We alredy know that Marotta pulled the plug on Ausilio`s Spinazzola swap with Politano, so not sure what the actual relationship is between them. The guy strongly linked to us for Ausilio`s job was just fired BTW.

Genoa: Faggiano dismissed for just cause

In a shock move, Genoa have officially fired director of sport Daniele Faggiano, who only joined the club in August.

Rumours emerged this morning of problems between President Enrico Preziosi and the director of sport. Suddenly, a few hours later, a statement was released confirming Genoa had sacked Faggiano.

Genoa's ex-director of sport Daniele Faggiano was reportedly dismissed for just cause with the Grifone that have already brought in his replacement.

Faggiano was suddenly sacked by the Grifone on Saturday and according to Il Secolo XIX the Rossoblu believe their former director was dismissed for ‘just cause’.

Faggiano had joined Genoa in the summer but some disagreements and tensions with president Enrico Preziosi and some Genoa players led to his sacking.

“It had to be done,” President Preziosi told the Secolo XIX newspaper on Sunday.

“This is not a situation I took pleasure in, but it was necessary. I won’t get into it, because I don’t like to talk about my employees and judge their behaviour.

“[Francesco] Marroccu is in charge now and knows the club, so can help us achieve our objective.”

Genoa confirmed the appointment of Marroccu on Sunday. He had already been Genoa director of sport from December 2019 to August 2020.

If Italian media are to be believed at the end of last season their relationship was pretty good and they were even on the same side. It was Conte who wanted Ausilio gone. At a point it looked like it would be either Conte or Ausilio but somehow Zhang managed to keep everyone.

not sure if this the right thread, but I wanted to emphasize that our younger politic is a disaster. A report about our young jewels being benched in numerous clubs:
https://www.fcinter1908.it/copertina/esposito-pirola-vagiannidis/

In a nutshell: only Dimarco and Salcedo are getting enough minutes. Mulattieri is playing a lot, but it is Volendam, second tier team from Netherlands.
We've get two prospects last summer - Vaggianidis and Darian Males and they seem to be waste of money, because they're not playing at all. Moreover, I didn't see them on the bench. Vaggianidis was loaned out to St Truiden where he should play a lot, but he is probably too weak even for mediocre Belgian team. The idea about loaning Males to Genoa was not the best, because there are a lot of better strikers in front of him, he should start from Serie B team imo. Genoa is fighting in relegation battle, so they will rely on experience players like Pandev or Destro.
It is really disappointing to mention that Sebastiano Esposito spent last matches on the bench. He get a lot of minutes in the beginning of the season, but lost the starting spot in Serie B side, SPAL.
Agoume had few nice appearances in Spezia, but I expected more, he could easily be key player of a Serie B team.
Pirola is not playing at all, because Monza had few nice defenders and they play with 4 in the back while Pirola seems to be more accustomed to back 3.
Gabriel Brazao once again cannot get starting spot and had just 3 appearances in this season.

When you consider that Primavera matches are suspended it seems to be difficult for our young players to develop. We're investing a lot of money in the youngster and the only interesting player we get was sent to Roma...

The problem is that our loan structure is based on building relations with other clubs more than it has to do with actually developing players. Ever since the Bosman ruling there was no incentive by Inter to develop its own players. The same applies with both Milan and Juventus as well as every other top team not named Real Madrid and Barcelona. The difference being that they wanted to save money for top talent and have a good enough standard of young players coming through their ranks. Barcelona sort of abandoned this under Bartomeu.

Milan was the only club that managed to attempt to recover this with partial success (in terms of individuals) but they've not been at a level that justifies calling the entire project a success, nor is it a high enough number of players, even if you include Manuel Locatelli who left. Maybe this year they'll see some primavera kids playing for their side for years to come, and if they become a regular CL fixture again we can say that it paid off.

Our time to do this was back in 2013 but instead we fucked up hard and wasted tons of money on mediocrity. From 2013 to 2016 we could have promoted several players and had similar or perhaps even better results. Guys like Benassi, Biraghi, Bonazzoli, Khrin, Dimarco, Gnoukouri, Bessa, Longo, Bakayoko, Miangue, Mbaye etc could have held roster spots over some players we brought in that added pretty much nothing and were obvious that they'd be mediocre signings.

