I have to say that the African Fight is really really tough, in all groups, 2 teams are testing each others limits.
Except in Group C, each of Egypt, Cameroon and Cote de Ivoire have a chance at being in Germany. This is the death group, this is THE GROUP TO WATCH.
one of tyhe hottest antisipated matches in Africa is now the Egypt-CDI match next Sunday.
CDI is 3 ponits ahead of Egypt, with Cameroon only 1 point ahead.
If Egypt loses, the posibility of being qualified will be reduced from 45% up til now to 1%, may be even less.

Come on Egypt!!! They are one of the best teams in Africa, but they have so much internal problems that they end up not making it to the WC.

There so many good players in Egypt whether playing in Europe, domestically or in the arab leagues.

I hope they make it and beat out Cameroon and Cote D'Ivoire.

Well I hope it's a hattrick! :D

I am not well informed on African football but I am definetely following Nigeria for obvious reasons, Cameroon will be more interesting to follow now too.

Yeah, Livescore changed it too. That last Obodo goal is now an Oba goal. :)

Here is the African story for those interested:

Too bad for Ivory Cost, they were close to making it for the first time ever, but a last-minute goal for Cameroon should give them the advantage.

Nigeria is tied on points with Angola, another potential first-timer, with one game to play. Unfortunately, Nigeria plays third place Zimbabwe, who still has a chance to qualify. While Angola plays last-place Rwanda. However, thanks to their big win over Algeria, Nigeria has a superior goal difference. But Angola has a better head-to-head record, wich is the tie-breaker.

Togo should make if for the first time ever, they lead Senegal by two points. Another first-timer is Ghana, and they lead DR Congo by three points.

Finally, the massive next game is between North African rivals, Tunisia and Morocco. The African Nations Cup winner, Tunisia, lead Morocco by a single point. And it's all to play for on October 8 in Tunis. This is the only game that is like a play-off, with the winner assured of a spot.

Tunisia has the advatange of the single point and the home stadium, but Morocco will be itching to avenge their loss to the same team in the same stadium last year in the final of the African Cup.

Well South Africa didn't qualify but what do you expect when you hire an totally unproven coach like baxter who didn't do crap in english football had some succes in japan but thats it. :fero:

BTW Nigeria might not make it. If Angola win their last game away vs rwanda they go through and nigeria stays home on head-head. I am sure but I think this is the case.

I hope angola makes it for the very simple reason that if nigeria don't qualify for the world cup the chances of oba martins going to the african nations cup in january are very slim.

So Forza Angola. :D :D

BTW wome made a howler of a mistake which led to one of drogba's goals.

OMG, was that him? I was hoping it wasn't! It was a bad mistake, he turned an innocent ball into a juicy ball for the winger.

About Angola, that is an evil thought Stefan :D But I know what you mean, but knowing Nigeria, they will ban Martins for life if he skips the Nations Cup for no reason.

He skipped it last time saying his friends ( Inter) needed him more. ;)

Damn, too bad for oba, 2 goals, leading his team to a 5-1 victory but still not enough, Angola qualified, infact cameroon also failed to qialify, along with senegal. Tough times for former african giants

Hard to believe Nigeria and Cameroon, arguably the two best African footballing nations, couldn't qualify. Oba also seems to be the new star of Nigeria but alas he'll have to wait till 2010 to get his chance. Good thing he's still young. ;)

That is soo selfish...Just imagine you were in his position.

I cant believe Cameroon and Nigeria wont be there..I guess if you overcame them and their stars you deserve to be in the WC.I am glad Tunisia made it but sad for Morocco too.

actaully cameroon needed to win there game and they were leading 1-0 at halftime, then in the second half egypt equalised, then cameroon got a penalty in 95th minute, last action of the game.!! And there player missed it, i dont know who it was, not eto. As soon as he missed it, they all started crying, it was really sad.
And b/t, Stefan that is really selfish, imagine if we had some s,african player like MCcarthy playing for inter, Would u have felt the same way??

I am sad nigeria won't be there, but as ivory coast supporter I am glad they are on WC

no need to cry for cameroon and their stars, elephants have them too:
drogba, kolo toure, bonaventura kalou, kanga akale, aruna dindane, arunina, aruna kone, romaric, tebily, zokora,...

lot of them are allready great popular players

EDITED: the player that misse'd the penalty for cameroon in 95th minute is

PIERRE NLEND WOME!

OMG! he is going to kill himself
