I think we're waiting to get guys out of the team before we add.

Btw, Oaktree did add capital to cover part of the losses made last season. And the figure wasn't insignificant, it was around 45m euros.

Yeah but we also chronically underperform. In 13 years we have gotten past CL r16 like once I think?

I think this team looks great generally in the domestic league or against smaller competition, but we are a cut of quality behind anywhere like the top 5/8 in Europe. Not to say we can't beat them on a good day, but it's not the average result.

We will see where we get to in the CL this year.


That's the thing and I said this about inzaghi recently, all the videos of how he's a genius reinventing football playing the best football in Europe, etc, all stopped after we go out in the r16 to atheltico.


Id love to be proven wrong by the team about this but we keep saying how great they are - either the team are chronic underperformers or they aren't as good as we think. Up to you which one. I think they're decent but not top 5 in Europe.

We had one bad match against Atleti and lost on penalties and you're going to define the club from it? If anything in the last few years we have vastly overperformed. We are 14th in revenue and aren't in the top 10 in club player valuations and yet we are currently 3rd in the CL table and are widely regarded as far more than a "decent" club in Europe right now.
We can do this all day but I think you're underrating this club based on trauma from a decade ago when nobody around those clubs are here now.

It's not a decade ago though? It's the last 5 years. We've made it out of the round of 16 once? I think?
How can you be a top European side when you've made it out of r16 once?
There's probably some shit fuck random Portuguese side who have done better than that...

When I get home tonight let me crunch some numbers.

Why are you taking a decade of Inter's history into this conversation when this is Inzaghi's 4th year here? We've gone through 3 ownership changes, from Moratti to Thohir to Zhangs to Oaktree. After Moratti sold, around decade ago (11 years) we were absolute shit, not any kind of force, and it was downhill from there. We were in the mud for like 5 years, no CL football (so no CL stats if that's what you are after), started our rise slowly in around 2018.

This "decade ago" sounds so random, how has anything happened before last 4-5 years have any relevance?

Ok do Barcelona and Arsenal now. PSG usually makes the QF. Are they a better side than us this year? What about mighty Atleti? I am not going back to the Obama administration to determine if this club is competitive this year or not.

lets see how this season goes, but this inter has firmly, generlaly, underdelivered in the CL. I hope we make at least QFs this year, with SFs being 'above expectations' for me. Last 5 years, we've got Group, Group, R16, Final, R16 - guess what looks like an anomaly? Hopefully a good run this year will rebuild some confidence in us.

Hope to win the double, expect to win Serie A and make QF in UCL.

In a dreamworld, winning the double - I guarantee Oaktree will not be spending big and will be akin to Moratti after 2010. The bare minimum but fuck it would be good to refresh the squad with some capital.

GK for the next decade.
Promising young CB that can start; and a fucking attacker that is the next big thing (preferrably Italian) but from anyway that will have thousands excited and come watch this kid hold an Inter shirt with their number for the first time..

It's a good thing Oaktree allow Beppe to run the show (with their directives of course) instead of bringing a technocrat next to him who would only make his job more difficult.

We can moan all we want about Inzaghi, our squad depth, our players or even our management.

But the real problem is here. If we are not allowd to invest (even a reasonable amount) we are really fucked. Even more than we are atm. Our last 3 mercatos where a abomination.
