A sprain would be good news with how he was grimacing the entire way back to the bench. Hopefully Sensi is ready to go sooner rather than later.

At this point, with injuries to Barella, Sensi and of significantly less importance, Gags, I'd almost rather we get eliminated from European competition altogether. Our midfield depth is horrific to handle three competitions. We're a Brozo injury away from having Vecino and Borja starting games :yao2:

Won't Borja start now anyway? We don't have Barella, Sensi or Gagliardini. Who else do we have for a 3 man midfield? Brozovic, Vecino and Borja. Even Asamoah is injured who could have filled in for Barella on the defensive part in the midfield. Only one left is Agoume who's a kid.

A kid with potential would be a lot better than an over used player who plays like a zombie.

Any news? I cant find anything really, some say small strain (couple of weeks out), some say ACL injury.

I hope the initial examinations are correct and it's only a sprain

Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport suggesting that he has suffered a sprain to his right knee.

The report details how the 22-year-old Italian landed awkwardly after challenging for the ball, before limping off the pitch looking in extreme difficulty. He reportedly told coach Antonio Conte that he “heard a crack from my knee.”

The player has undergone medical examinations today, with the initial results showing that he has avoided injuring his knee ligaments, vital in order to avoid a long rehabilitation period, the report continues.

The official statement says that the injury is serious and he needs an operation :palm:

Clinical and instrumental examinations for Nicolò Barella at the Istituto Humanitas di Rozzano after yesterday's substitution against Torino due to a distortion in his right knee. The investigations showed a detachment of a cartilaginous fragment of the patella. Barella must undergo arthroscopic fragment removal operations .

Most sources are talking about 1-2 months. It's bad but it could have been much worse.

Better than feared. Hopefully we don't rush him in and use this injury to manage to get someone extra in midfield in January.

Hmm, guess I was one of the optimists - I had read it was only a sprain so I figured a couple of weeks at most.

Oh well - Steven, can you get us another other midfielder this January? :D

Don't have one.
This is much better news than I thought tbh, I feared for the worst, 6 months or something like that...

Still don't have complete trust in these statements though, I think couple of times in the past they tried to downplay the injuries, so they could avoid panic modes...

Our luck is amazing. Not only have we been in a fucking horror movie for the latest 7-8 years but when we finally manage to get some gems and a good coach both our midfielders gets injured...

Not that bad. Ordinary human takes 4 to 6 weeks after that kind of surgery. I think he'd take less, but hopefully Sensi is fit and we dont rush him. He should be back by the end of december.

Not ideal but much better than ACL injury. Not just because of the recocery time but because of later injuries.

Time to move Skriniar to DM for 20 mins each game? Borja can't play the full match.

We have shit tons of defenders. Field Bastoni-De Vrij-Godin or Godin-De Vrij-D'Ambrosio; and we still have Rano for back-up.

I'd be curious to see that too - though I admit that one reason why I'm curious is that realistically our chances to get through to the next round - or even to beat slavia to begin with - are slim anyway, so I don't mind experimenting a little.
