Would have been perfect for Liverpool. Now we'll have to count on Vidal to not injure himself in his stupid Fiat Panda. Or we have the uttermost pleasure to see Gagliardini vs. Salah/Mane/Henderson

Not sure vidal is mobile enough anymore, unless we get him to sit deeper and just butcher.
Probably not but he is still more mobile then gags or vecino. The only other hope is for sensi to re-emerge...

I'm sure everyone noticed, but against Cagliari, Barella's body language and behavior was infinitely more reserved and calm than it normally is - almost like he was in mourning (for our Champions League campaign).

From what I saw, he never once complained about any missed passes or chances from any of his teammates. Even when Lautaro missed his penalty, there was zero reaction or expression of frustration from Barella.

Perhaps the muted behavior was out of respect for his childhood club, but it was refreshing to see him so composed for once, instead of yelling and abusively hurling his hands whenever a teammate misplaced a pass.

This quiet display from Barella also happened to coincide with, easily, his best game in months. No doubt helped by Cagliari being disgracefully shit, but THIS was a captain's performance. I need to see this become the norm before I'm fully convinced but I'm hoping he's learned a lesson about controlling his temperament and I hope he keeps it up.

I might be misremembering but Kaku looks to have toned it down also this season.

But did anyone notice Bastoni getting mad at Brozovic for a mispass in the 2nd half

You are a great player but you were an idiot :palm:

Can't get over why the hell he should have banned himself vs Liverpool, by punching someone in a meaningless match.

Barella: "With Inzaghi, we are more free to express ourselves. Not because Conte forced us to do certain things but Inzaghi gives us the possibility to make choices. He has helped us at all levels. After two intense years of working on the same concept, it is needed.

Liverpool? In Europe, when you reach the knockout stage, it is inevitable to meet certain teams. You can't escape it. The level is very high because it's the CL. Liverpool are very good but I don't think they are happy to be drawn with us.

In Madrid, we dominated for 60 minutes. Then I made a mistake and I ruined the evening for myself and my teammates. I hope at least that I can be there for the return leg (vs. Liverpool)."

In the Uefa rules, a violent act equal two games ban, so I fear that we have to play whithout him against Liverpool.

The good news is that we'll recover him healthy for the quarter finals.

Hope UEFA don't find Barella's punch too violent.

I think that's the first thing you notice when watching the two Inters play. One with just 11 droids doing the same things over and over, and another one where players are free and actually able to make decisions for themselves.

Last season the game was always, ball to Brozo, pass to Barella, long ball for Hakimi or Lukaku in the space/short pass for Lukaku.

Player from the south in the heat of the moment. Lost his head for a second, probably cannot stand unsportmanship. It is annoying that those freakin` ads are so close to the pitch and he could have got himself injured due to that push, so took it out on Militao. Stupid gesture that could cost us.

BARELLA EXPLAINS HOW INTER IMPROVED WITHOUT CONTE

Nicolo-Barella-Eder-Militao.jpg

Nicolò Barella hopes he won’t receive a two-match ban from UEFA and explains how Inter have developed under Simone Inzaghi.

The Italy international was awarded as the best midfielder of the year at an event organized by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It’s been an incredible year, but it all started with the defeat in the Europa League Final. From that moment, we’ve started a work that is continuing today,” he said.
Barella won the Serie A title with Inter, the first one in his career, and the Euros with Italy. The Nerazzurri are now the table leaders with a one-point lead over city rivals Milan. “There is more competition than last year, but we have something more than the others,” the former Cagliari midfielder said.
“We have awareness and experience, we know how to win because we’ve done it already. We feel this on the pitch and our opponents feel it too.”

But how have Inter improved since Antonio Conte left?
“Inzaghi is leaving us freer to do things. That’s not to say that Conte was forcing us to do something. But Inzaghi’s charisma makes everyone feel involved, allowing us to make decisions.
“That’s something we needed after two intense seasons where we always followed the same concept.

“A few players left [in the summer], but we signed other great footballers,” the 24-year-old continued, “but we want to show we are still the best.”

Romelu Lukaku returned to Chelsea in a €115m deal, while Achraf Hakimi joined PSG for €70m. Does Barella think they regret leaving Inter?
“I don’t know. Everyone makes his own decisions. They decided to leave and others decided to stay.”

On the other hand, Barella has recently extended his contract until June 2026.
“I’ve always said that I want to stay at Inter, at least for now,” he said.
“I am happy to stay here, everyone has his own history. At the end of the career I’ll know if I made good choices.”

Will Marcelo Brozovic do the same and extend his stay at the club?
The Croat’s contract expires in the summer and many clubs, including Tottenham and Barcelona, have been linked with securing his services.
“I know Brozovic loves these colours,” said Barella. “That’s proved by the spectacular way he is playing. He loves Inter, he’s given so much to this team, even when it was difficult to play here, then the choice is up to him.”

Barella received a straight red card against Real Madrid in the last Champions League match and hopes to receive a one-match ban, so he will be available in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Liverpool at Anfield Road.
“We dominated in Madrid for the first 60 minutes, then I made a mistake and ruined our game,” the midfielder said. “I hope I can be there for the second leg.”
