Pretty much why Man Utd signed RVN despite an injury. They postponed the transfer for a season, when they could have cancelled it iirc

They don't make them like this anymore :)

Luc Nilis, one of the best Belgian players ever who was never appreciated by Belgium.

Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooij both called him their best striker partner.

Van Nistelrooij was a pure beast though, Netherlands really was a force to be reckoned with, having strikers like Ruud, Van Persie, Kluivert, Bergkamp, ...

No reason to be ashamed, as I said, he wasn't even valued by Belgium, but in NL he won the golden boot in 95, the year the young Ajax team won the treble, and Ronaldo at PSV if I'm not mistaken so that's saying a lot about his qualities.

"Lucky" Luc was one phenomenal player who got far too little out of his career. Perfect 2 feet, only scored absolute beauties. Perfect partnership with both Ronaldo and RVN.

The season before Ronaldo moved to Barcelona they played against PSV. But Ronaldo didn't feature.

Anyway, enjoy:

Now imagine Ronaldo playing in those series. Against Barcelona.

Oh and then come with a straight face and tell me that the Bosman rule didn't destroy the sport...

What went wrong so quickly with Lippi at Inter?

So many things really. He wanted to make too many changes too fast. Forcing Bergomi to retire, selling Pagliuca and Simeone. His bad relationship with some players, especially with Baggio. Early injury of Ronaldo.

But i am sure there are others older than me who will give you even more details about that period.

He was more or less an asshole. He mistreated Pagliuca, Baggio and others. He brought his old favourites from Juventus days, who were already on downside. Vieri was a beast, but Ronaldo basically played on one leg until his brutal injuries.
From what I remember, my impression was that he never was on the same page with Moratti and co. Like, they never sit down to put a plan for a few seasons to build a proper team.
In retrospect, I believe it was a mistake to sack him so early. He should have received to whole second year to build a team. The year was lost anyway with Zaccheroni.

Zaccheroni was after Cuper and before Mancini, in 2003/04. After Lippi Moratti brought that clown Tardelli who is remembered for the humiliating loss to Milan.

Respect is earned so can't ignore this Maldini video. One of the greatest players of all time that our cousins got to enjoy exclusively.

My favorite Brazil team, and possibly the best since the 1986 World Cup at least.

Ronaldo in his prime, Rivaldo at his peak, Roberto Carlos in his prime, Cafu in his prime, Ronaldinho emerging, Alex in his prime, Emerson in his prime, Vampeta as an actual football player, Amoroso at his best, Serginho in his prime before becoming a cunt at Milan, Flavio Conceicao in his prime, Zago in his prime, Ze Roberto entering his prime, Christian having the time of his life before the PSG move, Evanilson emerging... so much talent there and some of the world's best amongst them!

1990 squad wasn't great, let's be honest.
1994 squad won, but honestly it feels underwhelming.
1998 squad was solid but heavily reliant on Ronaldo. Had problems with the center backs and lacked creativity overall.
2002 wasn't as deep honestly but the Lucio and Edmilson duo at the back was key to enable a deep run.
2006 had great names but none of them was at their best, apart from Kaka. Ronaldinho was quite disappointing I recall.
None that came after was proper Brazil, they ruined them. They need to reset to factory settings if they want to win another World Cup.

I also liked the 2005 team in the Confederations Cup a lot.

It's crazy to think that out of the favorites (Italy, Germany, Brazil, France) there was also this underdog. Not sure if underdog is the right word. But this Spain was basically the same one who won the world cup 4 years later. Almost all players were still young in that year. Ramos, Iniesta, Xavi. Hard to find such a talented underdog these days. Having more then 2 favorites is already difficult if you ask me. We had great times with great players. Germany who was always a threat for everyone and always advanced to the semifinal or final. Italy with a rock solid defence and always having great talents, like Baggio, like Totti, Del Piero... about Brazil i don't even start talking, they had amazing players, especialy before 2006.
Really miss this times! People born after the 90 have missed a lot of things, not sure if we can ever compare this times with todays football really.
