To wonder how the fk we could be burning so much money

Di Marzio said Motta is one of the names in Inter's list and he wouldn't be surprised if he ended up getting the job.

Not a bad idea if he comes with a 4231 and a decent transfer budget.

Though I'll happily trade that with a surprise CL win

If we are going the cheap route, and I don't think we have any other option, I would pick juric instead of motta. We could be in a lot of pain trying to reverse this team to play back four without any funds.

Despite the many things wrong with the current team, I still think the majority of these players are best suited to play back three, and juric with a much more measured approach than inzaghi and the same formation we are playing for four years now is the most sensible solution imo.

As a fan, I would be more excited about motta tbh, younger coach with probably a bigger ceiling but i m honestly afraid how would players like darmian, di marco, even bastoni fair in a back four.

Of course not. Only Juventus can compete with Napoli.

With this players and some other manager results in Serie A would be the same more or less.

Have to massively disagree. We have a way more talented roster than lazio, Roma, atalanta and milan.

It was a failure to lose the scudetto to milan last year. The squad got stronger in the summer with actual short term starters in mhiki and acerbi and lukaku even though he's been injured. We should not be competing against those teams. We should be easily second in the league when you consider juve 15 point penalty.

Never said we are not more talented than Roma and others. Still not close to a Scudetto contenders. Said that in the summer after Lukaku move, saying that now. Summer mercato was awful.

But that's where we currently are. We are behind Lazio and competing with Roma and milan for top 4. So the squad can't be to blame. A much stronger squad than those teams and we are behind one of them and basically level with the rest. That's a huge disappointment. If this was the bar for another manager it's a very easy season for them in the league.

Bad season in the league can happen to anyone. Especially when it's almost April and we are still active in CL. It's not like we have great depth.

I don't care too much about having comfortable lead ahead of Roma and others if we are also in 1/4 of CL with a chance to go even further. Knowing we are not Scudetto contenders anyway. Only job we have in Serie A is to secure CL next season and we are still on path to do that.

Also If we are easily Scudetto contenders Cunte would still be here and he is long gone.

People still greatly underestimate that this can go (and will possibly with Suning still here) even worse. What is now considered a failure (fight for second place),already next season could look like mission immpossible.

They aren't wrong. Maybe this side can't beat napoli to the title. But they sure as hell are better then 9 losses and being 21 points behind napoli.
9 (as of right now) losses is banter era stuff with significantly stronger squads than those inglorious years. If not for our Coppa triumph last season and surprise and somewhat lucky CL run this season, Inzaghi has truly been shocking with what he has at his disposal.

Doesn't Juric play with 3-4-3?

Does formation really matter? We have 1 CB currently who should start since we lost Skriniar so buying 2 starters at CB or buying 1 and a LB/RB that going to change much? WE need new strikers so if we need another #9 or if we need wingers.... either way we need to buy players.

It is just are we going to drop a ton of money for players a no name coach wants or do we go hey you have half a team of starters make due with what you have in the youth team.

We really only like 5-7 players to actually keep that are starter material for a team like ours in Onana, Bastoni, Barella, Cahla, Brozo and Lautaro. Bench potential starters you have DiMarco, Gosen and Damian tho we really should have a stronger starter than that. Other than that everyone else is complete shit and I don't want anything personally bad for them but want them the FK out of this team.

Hopefully Brozo gets back to being our engine and he isn't crazy old like some of you writing him off. I'd be super happy if we got a nice offer for Brozo and Onana but for now they are def in the keep. Gosen hopefully under a different coach plays much better and is a starter. At that point we have 10 guys who can play + a bench of youth players that hopefully someone is remotely decent.

Yep, that's his default formation, but he also uses a lot of variations on theme. I don't think it takes a big leap for him to change it to back three with two forwards, certainly not as big as us reverting to back four after fours years of playing something different.

Here is one of the tactical assessments I found of his time coaching verona and genoa:

While he has often implemented the 3-4-3 formation throughout his coaching career and used the 3-5-2 at Genoa, Jurić’s Hellas Verona line up in a 3-4-2-1.
However, due to the lack of quality forwards in the squad as well as the abundance of natural midfielders on the pitch, the Gialloblu’s formation is more like a 3-6-1 or 3-7-0 than a conventional 3-4-3.

And for the defensive phase:

Whenever Verona would defend, the team would be very compact and there would be limited space in between the lines.

With throw-ins, the Mastini would limit the space that was in a realistic radius for the thrower to throw the ball back into play, and at corners, the middle of the penalty area would be packed with bodies. When defending in numbers, Verona would defend in a low block and close off the central passing channels, forcing the opponents to go wide.

For this block to work, Jurić would make the midfield pivots protect the back three, the two attacking midfielders had to track back as well as the lone striker, and the wing-backs had to move close to their teammates in the central channels.
If the Gialloblu lost the ball when they were attacking, all players would come dashing back to help their defence and prevent the opposition from scoring on the counter-attack.

When the opposition had a goal kick of their own and they would play it short, it was not common for the Verona players to press the defenders in possession. More often than not, the players in attacking roles would retreat to assist the defence and midfield in the low block.

Basically, poor man's conte.

That's why I feel Juric wouldn't work at Inter. He's like Conte but without the pedigree ie. without much authority in front of a squad like what Inter has (so far). Conte had the credibility to ask the players to run like dogs but I would be very careful about going the same route with a lesser name.

Yep, you may be correct, and certainly if we by some miracle had funds for coaches with different pedigree like tuchel or pochettino, and if they wanted to come here, I wouldn't even entertain him as an option.

But as things stand right now, if inzaghi leaves our next coach will probably be someone similar, and we will have to roll a dice, so you might as well pick the safest option, with all the risks it entails.
