More like belt and road pulled out of football.....

Anyways am i the only one who finds it absolutely retarded o build another stadium next to fucken san siro? So that we make the current stadium a glorified concert venue with low return and tha will fucken lower the demand for the new stadium?
Seriously are we all this retarded? Just pay the couple 100 mios more to properly renovate especially if we are back together with bbilan...
I think there one big issue:

If they start renovating San Siro, neither club can play there and they need to play there with reducing capacity.

Another thing is, it probably require so massive renovations to make it worth it (to make so much more revenues out of it that it would make sense in the first place) that it would cost simply too much.

Meh i m sure solutions could be found... Also the revenue should be a non issue i dont see how we cannot bring a renovated stadium to the same level as a new one....
Like after being to the new renovated Bernabeu i just dont see how we are not capable to do something similar. Yes i know real have more money than us...
But the stadiums have more or less the same age like the first gae there was in 47... Yes i know they made minor changes and renovations to it prior to the big one now but so did we ( probably to a lesser degree)
It just seems like another dumb idea that comes along because of politics...

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Marotta addressed other hot topics, including the new stadium project:
“Stadium? Very soon, both clubs will present a proposal,” he claimed. “A city like Milan has the right to have a state-of-the-art stadium.

“Italian clubs have a significant gap compared to European teams.

Our shareholders have been forward-thinking and are capable of making major investments.

“I hope that very soon, both clubs will be able to make a proposal to the Milan City Council.”

It's exactly like an Astrodome situation.

Renovating the place properly is gonna cost more than that. You're better off building from the ground up honestly. That shit renovation plan that they released was a joke.

I think the WeBuild renovation project proposal stated that they would be able to continue playing there while it was renovated. It was something like 350mm euro (no way would the final cost be that low when it's done). In my opinion the plan and proposal was completely shit. Way too much money and not enough added benefit. I love GM, but have to build a new one if you want to do it properly.

Yes, I understood that plan would not have provided similar future revenues.

Yes renovation is gonna cost more nobody argues with that... The point is that it is absolutely nonsensical to build a new stadium next to an already existing one when the exising one could be rennovated and when it has immense historical/emotional value to both sets of fans and the city and when it is protected as in you cannot tear it down....

Than again since americans are in charge not like they know anything about historical relevance so they probably chose the cheapes most commercial shit they can find..
I just find it ridiculous how Madrid and Barcelon both realized the historic value of their stadiums and decided to renovate but for us apparenly it s technicaly not feasable gtfo we just dont seem to care about our own fucken history.

The keyword is there.. the Spanish is willing to renovate their property. Inter and Milan are paying rent for Meazza and it makes zero sense to invest in something aren't ours to begin with.

Sala is the one should respect history and care for GM but he doesn't wanna touch his pocket.

My assumption is that this plan would go through according to which we d own the stadium and the surroundings:

“The law states that once we receive the offer, we must still issue a public tender, but it is clear that the premise will be an area dedicated to football. The law also allows for the possibility of a private negotiation. If the offer arrives today, we will examine it and report to the City Council. The tender will last about 30-45 days, and the goal is to sell the stadium and the surrounding areas to the teams before the summer holidays.

“Then the clubs will start building a new stadium next to the Meazza,” continued Sala.

So we d renovate our own stadium instead of building another one next to it....

Something might be lost in translation here or i dont understand it correct but thats how i interpret: the goal is to sell the stadium and the surrounding areas to the teams before the summer holidays.

Who wants to bet that Manchester United will demolish Old Trafford, rebuild and have their new 100,000 seater stadium ready before these Milan clubs put a shovel in the ground and in fact will STILL be having conversations about whether they should stay in San Siro or move 😂

Regarding the discussion around redevelopment vs new stadium I see man Utd have also opted for a new stadium.
Their review apparently showed the new stadium offers more benefits. Also new build allowed higher capacity.
Their new stadium will apparently cost £2 billion.

Thats more or less in line with what a large modern stadium is going to cost. You can benchmark it with alot of recent venues in the US. When I hear Inter saying they are going to build a 70,000 seat stadium for under a bil, I generally roll my eyes.

There is really nothing in the UK to envy these days.

Looks like the city is waiting on the clubs to make a decision on an offer for the stadium. The city is the one pushing now. Complain about sala and Italy and bureaucracy all you want but as I have said all along this stadium is not a priority for either club despite what they have said in the media.

La Gazzetta have a full page on the new stadium today, they say the clubs sent the proposal to they city last night. I haven't read the article, just glanced at it and my Italian is terrible so would be the best to give an in depth description of it.

Essentially, the two Milan clubs presented a 300-page document to the city about the acquisition of the Meazza, and the idea is to build a new stadium on that (sacred) ground.

Yeah, but the article has a lot more info in it, details about the proposal.
