform Sala on whether or not they plan to stay at the San Siro and go ahead with renovations.

No Separate Stadiums – Inter & AC Milan To Stay At San Siro Or Build New Stadium Together
But a big turning point could be in the clubs’ plans should they decide to leave the San Siro.

The Corriere della Sera reports that Inter and Milan are now very unlikely to build two separate stadiums if they leave their current home.

For over a year, the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have each pursued their own plans.

Inter have been focusing on the commune of Rozzano. And Milan, meanwhile, are even further along in San Donato where they have already bought land.

However, the Corriere della Sera reports, the two clubs would likely look to consolidate if they say no to Sala regarding the San Siro.

Building together would mean sharing the costs, obviously a big plus.

Moreover, the ownership of Inter and Milan are on the same page.

Since the takeover of Inter by US fund Oaktree Capital, there is an atmosphere of cooperation between they and Rossoneri owners RedBird Capital, also American.

As such, the Corriere della Sera reports, the two clubs are ready to openly share their respective plans in Rozzano and San Donato.

Then, the clubs can decide which to move forward with. But the idea would very much be to build one stadium to share, as they have long done with the San Siro.
Neverending story

There is already a petition against city selling the stadium and the land around it to the clubs. Obviously.

Interesting to see what's coming out of all this since getting the stadium and the land is prerequisite for the clubs to commit to the San Siro.

New stadium? Do we need one? We were discussing about this, so I decided to open new thread.

We have Meazza, it's big, but old and not so attractive. In the end, it's shared with Milan. Do you like to see Inter play on new stadium, his own stadium? I would, but who will give the money for it?
That post was written almost 20 years ago but now the issue is the same. It’s incredibly

Many years ago, when Moratti was still the owner there were serious talks about his stadium project and the place and the time it will be built were estimated. Back then I thought for myself damn, when it will be done how fucking old I will be?!

Now many years ago later I'm older than what I expected to be when THAT stadium was supposed to be built and not a brick was moved in order to build a fucking stadium for Inter yet!

How is possible that 2 of the biggest clubs in the World, can not have their own stadium??? In Serbia, in last 5 years, we built 5-6 new stadium and we are building now National stadium. Ok, they are small, we are small country, but still we are building them. Our football quality is below zero and can not be compared to Italian football, but at least we are trying to improve. Inter, come to Belgrade, we will build you stadium.

Bureaucracy. Sala doesn't want to lose his annual 30m renting income. Hence he is doing his best to prevent Inter & Milan building own stadium, nor buy it out. But only renovating for his own goods.

Not sure what to think of this. I fear this will just prolong everything further. :D

If they start the new haggle with the stadium to San Siro, maybe next to the current stadium and let it be there and shit like that? It's another two years minimum before they find out what's gonna happen with that.

Don't have one.
From the start I thought this is one of the biggest gaslighting that's happening between sala, inter and milan and day by day thats proving correct and what's even funnier I think all three parties know they are bullshitting each other but nonetheless they keep defending their interests just because they feel a need to be seen as working towards those things.

Don't think the needle will move until one of inter or milan gets proper owners.

Yeah starts to look the clubs were bluffing, somehow over played their hands and now they are back at where they left from.

They want a new stadium, next to Meazza. It's possible that the clubs do not have the means to build their own stadiums, cost of money is still too high and the projected profits are probably not worth it (to build your own stadium).

Like if they would really mean it, if they really wanted to build their own stadiums, decisions were made Inter alku, those project would be going on full steam and they wouldn't be waiting any proposals by city for some renovation project like they did now.

Milan will continue with the San Donato project . They have invested over 40M€ there already. I think they want to somehow outfox Sala by being interested on many options. Buying Meazza , building next to it etc. Maybe they even want to buy Meazza and its surrounding land together with us and still continue with their own stadium.

So many questions, Sala has never helped the clubs to find a real solution, only idiotic stalling to have that juicy Meazza rent flowing.

It would be really awesome to move to San Donato with Milan, get the building permits just to see Sala cry, but I bet milanisti would start another petition to keep us away which is understandable.

UEFA director Michele Uva warns Italy have a serious problem getting five stadiums ready to co-host EURO 2032 with Turkey, as so far the only arena up to code is the Allianz Juventus Stadium.

The plan originally was to host the tournament in 2032 alone, but the lack of progress in getting new infrastructure saw Italy instead share the duties with Turkey, splitting the 10 venues between the two countries.

Even that might be beyond the Peninsula, as reiterated by UEFA director Uva:
“Italy needs five stadiums up to code for EURO 2032, with projects that are already approved and financed. At the moment, only one is ready, the Stadium in Turin. The Stadio Olimpico in Rome needs a few changes, while the situation at San Siro is more complicated.

“A year has passed since the hosting rights were assigned and there has not been much progress. It’s not just about the five needed for the tournament, as Italy needs to invest in the smaller clubs too. For example, in Turkey they have built 13 new stadiums over the last few years, not just those that will host the Euros.”

There was another huge blow today in the San Siro situation, as Milan and Inter formally rejected the proposal to reconstruct the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, noting it would be far too costly and difficult to work around.

So they are now back to either building their own stadiums outside the city or the plan they had in 2019, which was to construct a new venue in the car park and then knock down the Stadio Meazza.
“In England they knocked down Wembley, in Brazil they rebuild the Maracanà, these were temples of football,” continued Uva.

“I realise people are fond of the stadiums, but we mustn’t think they are eternal. San Siro is a beautiful monument, but the two Milan clubs ought to each have their own modern home ready to bring in fresh revenue.”

Back to square 1.

There are 3 options and the next update won't come until 2025:

1. Stay at San Siro
Sala has confirmed that Inter and Milan are open to building a new stadium at San Siro if they acquire the whole area, but they must know the costs and the timing of such an operation. The tax office won’t provide an assessment of the area’s worth until February 2025, but in the meantime, the two clubs must present a project for a new stadium close to the Stadio Meazza. In this case, Milan and Inter would continue sharing the new stadium.

2. One stadium each
Milan and Inter have been working on separate plans for months. Milan have acquired an area in San Donato, while Inter have identified Rozzano as the venue for their new stadium. This would be a historical switch, not only because the two clubs would move slightly outside the city of Milan but also because they’d no longer be sharing the same stadium. However, if they build one stadium each, costs would surely be higher for Rossoneri and Nerazzurri. Furthermore, Sala warned that if Milan and Inter eventually decide to buy the San Siro area, they’ll have to drop the other projects.

3. New joint stadium
Any party hasn’t officially confirmed this third option, neither the clubs nor Sala, but several sources have reported that Inter and Milan could build a new stadium together in San Donato, the area identified by Milan for their new area. It’s been reported that the Milan project in San Donato is more advanced than Inter’s in Rozzano, so the two clubs could join forces to share costs and build a new stadium more quickly than in San Siro.

Inb4: local municipality in 2025 asks for unreasonable amount for the area near the stadium, so the clubs will resume pursuing building their own.

The Mayor of Rozzano commune anticipated that “Inter’s first choice has always been a stadium in Milan.”
“But the idea of a stadium in Rozzano is definitely not out of the picture definitively,” he continued.

Ferretti said that “Inter’s exclusive right is valid until January 2025.”
“Inter will keep all avenues open until they make a final decision.”

“The position of San Siro is optimal, obviously,” the Rozzano Mayor said. “But if you look around Europe, all the top new stadiums are outside the city limits.”
2025 January? Seems like the whole Rozzano idea is just a push on Milan's mayor office.
