So, basically Rafa has completed phase 2 of his plan and converted us into Liverpool. We'll be crap in the league but his job will be safe, solely because of the Champions League.

I just hope he does well since it seems we are stuck with him no matter what for at least a year, the CL is not so important all I want is a proper fight against those Milan bastards and a revenge derby win. I don't think I could take it if Ibra wins it for them.

I'm glad there are still people on these boards with common sense, like you Toninu, or Rain, or Rockball (and few others)

...............:palm:

So, did we have so many injuries ? NO. Did we have many injuries before the season started ? NO. When the injuries started to happen ? After 4-6 weeks of the season of PLAYING exactly like that - constant running etc. What it means ? It means, the players were not USED to it + the last season, and so the boddies started to protest.

..................:palm: Ok great Luka feels we walked our way to a treble. Now that we start running it is to much for these hardened athletes.

Our key players played A LOT last year, and were also drained psychologicaly. This is not debatable, and I think everybody will agree. I think also everybody will agree that it's fair to say that it took some toll (some say more some less, but I think it's undeniable that it DID take some toll) on those players.

Not only are you a master football tactician and Physiologist. You also seem to have a degree as a master in Psychology.

Rafa said in the interview, that he HAD to take a notch down from his liverpool regimes (that just shows, how much Liverpool players did to prepare them for the season),

While having some of the best seasons a team can hope for !

Btw I'm not anti-Rafa.... I find it hilarious how people defend him or this situation till death. Being stubborn while bringing up walls of text lacking any confidence regarding this debate. Seriously if you want to defend this man then do so in a more straightforward manner.

Oh and another thing.. Saw what happened with Natalino last night ?? Remember what happened in our game against Bilan ?? "Subsitutes" Great way to let them substitute only for them to be drawn back. You make a player warm up or prepare him for a substitute.. But you don't have him on the sidelines waiting and then retreating him back. It's embarassing and does more harm then good.. as was seen by Natalino's expression against Motta.

In terms of running, which drains the energy more: pressing the other team constantly high up the pitch, trying to win the ball early, or sitting on our ass, waiting for the opposition to make a mistake ?

ps. Don't miss what I'm saying. I'm not saying you don't have to run when you "sit on your ass".

Not only are you a master football tactician and Physiologist. You also seem to have a degree as a master in Psychology.
I don't have to have a master in astronomy, to know that earth is not the only planet in our solar system.

They had better in previous years. Benitez was also doing the pre-season with them, did he not ?

Btw I'm not anti-Rafa....
I'm not pro-Rafa either.

ps. BTW.

What's the problem ? A coach can't change his mind in last minute, just like any human being on the planet ? Maybe he saw something since he order a substitution, that required other sub.

As for Milan, from what I remember, only one substitution was "canceled". The other was done after some injury occured. (I'm not sure 100% with this though).

no, coaches can't change their minds at the last minute, i would think someone with a wide knowledge of the game like you would know that, a coach changing his mind at the last minute means that he doesn't have a plan, it means that he's making decisions on the spur of the moment, what kind of coach doesn't know what to do in certain basic situations during a match? down by a goal and doesn't know whether he wants to bring on a full back or a DM, didn't he think he would ever be a goal down? didn't he plan for it? apparently not

also, it shows weakness, it causes your players to lose their confidence in you, if you think it's ok what rafa is doing with the subs then tell what other coach in the world has ever done that more than once?

well done rafa, good win with a good performance based on possession and style, it should have been 3-4 goals but 60% winning ratio in the CL is unherd of at inter in the last 2 years so thats a start, but another couple of victories like this in the league, and the gap should be 6-7 points then bag the world club cup and suddenly the dynamics change.... i have been busy on a special project due to my forced injury lay off from forza inter and it's training regime;) it's non football.non rafa, and non liverpool, non inter related, once it's done i will introduce you all to a new vibrant and dynamic community that you would all want to be part off...;)

don't know what to say after this game

first half could have gone either way, with bad luck this thread would already be in the former section.
The goal was somehow lucky but after that we really looked convincing and could have scored more.

But again, we played at HOME against TWENTE. A loss and we would have embarrassed us in europe.
One goal in the first half and everything would have been messed up again.

But kudos to Benitez. He changed the tactics and let his stubbornness go. He needed luck and we were lucky but he deserved it.
But this one game don't change my opinion 100%.

So you are saying Inter didn't press the other team under Mou ?? If I recall Inter worked incredibly hard much harder then the current Inter.. Now we have most of the time a team with a static nature passing the ball sideways and backwards with no progression whatsoever. Our great games over the past few weeks in Serie A should shed some light on this matter.

Do you realize how weak Benitez makes himself be ?? As a leader you LEAD. You stand by your decisions , it shows confidence. You don't take away players at the last second before substitution. An intelligent and calm person would await the situation with Cordoba before calling Natalino.

It simply lacks respect..

Funny. That's almost all I've heard about this topic from 2 commentators of the game today, 1 in the studio, and 1 during the game.

Both former players btw...

Probably just a coincidence.

Rafa has a degree in physical education. The argument that he is causing the injuries is non sense. He's never ever had this many injuries in his other teams. If it was his methods, it would have happened like this elsewhere.

Inter have NOT looked good at any point this season. Rafa's high defensive line screwed us over against spurs and in other games, something that has been proven NOT to work since both Mourinho and Mancini tried it with the same results, with the same defenders while they were younger, great homework by your fat friend there huh?

Revisionist non sense. Until the Tottenham return match Inter were fine and played some exquisite football at times. In the last few weeks the wheels have fallen off though but considering the enormous injury list that is understandable.

We seem not to have been watching the same Inter this season! Inter had only one and a half really good game(s) this season and that was all in CL. In Serie A we struggled even when we were winning! Exquisite football my arse...

Good games from Inter this season.

Bari
Werder
Spurs first half
Twente first half

Other than those, we've been crap or utter crap. Results and stats speak for themselves also.

Wasnt it Liverpool fans claiming they only finished 7th because of injuries?