But as a club we do not care about this for 25 years now, just like the system dictates. You shouldn't really care about this as long as you have money. And we've been in a situation where we didn't have money, due to FFP, that this was more desirable than not. And still, our talent pool wasn't that special anyway so we can say that we wasted something like 50m over 3 seasons where we could have developed some players, but the results wouldn't have been that much better for us.

I just hope you defend your father or mother the way you defend Ausi. I am not saying he doesn't deserve it.

This board was jizzing all over the c Mario and gabigol signings. If this club was run by the supporters it would be even more of a shit show.

In terms of results or trophies how many trophies would his contract renewal bring? Ausilio and trophies don’t mix.

I am happy that we get rid of mediocrity out of this club.

...at least I dont have to see Ausilio leading a “project” once again. Coz he is a joke at that task.

Ausilio is a bald fraud.
...
He might be semidecent at operating a fax machine brehme, but he ain't no fucking sporting director.

Ausilio has no vision, no strategy.

This dumb cunt getting fired would be by far our best move of the mercato

How this fraud still in the job?

The day of his sacking is getting closer.

The most overrated director in Italy. ... and we haven't won or even competed for a single trophy since he's been put in a prominent decision making role.

Time makes more converts than reason gentlemen. Your names have been noted. Everything is proceeding just as I have foreseen.

Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio: “No Plans To Sell Players, Mourinho Will Make Huge Impact At Roma”

Piero Ausilio has reassured Inter supporters that there are no plans to sell key players in the summer.

Inter secured their first Serie A title in 11 years on Sunday but the Nerazzurri remain in a difficult financial position, with uncertainty over the future of head coach Antonio Conte.

Reports in Italy have speculated that Inter might need to sell some of their stars to balance the books, but Ausilio has moved to quash those rumours for the time being.

“Our idea is to do things well and we’re not thinking about selling players,” Inter’s sporting director told Sky Sport Italia today, after taking part in wild celebrations for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title at Appiano Gentile.

“It’s premature to talk about these things though, we’ve not discussed the matter yet.

“I know which players are considered key and we’ll make sure the best players stay, while also making our sporting needs coincide with our economic requirements.

“We like winning and we want to continue to do so.”

Conte’s future remains in doubt because Inter’s head coach has yet to meet owners Suning to discuss their plans for the club.

Asked for his views on what Conte was likely to do, Ausilio said: “The coach has a desire to prove himself again, just like all of us here.

“We want to develop and keep improving, but we need to be honest and affront issues which will be dealt with at the right moment.

“There are economic situations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic which have led to reduced revenues around the world.

“I don’t think we’ll have an official meeting (with Conte) like we did last summer (at Villa Bellini), there’ll be meetings like in all other seasons but in a normal manner and in a private setting.”

Ausilio was asked for an update on Inter’s various contract talks with players, most notably Alessandro Bastoni and Lautaro Martinez.

“We haven’t suspended any talks (in order to focus on the scudetto),” he assured.

“A lot of them are already sorted, like with Bastoni; we’ve had talks over his contract many times and we’ve almost reached the end (of negotiations).

“Once we’ve resolved the club’s new financial projects we’ll think about contract extensions, starting with Bastoni.

“With Lautaro we were at a good stage in talks, but he’s changed his agent and we’ll need to reopen all the negotiations, if not start again.”

Ausilio insisted he did not want to think about Inter’s plans for next season yet because the Nerazzurri still had games to play this season.

“The moment to plan everything hasn’t arrived yet, there are four games left and we need to honour the league as best we can and finish the season well.

“Then we’ll have time to sort everything with the coach and the club, but we first want to enjoy this success and we’d like to do it soon with our fans as well.”

Pushed on what it takes to create a winning cycle, Ausilio responded: “I’m fairly certain that we’ll have to be capable of maintaining the quality of this team, while also thinking most of all about the financial aspect.

“Up until this year I’ve only been focused on creating a virtuous cycle; now we’ve finally managed to win a trophy, but I don’t have the experience yet on how to marry the two concepts.”

Conte has transformed Inter’s fortunes by giving them a winning mentality and Ausilio explained why he was the perfect coach to get the Nerazzurri winning again.

“All these years in which we hadn’t won anything had added pressure that only a winner like Conte could have handled,” he said.

“He’s the added value of this team, but there are excellent and capable people at Inter in every area of the club.

