The below scatter plot shows the most prominent former Inter primavera players of the century. The X axis is the number of caps the player had for Inter in their career. The Y axis shows the maximum (peak) value the player has had on Transfermarkt, in millions. I think Bonucci isn't technically an academy graduate, but I included him anyway.

Excellent work.

Based on the discussions going round on FIF at the moment, I wonder what it would look like to plot the value we sold each academy play for, against the total number of top-league caps they got.

Biraghi looks undervalued. I didn’t like him for much of the time he played for us, but his end product is fantastic. Whenever I’ve watched Fiorentina, he always looked one of their most dangerous players.

He’s certainly not half the player that Dimarco is.

I keep hearing how broke we are .... yet it's been like 5 seasons with 0 transfer budget yet no youth players are given shots. DiMarco only got a shot because Persic wouldn't renew even then we got Gosen who didn't work out.

Bastoni was like 30m haha so not a youth player we can just not play. Then we spent what 12-15 million on 2 exciting youth prospects to give them 5-10 games each? At most.

people blame Inzaghi but what Inter coach has use youth players we had like 20 since 2010 coaches and just actually used 3-4. Obi situation was just super odd. We kept bringing him back but not playing him

Mancini is the one who constantly used them , which is proven even during his time with the national team now.
Rafa was also keen to use youngsters

But usually is the clubs policy to rely on youngsters or not , no manager would have an incentive to play youngsters and try to develop them vs rely on proven players who can deliver results short term.

Maybe in the next week or so I'll do a bunch of analytics about this. I have a Sankey diagram in mind, but I'm not quite sure yet how to do it. It'd be a lot of hard work, though.

It does get a little complicated when you consider players with multiple stints at the club.

Would anyone be interested in helping me collate the data? I'm planning to get the info on every single Inter primavera player (as listed on transfermarkt) between 2009-2010 to 2018 or 2019 (the data will look up till they are 22), so start to map out the journey etc and see what you 'need' to do to succeed

It looks something like this:

Will be quite a lot of manual work, but it should be superinteresting when done

I'm working on it. It does takes time to track and adding this data.
The spreadsheet is editable. Blue sheet color indicates completion, green on progress, and red unfinished.
