Can anybody remember why the hell, the yet to become the best LB in the history left us in 1996? Did we at least get good money?

Roy Hudgson didn't want him here :p

Bought him for 3.5m in 1995, sold him for 6m in 1996. Maybe that is why Real Madrid is still giving us good deals today (Figo, Cambiasso, Sneijder, etc.) :p

Hodgson wanted him to play as a lw, carlos wanted to play as lb. Hence why he left.

I think we paid closer to 20m for Samuel and 20m in 2005 is different than 20m in 2011. It ended up being worth every penny, but it just wasn't the amazing deal the others were...

Of course not! He became a legend in Madrid, not in Inter.

Roberto Carlos came to my mind when the rumors started circulating about Real Madrid being interested in Murillo. We will probably sell him after a single season too and thereby lose one of the greatest defenders for the future. Once again.

jrg(nsn), i think you're being a bit unfair with that.

moratti may not have valued carlos highly enough to turn down his request to leave and change the coach, but those are very different circumstances (despite having little patience for young players and being terribly run we wouldve probably kept carlos had he not made an ultimatum given that he was one of our best players) and in any case a lack of patience isn't why we're selling murillo. its not "he's not good enough", it's more about getting disproportionate amounts of money for him from teams like real madrid. murillo isnt worth 35 mill. at the same time, i think the people behind this club are stubborn enough to not accept 35 mill, but placing outside the top 3 and our transfer plans could change that.

also, murillo cant be compared to carlos in terms of talent. i dont think hes one of the best young defenders, hes turning 24 in 4 months. zouma, umtiti, varane, stones, maksimovic, laporte, gimenez, rugani, marquinhos, mustafi, de vrij are all the same age or younger and better than him. manolas is only a year older. i think he's really overrated by most inter fans and it wouldnt be that hard to find a replacement. he has the potential to be one of the best in his position, but he still needs a lot of work (and good coaching and competition that he may not even get here)

Amazing set piece.

The ball boy to the right of the goal literally started to duck thinking the ball was coming his way.

After 1 year and 4 months from this post, and I can safely say that we don't have to worry about that anymore.

i'll admit it's a bit far-fetched, but... could it be that this was the actual reason why moratti decided to sell him? cause i've been wondering for, like, 20 years why we sold roberto carlos.

i mean, maybe this was something that people suspected back then and moratti might have chosen to get rid of him for this reason.

the Brazilian physician Alves told that he "treated" his tights since the age of 15.

it'd be nice to think that, but i really doubt it. Dont forget we had Kallon, for example, who doped while he was at Inter... I'm sure there are others.
