See all the smileys I left after my message... Where are you from if you're not Australian?
singapore dude..
Its funny you call Besiktas "Carsi", in Ireland and Britain the "carsi" is the toilet .
Yeah, they should call themselves Kensington, alongside Salford United. You can't play in one place and claim to be from another. 49% of season ticket holders come from New Jersey, with less from New York, and even Ed Koch said they weren't a NY team. I really think you should start supporting a college team or something cos NY don't have no NFL baby!
An Australian telling us about European football .
Oh, I could've sworn you were from Australia. You must have family connections to the English-speaking world to have come up with "blackmore" though. There's a reason I know about this surname but even here its not common.
why.... you think my country doesnt speak english or maybe you think singapore is in some part of china...?
are you that dense, or have you not been opened up to society other then the burrow you live in?
I suppose the Buffalo Bills are also not a NY team? Lol you have been following the NFL for a fucking week and you are trying to tell me facts about it? Please just shut up and follow the game some more before you try sounding like an expert...
Actually it's "Çarşı", means "indoor bazaar" in Turkish.
Besiktas' (and Turkey's) biggest fan group is named Çarşı, because of our past traditions. For years long our fans looked every football match as a "ritual" and performed this way:
- People get together at (and around) a Pub named Kazan. And drink&chant there until the game starts.
Entrance of Kazan:
- As thousands of people won't fit in a pub, most of fans stayed around this pub and drunk&chant on their feets.
And here you can see "Büyük Besiktas Carsisi" (aka Big Besiktas Bazaar) which is just next to Kazan:
Every single game you can see thousands of fans drinking and chanting there. This place is where we got our fan groups name "Çarşı".
- And when there is ~a hour left until game starts, everyone walks to the Stadium all together.
Here you can see our path from Kazan to Inönü Stadium, there is a very historical and great road between those trees. And the building you see at seaside is Dolmabahce Palace, where our leader Atatürk gave his last breath.
Still, CARSI group does this ritual in every single game.
So yeah, now you know where our name comes from and you might want to check the bottom picture to see our logo if you are wondering why i'm typing our A in red.
CARSI is known of their Anarchist view of the World, with our motto being: "Çarşı, against everything." Not gonna type it down longly though, just let me know if you would like to know about those "anarchist view of the World".
And on-topic: Pats for the SuperBowl!

an irishmen telling an american about NFL...now im confused!!
Lovely, ask a guy about his name and you get a mouthful of abuse, lovely...
I'm not trying to sound like an expert, I don't know anything about NFL. I'm allowed to talk about geographical facts though, and its a fact that the Giants is a New Jersey team, Buffalo Bills are in New York state so of course they qualify as an NY team, the Giants don't though as they are from Jersey. I just don't think its on, a team claiming to be from one place when they're from another. Especially when that place's Mayor, Ed Koch, didn't even want them. Its like Atalanta calling themselves Atalanta Milano in the hope of getting a few extra fans. When the Raiders upped sticks and moved they changed name...

IG is right to an extent, the Jets and Giants should change their name to reflect their location. Not only do they play in New Jersey but both have their headquarters there. IMO they should be called the New Jersey Giants and New Jersey Jets, or they could adopt the approach the LA Angels took when they moved to Anaheim calling themselves Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. So both would then be called New York Jets of New Jersey and New York Giants of New Jersey.
I've followed the NFL for 5 years now, been to see 4 games, watch 4 or 5 games every week, watch Total Access everyday, listen to Sirius NFL radio every day and spend hours on NFL sites. Hopefully that's enough to warrant an opinion about it.
Not to interfere, but the areas of NJ that both the Jets and Giants are from are considered more metro NY than NJ at all. Same with the Miami Dolphins, they are based in Davie, Florida, totally different city, not even in Miami-Dade or Dade county - but it's metro Miami, etc... it's quite common.
i told u were i came from and then you said this.....
think about it.
Fixed it for ya.
That's a good point but at least their stadium is located in Miami-Dade county, so they have some claim to the name. The Cowboys situation is reverse to Dolphins. They Play in Arlington but they're based within Dallas county, again they have a claim to the name.

True, as well. But this is just the way it works. I could get to the Giants stadium quicker from a relative distance in NY than I could travelling from Davie to Miami Gardens. I know this for a fact, as I currently live in Miami [and travel frequently to NY]. It's just a namesake. As the New York Red Bulls [MLS] are based in the same city, too. It is just simply metro NY. No other explanation for it.
