Where is our forum founder anyway?

I don't have a huge desire to undertake a project like this, and let's be honest, it's going to be me who has to do it.

I've always like the straw poll nature of LGI because it captures the sentiment at a moment in time. I don't want to turn LGI into some sort of calculation. I always refuse to put Ronaldo in LGI out of respect to our forum founder.

With that being said, if there's an actual desire to do something about this from more than four forum members, the summer would be the time. We need content so you all don't get yourselves banned talking about politics during July and August.

I strongly disagree with this "project".

Arguments will start from the meritocracy of being inducted in LGI. Different persons have different criteria. Who's gonna decide the criteria? FIF dictators a.k.a. mods or a committee of FIF wisest members?

Also sentiment plays a big part on how we see current and past players and there's no stat or criteria that can replicate that.

Lastly, i disagree about the suggestion to put a time gap between a player's departure and the vote. The more time passes the less we remember about a player's time at Inter. It's better to decide when it's still fresh in the memory. An emotional decision. Before time plays its part and affects our memory.

System is fine as it is. It's decided based on a majority vote. Nothing more fair than that. People don't like it because they disagree with the results. That's their problem. I also disagree with some of the results but i don't expect everyone to agree with me. I just accept majority vote and move on. And that's my suggestion to everyone else.

We can set 2-3 variants and have a poll. And in the poll one of the options would be to keep things as they are of course.


A lot of former players that belong to LGI status are forgotten or unknown, so this method would slot them in there. Would make people acknowledge them more.
And at this stage it's extremely unlikely that anyone who transfers out will be voted in that category anyway. So sentiment goes both ways. Upon retirement, another story.

But still, majority vote shouldn't take place the same day of departure. It's not optimal by any means.

Anyhow.

I'll make an Excel file and try to quantify this. Will then forward to pier to improve it and make it look nicer


Basically the idea I have in mind is to have 3 categories:
- No contest Hall of Fame
- Debatable
- No chance at Hall of Fame

The current system is vague and all over the place, but it's never been a real problem. Nobody argues about Zanetti or Bergomi or Facchetti. We all know they are LGI. No need to explain it with a formula or checkboxes or stats.

But if we start adding rules and metrics, suddenly we're in tier list youtube land, you know those S, A, B tier ones, who are interesting at first but quickly become dumb. We stop celebrating our players but rather start ranking them. Feels like we're sitting there trying to figure out if Cambi is a high A or low S instead of just saying man was a beast and one of the smartest players we ever had, like EVER. Had grit, brains, heart, everything. And now we'd be checking if he ticks enough boxes for an S? i mean...come on

That opens even more super long posts that will lead to nowhere. Especially the "debatable" part. For the longest time i thought Ibra should be LGI no questions asked, especially after the Parma goals that got us the title, but then he turned out to be a massive cuck of a human, and I came to this realization after his time in Milan, so him going to Milan didn't have much affect on that, Milan or no Milan, he was a Juve player before, if he spits blood while in the club, contributes massively in silverware, then Im fine... However the human aspect doesn't play well with me, and this is a "me" aka "jane" problem I'm fully aware of that.

But then i see someone like Figo in LGI and im like, oh well, clearly that category is a joke, so what does a club icon like Zanetti do in that joke of a category?

And then one either makes that category very strict where all the stars align in order for a player to get in, or next thing we know Nagatomo aka nagashit aka nagaturd is part of that LGI-not-so-grande-club-after-all.

So what do we do with this? Do we just leave it as is, a somewhat respected thing for us on the forum, the community of people that have been here for years, or do we go in and start fixing something that doesn't really need fixing and end up making it worse?

Feels like what we actually want is a way to give props to players who meant something to us even if they're not exactly legends, because as I said you don't need any tier or category to know Zanetti or Mou are legends.

Not sure how many of you are hockey fans, but I figured since the trade deadline (transfer window) has just closed, this is where hockey gets interesting with the playoffs coming in about 6 weeks.

Who's your team? Obviously from my avatar, I'm a San Jose Sharks fan.

The really inaccurate parts of this map would be the Florida Panthers part as well as the Blackhawks, I'm pretty sure there are Chicago Blackhawks fans in Wisconsin.
