Inter & Milan Hoping To Secure New 99 Year San Siro Lease

Milan clubs Inter and Milan are heading toward striking a new 99 year lease agreement with the Milan city council over the sharing of the San Siro according to a report published by Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport today.

Since Suning entered the Nerazzurri atmosphere, they have shown strong intentions to upgrade the San Siro and modernise it whereas there has been a lot of confusion and silence from Milan. However with Milan now under the ownership of US based hedge fund Elliott management, things are now a lot clearer and a future together at the San Siro looks likely.

Currently the two clubs are paying €15 million a season to lease the stadium on top of all the maintenance costs and in the coming weeks the leaders of the two clubs will meet with the city council to share their shared plan for their future at the stadium going forward.

Gonna be interesting to see if elliot is willing to invest in a stadium or lets say in the upgrade of san siro. Since their stated plan is to sell in 3 years i somehow doubt that they are willing to make any major investments into a stadium.
Lets hope i m wrong and we can finally move forward on this front.

I'd much rather stay at San Siro but with a reduction in seats and an upgrade, overall.

Would probably cost more to move/build to a new stadium than it would be to work with Milan and find a joint plan of action on how to better adjust the stadium for modern standards in terms of design and seating.

I'd be happy with a capacity of 60-65k. Seems like an optimal number given that even at our peak we never averaged more than 60k

My heart says we have to stay at San Siro just because of the history and sentiment etc. But for the club itself it would be better to move to an stadium which is ours. I've read that Inter pays 15 million a year and for all the reconstruction etc thats alot of money for an stadium which isn't much sold out. When you move to a new stadium all the income is for yourself and you can do whatever you want to do with the stadium. If you build an stadium with 60/65k capacity you can sell the stadium out but then again look at Spurs and Arsenal etc, they couldn't do alot on the transfer market just because they were building an new stadium.

Isn't there an report about this situation? Because I thought the municipality of Milano don't want to give any ground to the clubs because now they make money of the clubs by renting out the stadium and when they move out they are stuck with an huge stadium they can't use regarly?

I want history to partially repeat itself.

Suning builds a 45k stadium. Rents it out to Milan. Inter then buys the Meazza. Milan is forced to buy the new stadium from Suning or pay the instalments to Inter over a period of several decades.
We renovate the Meazza completetly, remove the 3rd tier and either rebuild it properly or just improve the overall arrangement.
Only thing I don't want to see is the descendants of Suning become Milanisti like the Pirelli family did in reverse

60k against Parma and 70k fans against Tottenham. The fans need the Inter drug in a incredible manner after a boring international break
I guess a 60-65k stadium would suffice for us. If they give us a 99 year ownership of San Siro (like Rube got for their toliet stadium) and we modernize it a bit(Bbilan staying here too I believe) then ok... I like the Meazza stadium, it has so much history. A new one would be even more cool but Suning doesn't have this in their mind

I was in favour of us building our stadium until I went to the Meazza.

The Meazza is amazing and competes with any stadium in Europe, the only improvement it needs is less Milan and more stuff around it.

Il Milan vuole fare lo stadio a Sesto San Giovanni

Bbilan want to build their own stadium outside the city apparently, Elliot has the means to do it, 270mil investment ... Good, Meazza only for Inter, let's paint it Nerazzurro once and for all.

A 99 year lease of the stadium together with Milan is what will keep us being mediocre.

Sadly.

Hopefully it goes through.
Send them as further away from the city as possible :)

Milan stadium decision this year’
By Football Italia staff

Milan hope to make “a final decision” on their stadium situation by the end of the year, President Paolo Scaroni confirms.

The Rossoneri held their shareholders’ meeting today, and the issue of whether they’ll stay at San Siro or seek to build their own ground was raised.

“Certainly having a modern and efficient stadium is essential for the revenues that are missing at Milan,” Scaroni replied.

“We’ve taken this problem as one of our priorities. There are many hypotheses being considered, including sharing San Siro with Inter.

“I would like, by the end of the year, to have made a final decision.”

It has been speculated in recent weeks that both Milan and Inter are working on taking out a 99-year lease on the stadium and renovating it.

If they leave, we pay full rent to the City of Milano, and even if we're allowed to make some renovations that's supposed to increase our revenues there is no way we could cover the expenses of Milan's share of rent that we'll be paying for keeping the stadium for ourselves.

In what universe is that great?

A 99 year lease is u basically buying it. It just has to be re-done to to make it up to par with other stadiums around the world.
