I know that its still the same metro and I know the history of how both played in New York before moving to East Rutherford. Sure if ya look at the Redskins, they play in Maryland and are based in Virginia yet still use the name Washington.

It's just more to wind up the Giants fans on here to be honest, they're very sensitive about it.:D

Are you a Dolphins fan so?

I'm a Giants fan, actually

And at least Washington [DC] is in between VA and MD.

Lol, you don't seem as sensitive as other Giants fans on this forum, one in particular.

You reckon the Giants should stick with Coughlin or has he reached his peak?

Winding-up? No, never! I genuinely am offended that New Jersey Giants refer to themselves as being from New York after only a week watching NFL.

And I actually hate Coughlin. He's a bit past his time, in my opinion.... but I don't really see anyone as a fit replacement, yet, either - though I don't hate the idea of Bill Cowher coming in. Then again, I don't usually involve myself in speculation and rumours [this goes for NFL, Serie A, etc]... I just wait for official announcements, and I judge then.

A week is hardly time to be offended by anything. It has been this way for years.

I can't remember who posted what so this is to both IG and jamsieboy. Sorry if parts don't apply to one of you.

You are incredibly dense (evidenced by the thing with blackmore) and clearly have no handle on American sports culture. As Vito said, there is over 50 years of history associated with the name New York Giants (see the baseball team as well). Disregarding the history which itself warrants keeping the name, East Rutherford is further from my house (central Jersey) than New York city. As someone pointed out, that's how it's done. The New York Red Bulls play in Harrison, New Jersey. Dallas plays in Arlington. Washington plays in Maryland. Never in America would anyone over the age of 12 have this argument. It just shows how out of tune you are with the NFL.

That was all done with only my head. If you demand it, I'll type out a list Vito-style of every sports team that doesn't play in the same place as its name (Chelsea included).

LMFAO, you don't get it do you. We're dense and yet you've gotten so upset over what we've already said was a wind-up as to go on a rampage trying to insult us, which didn't work incidentally :D. With regards the thing with Blackmore, I don't see what that evidences, I am Welsh but have a very Scottish name and plenty of people in my life have remarked on the fact that I must have Scottish heritage in my family, which I have never found an uneducated or offensive comment :rollani:.

I will say I don't have a handle on American sports, that's true. Why should I? I'm Welsh, British, European, not American. I have watched two NFL matches in my life, and even though I may watch more I can't ever see myself getting into it enough to want to have a handle on it. In my opinion, though I will not say I didn't enjoy the matches I saw, personally I don't find American sports remotely as exciting as European ones.

Its a big pity though that you chose to insult Jamsie. Whatever about me, I'm not an NFL fan. But to insult someone who is obviously passionate about YOUR sport is doing a pretty poor job of representing it on a worldwide scale. NFL's appeal is very limited to the USA and Canada, like it or not, and has a long way to catch the global appeal of other sports and abusing people in other countries who like it won't do it any great service.

If only there was some way of finding out who said what. Oh yeah check the previous posts! How incredibly dense are you?

None of what you said applies to me, I was just trying to wind up Giants fans, particularly Vito. It was basically smack talk, to use an American idiom and you obviously can't handle it. The internet can be a big bad place, ya may try not to be so sensitive.

I'm am not out of tune with the NFL, if ya had bothered to check previous post it was me who mentioned Cowboys and Redskins. Also if you had bothered to read previous posts you would've seen that I stated how much time I spend watching, reading and listening to NFL.

Way to go represent your country's favorite sport by insulting a person who said he is only new to the sport by calling him dense, so I suppose you woke up one morning knowing everything there was to know about European.

Yeah Cowher would be a good replacement, I think Jeff Fisher would also be a good fit. Gruden is a good coach but he went the same way as Coughlin after he won his Super Bowl. New York is a hard place to coach, under so much scrutiny from the media, I think a coach with experience is very much needed.

Yeah this bit confuses me, I don't have a clue what blackmore or La Bling are on about. You thought his surname was Blackmore which is Irish and asked him did he have any connections to English speaking countries, that was it. He got offended for what reason I don't know and La Bling accuses ya of being dense. He never said why his name is blackmore, just a "think about it", as if that is an explanation as why he got offended and why he's called blackmore.

Is there something obvious I am missing in regard to this?

Then you should go around posting about changing the name or pictures of the logo, or you should accept the argument if it's to wind us up.

It's his sport just as much as it is mine. It's not my responsibility to spread it or represent it. I represent my own opinions, and the opinions of most of New York-New Jersey-Conencticut. If Jamsie wants to follow the sport and be accepted into the "circle," he should do his research and understand the history surrounding the teams and the sport and then do his insulting.

If only there was some way of finding out who said what. Oh yeah check the previous posts! How incredibly dense are you?

Not reading through 3 pages of posts for the second time makes me stupid, right. You could simply disregard it if it didn't apply to you, as I said, but parts of it (the location of sports teams vs. team name) do.

Smack talk can be argued against based on merit, last time I checked.

How much of Total Access is about the culture and history of the league and its teams? There's a difference to understanding the sport, current games, and the history. I know as much as every other fan about the Inter squad, but I differ to someone who lives in Milan when it comes to current feelings of the city, political and cultural divides, etc. You should do the same, and whether it's smack talk or not, the name is something that can and should be argued against if brought up. And no, I don't know everything about Europe. Nor do I pretend to and attack 50+ years of a team and a city's history.

Seriously what circle are you on about dude? So because you perceive I have no knowledge of the history of the teams then I'm not allowed to talk about it. I know exactly where both teams have played in the past and where they were based. So before I slag any aspect of a team I have to preface it with a 10,000 word essay showing my knowledge of the subject. It was only a wind up.

Not reading through 3 pages of posts for the second time makes me stupid, right. You could simply disregard it if it didn't apply to you, as I said, but parts of it (the location of sports teams vs. team name) do.

Yeah I can because I know what applies to me and what doesn't, but its hardly fair because others reading your post might not know which bit applies to me and which doesn't. I was being facetious by asking were you dense.

Of course smack tack can be argued, but it is usually done so in a jovial manner, not by one person calling others dense.

NFL Total Access obviously doesn't enlighten viewers to the history of the NFL, I do however have a fair understanding of the history of the NFL. It was one of the aspect that intrigued about it when I first start watching it, that there was this whole other sport which I knew little about that was steeped in history and tradition.

The extent of my knowledge of football history is beside the point anyway because I was only winding people up about the name, it has obviously worked on you. So I should defer to you because your American even though it was a wind up.

I'm hardly the first person to ever use the name issue to get a rise out of Giants/Jets fans, I first heard it last year when a Saints beat writer was saying it to wind up Jets fans ahead of their game with the Saints last year.

In case its not sinking in yet:

"IT WAS A WIND UP"

Fair enough. It worked. Because the name is correct as it is.

Yeah I really do too, he's very experienced and still has a hunger because he hasn't won much, 1 AFC Championship I think, you could question Cowher or Gruden's hunger seen as they have they won the Super Bowl already. Although with Vince Young reportedly gone from the Titans Fisher could be staying, it has been billed the last few weeks as one or the other for getting the boot.

Yeah, that I think is why I'd be content with Fisher. But if he stays, he stays. Giants will be okay, either way.
