MODRIC WANTS INTER
- The Croatian is pushing to leave but must get the green light from Real Madrid.
- Inter are waiting for the player to talk to Real Madrid. In the meantime, Vidal is in a hurry: agent landed in Milan.
THE CHOICE OF MODRIC
- There is the yes to Inter but he must be freed away. And Vidal is in a hurry...
- The Chilean's agent is in Milan: wants to understand how the situation is evolving.
- The Croatian, meanwhile, has given his availability, now it is up to his agents to mastermind an exit from Real Madrid.
It is a bit like when you go shopping to make a nice dinner at home then, when you least expect it, there is an invitation to dinner that you cannot refuse. It is like this because Inter could not have imagined that one day they would be approached by Luka Modric’s representatives - officially assisted by his wife Vanja Bosnic - with an incredible four words: “Do you want Modric?”
The answer was a smile. This was where flirtation started to happen, a sort of mission impossible for the Inter executives. That homemade dinner was already prepared and it is still there, it is called Arturo Vidal as the Chilean remains in the hands of sporting director Piero Ausilio. And it cannot be a coincidence that last night, the agent of Vidal, Fernando Felicevich, was spotted in the center of Milan. But Inter are not thinking of closing this deal just yet. The reason is simple: Inter want to fully understand more about that dinner invitation and to see if it could be materialized.
THE ARRIVAL - On one hand, Inter are going through all the pros and cons of the deal with Bayern Munich, economically as well as technically. On the other hand, Vidal does not want this seduction to end up being abandoned. This is why through his agent Felicevich, he is pushing Inter to hurry up and close it all.
The arrival of his agent in Milan should be read in this direction: “let me know if you want this marriage to be done.” These are the “hot” hours and Inter just cannot keep their feet into two buckets for too long. In any case, Vidal operation is not closing today (Thursday) and the rumors of medical visit set for Friday have been denied. Negotiation with Bayern Munich is ready: 18-20 million overall between loan and option to buy, three-year deal at 4.5 million per season.
IN SARDINIA - There is no negotiation for Modric because Inter are not in a position to knock on the door the Real Madrid to ask for the price of the Croatian. For players of this level, moreover, it does not work this way. It was not the case even for Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus, a negotiation that was entirely designed by Jorge Mendes who then gave the key of the deal to Juventus.
Here, Inter are waiting. If Modric’s agents received the ok to leave from Real Madrid at a favorable price, but especially at the conditions imposed by Inter - the famous loan with option to buy - then the deal can come alive. Because what Ausilio understood loud and clear in the conversation with the player’s agents is that Modric - who is on vacation in Porto Cervo - has put the idea of joining Inter in his head.
It may seem surprising for someone who plays for Real Madrid but there is the total enjoyment of the Croatian to the possibility of wearing black and blue. The reasons? There are many: the Croatian colony at Inter, the feeling of having closed his cycle at Real Madrid, the idea of trying an experience in Serie A after Premier League and La Liga. But certainly a significant reason is the tax issue in Spain that is involving many players. Which in some way could encourage the desire to leave La Liga of several star players.
WAGE - If everything went well, then at that point, Inter would start to study the formula for Modric’s wage. The club is confident that they would find a way to support it which at first glance seems very complicated. The midfielder makes 10 million euros at Real Madrid for two more seasons. Obviously, in order to bring it closer, Inter will have to offer the Croatian a lower salary but longer contract duration, probably a four-year deal. And for someone who is almost 33 years old (September 3rd), this huge investment should be evaluated to the end.
But at that point, we would have already entered phase two. It would mean to have completely abandoned Vidal and maybe even other alternatives which for the moment have not been taken into consideration. Inter are currently dancing on two tables: on one side there is a bad ass Chilean and on the other there is a Croatian who sings with the ball. Flammable material, opponents should handle with care.
