I dont think its a downgrade. Simone done great job in Lazio, one of the worst teams to coach in italy imo. He took some "dead players" like immobile, Leiba and above all Alberto and made them top players (in serie a level). He got the best out of SMS, Lazzari, Marusic and etc. I dont think Conte would have done better with Lazio squad and limited budget.

Imo, Inzaghi can be a great coach and he deserve this chance. I wanted Allegri, but Simone was my 2nd choice.

That is also my thought. I liked the job he did at Lazio. If it was a young couch, whom I don't mind giving a shot, that would be Simone or de Zerbi.

Considering major changes to the squad will have to be made anyway because of Suning's restraints, I think it's short-sighted to go for Inzaghi because of his formation.

Still my first choice would be Sarri. And that above Allegri. Don't buy the whole thing with tactics change and so on. We make a too much a deal of it.

While I’m not overjoyed with this hire it definitely could have been worse with the way this disaster has progressed. He’s a better option than Sarri. Last thing we need is Sarri going ape shit and causing problems in an already tumultuous situation. The only other good coach available is Zidane who wouldn’t touch this job.

Maybe we don't have to make. Sell Lukaku for something like 70m and a few kids. Try to offload Nainggolan, Mario, Vidal and Alexis. Kolarova and Young are gone. With these moves we probably have achived those 70m in cash flow and probably 10-20% of wage bill reduction.

Massive downgrade, especially in terms of mentality. Conte was a winner in different clubs and Inzaghi stayed in one club, although he did better than expected with weaker players I still doubt his mentality to cope with the pressure of a big club.

Unfortunately our goal will be top 4. Surprise me Simone.

Di Marzio saying how 4M made Inzaghi change his mind.

I am starting to believe Marotta threw all those names in order to make people be more willing to accept Inzaghi. I mean freaking Zenga?

When he realised Allegri wasn't realistic, Inzaghi became his top option.

Okay, but we'll have to bring in some replacements too. Unless you want to go into the season with less than 20 players or something.

Some of you are being ludicrously harsh on Inzaghi. What he's done with Lazio is extremely impressive.

He's a whiner? Have you guys seen one Antonio Conte?

I think some of you are falling into the trap (that I have also regularly fall in) of expecting others to do our jobs for us, and being disappointed when they dont. What I mean by this is that I'm the first to be utterly furious when Inzaghi threw the game against Milan. Naturally, we're all hoping Lazio does us a favor and beats our rival. Who doesn't love to see Milan or juve lose? Who doesn't hate Napoli right now because they choked on matchday 38?

For example, at San Siro, Lazio had all the second half momentum against Milan but then Inzaghi subbed off his best players in Immobile and SMS for some Eccellenza level shitters in Muriqi and Akpa Apro. Milan ultimately won the game. Hmm. Sound familiar? (e.g. only the 40 times Conte subbed on Gagliardini or Kolarov)

Can I ask have you seen Lazio's bench? Don't get me wrong, it pissed me off to see Lazio go down so easily to juve this season but realistically, come on. How about our own fucking dogshit performance at Turin? Disliking Inzaghi for this is one thing, disregarding him as a coach for this is ridiculous.

Don't mistake this post to be "support" for Inzaghi. Obviously he's a downgrade. Obviously I'm disappointed by the situation. But Inzaghi is not a bum. He's easily a better coach than the likes of Gattuso, Pioli and fucking Pirlo. (Don't even want to mention Mihajlovic or Zenga)

Better than Conte or Allegri? Of course not, but if (or when) we lose to juve this season, we can safely say the manager has been put in an impossible position to compete to even begin with.

Romano - Simone Inzaghi to Inter, done and completed. He’s going to be the new manager to replace Antonio Conte, contract set to be signed in the next hours. Here we go confirmed.

Amen to that. And we should thank him coming to club in this shitty situation, not like some FIF LGI demigod who abandoned sinking ship and took 7m from it. Welcome Simone and good luck!

True. I'm relieved more than anything now.

If top 4 is management's legit goal now, Inzaghi is a good choice. He also is not expensive and the players won't have to go through a big adaptation process considering his preferred formation and brand of football. Let's see who we sell next and what he'll work with next season.

Ah fucking hell. Inzaghi sits just behind Gasperini for me in terms of people I hate in Serie A.

Whatever, let's see what the mercato looks like.
