We have discussed this subject before. Here you get a chance to vote for your option of choice. :)

Personally I vote for the titles to fall as soon as possible and I think we must aim for that. The fans have waited too long already and hopefully a title or two will spark a new golden era for our club. I understand those who say they wanna build a team of young players but personally I think it´s a better strategy to go out and construct a strong team capable of winning right away.

Certainly this is the beginning of a project so patience is needed. I didn´t expect much from this season but I will from the dawn of the next.

I personally don't see much differences in the two. If we get success as soon as possible, we would definitely be able to attract players to come to join a successful Inter while keeping players like Adriano or Martins in the club. Long-term success planning would also never work with a president like Moratti who would sell a player if things go wrong in a season.

I prefers the second option.

In my oppenion it's better to buy some young players and then intergrate them into the team and then keep them for many years, in the long terme it will make our team much more consistent, and give us alot more trophys. Instead of buying allredy proven players in the late 20's or early 30's, we all know that they won't be around for long, and when thier level fall, Inter have to go out on the trasfer market again. Then we will have to build a new team up again and again and again. In the long run it will coast us alot more money, and we won't get near as many trophys if any at all. You can just look at our recent history, have it helped us to get allredy proven players hell NO.

My teori is not bad, just look at man utd, they have the exact same teori as I have, and they have won alot of trophies on that account in the 90's.

I voted for the first option.

We've been waiting for a scudetto for more than 16 years, if I'm not wrong. (we last won the scudetto in 1988 right?) So, nothing can be better than winning the scudetto as fast as possible and exclaiming that we ARE still one hte best around. But it actually all depends on what you mean by long term planning, and how long exactly. If it takes more than 3 seasons, then I say forget it.

We won our latest Scudetto in 1989.

One of the reasons I want to build success in 1 or 2 seasons is that you never know how long a leash you have under Moratti. We are Inter, we´re so good we have to challenge for trophies every season. I guess I´ll be happy about winning Coppa Italia this season but next season my dreams are much bigger. By then our team will have grown and hopefully completed with the players we need.

Technically, you can have quick success and longterm planning in the same basket. What is really required, is a good coach, a confident mentality and most importantly, great transfer scouts. The ingredients are all there for this club to explode on the world stage and to stay that way for sometime.

But, ultimately, longterm success is always more important than short-term ones. I don't think anybody would vote against several years of success. ;)

That means we haven't won a scudetto for 16 years... Man, that's long... :depress:

In some cases you can have it both ways. However, there is still a distinct difference between buying Kompany, Diego and God knows who from buying Samuel and Ronaldinho. The former are like seeds which require time to grow while the latter are like buying a bunch of whole new trees. The trees will cast fruits soon while the seeds will slowly grow, die or blossom into new trees.

Some might not see the former 3 as seeds you know? There is no way to restrict talent and quality - they are inherent talents by birth. :)

The answer for me is not as simple as black and white as there are a lot of issues to be raised.

How do you define 'long-term'? 5 years? 10+ years? For me, a run of successful 5 years is already a very long term. Hence, we don't need to get the Diegos or Robinhos. Established players who are still at their mid-20s can also be bought. I'm talking about players like Walter Samuel or Steven Gerrard or Vicente etc. These are players who has already stamped their authority all over Europe and although they are not young, they will maintain their level for a good 5 years or so.

Buying a young unproven player and hoping that they will turn up to be good in the future is very risky. We have seen too many next Maradonas or Peles and it's just ridiculous. We need a very very good scouting system if we are to get these kids. D'Allesandro, Saviola, Riquelme, Luis Fabiano, Ortega; these kids have basically all flopped despited being hyped in the past.

For me, the best way is definitely to mix them up. Have a few of experienced players who are in their 30s at the club. They will be the leaders and teachers to the other players. Add up some established players in Adriano or Stankovic and spice 'em up with youngsters like Martins and Della Fiore or so. This way, we are aiming at both instant and long-term success at the same time.

Have a short term plan is foolish its the way Leeds,Viola,Parma and Lazio got into their troubles. We must have a long term strategy.

We need to stick with our coach and let him get the players he thinks will take us forward in the coming years.

Patience should be our moto and keyword.

You all raised good points.

I think Inter need confidence. We have the players, we have the coach, we have all we need to succeed. To win the title you need a bit of luck too, and luck often goes to people who believe in themselves.

That's why I voted option 1, victory now is what we need. This could give us that winning mentality and help us make the extra step that separate us from success.

interesting topic... i would to inter sign YOUNG players, who win trophies in future... but it's problem  all coatches, fans, and managers are too impatient (i fought it word in dicionary, so i don't know it's good word ... ;) ), inter sell too many good players, who will be better in future... :( Pandev, R. Carlos, Pirlo... etc.

One can look at this question in many different ways, but I choose to think that long-term would mean that we might have to wait for another few years (if we're lucky) before we start winning any trophies and I just wouldn't wish that. We've waited so long to win something of importance and have yet to do so, and to be honest it doesn't look likely that we'll win either competition that we are fighting for. Other then that, I'd like to see Mancio start producing some results in as soon as possible and hope for the best of both worlds; in terms of instant success and being able to attract players from around the world to secure a bright future.

At this point, I'd just like to see Inter gaining respect by either winning the scudetto or the CL. It means the world to all of us, and just winning it will keep us in euphoria for a very long time. We may all hope for long-term goals and such, but in reality - we simply want a fantastic season ending in a trophy as soon as possible.
