Oaktree are banter era worthy owners again...i feel it in my nuts ...here we go again
oh yes, not selling our best players is surely worse than what we had before

as long as we stay competitive while starting our u23 team and find some young talent to inject into our squad, I think we are golden

I've been hoping for this since summer 2010

I haven't seen enough from Oaktree to hate them or love them. I think some of y'all are swayed by results, but if one draw in Serie A and one loss in supercoppa tilts you so much, I have bad news, buddy. We have a good squad, but not a great squad. Slip ups will happen. I expect them and I'm just along for the ride, which currently I am enjoying.

Atm I don't see a reason to not be happy as an Inter fan. As long as Marotta is here, "Banter era worthy owners" doesn't fill me with fear. I've seen Marotta dealing with bad options and coming up top, also Inzaghi can work with that as well. Obviously we'd like to see some changes, I like Dumfries but don't love him as much as I do Dimarco; I really want a new CB coming as soon as possible; the bench needs new Ashley Young, Alexis Sanchez & Victor Moses type of players that will come off the bench and have a positive contribution (the only real bench standout right now is Carlos Augusto and some of the defensive options like Bisseck and Darmian)

we know what we need - let them cook. sometimes a club buys a wrong player or miss a really good opportunity. that can happen to anybody. I'd rather believe that Marotta and co. know what they are doing no matter how brehme and some other forum members try to present marotta as

The next mercato will be an interesting one, they'll have time to plan for it properly and execute decisions, esp with some problem players like Arna and Correa leaving. They can also get rid of Mkhi and Darmian though I don't think either are worth terminating.

Yeah I'd rather keep Darmian for now, I know he is getting older, but such a good utility player. Same with Mkhitaryan, except if Paz comes or some player like that, there is space for Mkhi at our club.

Obviously there are 4 spots that are important - Acerbi's replacement, Dumfries' bench option, a 3rd option striker that will be good enough to start about 40% matches we'll play (David?), a midfielder that has an engine like Barella and can fit our midfield better than Frattesi - and after that maybe a goalkeeper. It's a tall order, we might not get everything that is needed. If we get a CB and a player like Paz, that will be something, if we make some weak ass moves, we'll be worse. :) so far I believe in Marotta and co.

Inzaghi is playing Mkhi nonstop. There's zero chance they will terminate him.

I know, was kinda my point, but just saying we do have a clause we can trigger

I think Acerbi is a more realistic option for termination. I read yesterday he is back to individual training. His fitness is becoming a problem.

Agreed just wasn't sure if we had a clause for him the same way we did the other two

This summer will tell me a lot. Oaktree want young players and Frattesi and Asllani will probably net us around 55-60 mil. That should immediately be used to sign Nico Paz and Ricci. Players ready to contribute NOW who also fit the age profile. But I have a feeling it's just going to be used for mostly fodder to fill the U23 team.

Oaktree are trash. Just for few years they will bring us back to the banter era, unless they change generally their approach

What is the approach? You can't call something an approach when there has been 1.5 transfer windows with them now. Sample size is way too small. Next summer, with their guys fully on board, everything planned, Marotta president etc.

It's a different environment altogether when it comes to the planning of the squad building.

Be patience for at least a tiny bit folks.

I find it amusing that all of a sudden, management have serious concerns about the longevity of Acerbi, Frattesi''s continued presence in the squad, Asllani not being up to standard and being booed by sections of our own fans and the respective poor contributions of Taremi and Arnautovic.

They have woken up and realised that they have a paper thin squad, no substitutes, no money and have until 3 February 2025 to try and rectify the situation: desperation hangs in the air and it very much seems like a case of too little too late.

Squad building was quite ok under the management of Marotta. Since those guys took over, everything is "signing for future". I see a trend, spending our tiny budget on very young players. I don't know, why we shall waiting for them 2,3,5 years, when their transfer policy is clear as a blue sky.

As I explained earlier there is no precedence under Oaktree reign how we are acting in a situation where we need to fill spots in the roster.

Last summer we had basically 2nd GK to be filled and LCB/LWB position for few months because of Buchanan injury. We couldn't get rid of players from the roster so we could have brought in new guys. Maybe that's a data point we can learn from, owners don't want the costs to rise because of too many players in the roster.

But, next summer will be different. So I suggest we wait.

We have a top 5 squad in the world without the revenue to match. We are owned by a PE group that was never going to open up the wallet and dump buckets of capital in. Not sure how much more you can expect.

Top 5 in quality or cost?

That I can give that if we don't do ANYTHING in this window because of the club / owner diktat, it's a bit of concerning.

There is a difference between "buckets of capital" and making targerted purchases to reinforce the squad. No one expects Oaktree to "dump buckets of capital" into the club. Our supporters are well beyond having those kind of expectations.

However, a number of acquisitions purchased for the benefit of the squad would be really beneficial at a time when the team is struggling and the reserves are not up to standard.

I don't think we are. We didn't even get past the r16 last year in CL, and the team we lost to got beaten at QF.
Meh. And this year we beat Arsenal and drew Man City who are both better than Atleti. We are 3rd in club coefficients this year and are around 7th in live betting odds to win CL (where we are chronically under wagered/underrated vs more popular clubs).