“I thought there’d be many teams fighting for the Serie A title at the start of the season, but we have a great squad with quality and Conte has made the difference.

“He’d probably have done the same if he’d been in charge of other teams, but thankfully we have him here.”

Christian Eriksen was a key figure in the second half of the season for Inter and Ausilio was full of praise for the Danish midfielder’s dedication.

“He is an unbelievable professional, he surprised us (as well as everyone else).

“It took him a while to integrate himself into the side, but we’re really happy to talk about the contribution he’s given to the team now.”

Ausilio also spoke about the news of Jose Mourinho returning to Serie A, after Roma announced the Special One as their next head coach yesterday.

“He will make a huge difference,” Ausilio assured.

“Mourinho is a brilliant coach who will do very well at Roma, but he’ll be good for all of Italian football.

“He’s a positive character who’ll give everyone lots to talk about, on and off the pitch.

“I’m very happy to have him back among us in Serie A.”

Asked if Inter had ever really had the chance to rehire Mourinho, Ausilio assured: “No, there has never been the possibility or the opportunity.

“We were on a difficult journey and we weren’t ready as a club back then to reappoint Mourinho.

“We started this process and now we’ve concluded it today with a positive ending, after a lot of hard work and thanks to Conte.”

Former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani reveals the battles with Inter to sign Geoffrey Kondogbia and Matteo Pessina, with Piero Ausilio confessing he got the worst end of both deals.

The two rival clubs share San Siro, a city and also many of their transfer objectives, something that goes back many years.

Sometimes the toughest fights were for players who did not end up being well remembered.

“I did everything to sign Kondogbia and Inter did well to beat us there, but I also paid for a very poor rapport between Nelio Lucas and his agent,” revealed Galliani during today’s event in Rimini marking the start of the transfer window.

Inter ended up signing Kondogbia from Monaco for €36m in 2015, so Milan turned to a far cheaper alternative.

“Monza went bankrupt on July 1, 2015. I could’ve signed Pessina for free, but his father – who was also taking care of their bankruptcy proceedings – told me they needed €30,000 to pay the wages of their employees on June 30,” continued Galliani.

“We could’ve got Pessina for free a day later, but we decided to pay the €30,000 and that way we snatched him out from under Inter’s noses.”

Inter director Ausilio was at the event too and admits they didn’t come out well from that scenario, as Kondogbia was an absolute flop.

“He spent €30,000 for Pessina, we spent €30m for Kondogbia. With hindsight, it would’ve been better for us to get Pessina, seeing how that went. Let’s just say the investment we made did not pay off with his performances.”

Although Pessina was sold to Atalanta for just €1.78m in 2017, they do retain 50 per cent of any future sale, with the midfielder now making a big splash with two goals for Italy at UEFA EURO 2020.

The article posted above by Il Drago on Piero Ausilio aged pretty horribly.

From: “Our idea is to do things well and we’re not thinking about selling players”.

To selling Hakimi.

Hakimi has been already sold, this interview was given on the 30th of June when the calciomercato was "opened" (directors all in the same event in Rimini, giving interviews etc).

No worries guys, I'm sure Pessina would have been the part of the Nainggolan deal, with Zaniolo, and instead of Santon. Therefor we dodged a bullet here.

So, realistically speaking, we got rid of Santon thanks to missing out on Pessina. I'm joking, but I'm not sure how far off from reality it is.

I couldn't find a thread for Ausilio, so I thought I'd create one.

His interview last night was very interesting. Seeing him talk about players he's tracking was interesting.

Chicheres, Ogbonna, and Lichnovsky for CB.

Jung possibility

Funes, Quintero, Markovic
, and a couple others on the radar too.

Very interesting. I have a lot of respect for him as our sporting/youth director.
with hindsight, we can conclude he had been watching trash

Ausilio: "We never lost heart, we looked each other in the face. Losing people of that caliber might have seemed like a huge mountain to climb, but that's the beauty of this sport because you immediately have another chance"
"Painted worse than it was, you can't give up at the first difficulties. Losing a coach like Conte and a player like Hakimi and then later Lukaku and Eriksen could have killed anyone, not us"

This is what Ausilio told Sky Sport Italia.

Seems like a subtle dig at Conte ;) he just gave up.
