No comparison between them. Gaglia in some games looks like a classic old cope DM who periodically does his midfield duties. We should demand way more than that. Atalanta's finest my ass.

Vecino on the other hand may not seem so flashy but he s fuckin everywhere, he s a fighter neither great at defending skills and any creative ideas but he offers so much. He has the football badassery on.

Gags and Vecino were both fine yesterday...wtf people?! It's not their jobs to do the play-making...they defended well and pushed the ball forward...it's the final third who did NOTHING

CANDREVA,MARIO,BROZO,BORJA,PERISIC AND ICARDI(he tried smth but it's hard if 5 people around you are fucking incapable of smth right)

then if a player can't put away some great clear cut chances...

well when Borja came in we started to move the ball better around but...then we were punished on the counter...because with Gags we lost the mf balance and domination!

unlucky maybe but even more...I dunno inept and without any will to do well...so frustrating

They are midfielders. Their job is to create just as much as it is to defend. You can't just push the ball forward and then not care what happens with it. They need to do a better job, just as our AM.

I still struggle to see more positives than negatives in his game. Really overrated.

I wonder if playing alongside Vecino is affecting him. He has been somewhat disappointing but he was a lot more confident in himself last season and had more to his game as well. He made runs into the box a lot more, and I remember in the first few weeks that he came, there were arguments he wasn't a good finisher but he had so many chances in the opponent's box.

He has a different role this season and I agree he hasn't been as good. I still want to see him stay as I think he's a talented player.

I like Gagliardini but I kind of worry about class vs form with him. Is he really the player we saw last year? Or was he just in very good form having been discovered by Gasperini. Let’s be honest his career before last year was as a bit part player in Serie B

I think he only needs a rest and a confidence boost. The whole team needs a confidence boost as well.

I believe playing with Vecino has messed him up. They more often then not end up covering the same player without noticing because they are identical players. I think Gags needs to play much deeper (in front of the back 4). They both aren't the greatest runners so having them play side by side is actually bad, as they give up a lot of room (duo to their brain dead coverage). When Gags played with Kdog, either one was pushing up the field while the other sat back to cover, and they NEVER double covered.

I don't like Vecino nor Valero, I don't find them good enough as, 1 commits way to many fouls and loses the ball far to much, and the other runs out of gas after 40 mins of running, and lacks creativity.

Honestly the reason he's not as good as last year is because he isn't being played in his role. He's not a defensive midfielder or a ''regista''. He's a box to box player. He was a huge threat when he first came with his runs into the box and shots from outside. He's not given the offensive freedom under spalletti and he's mostly asked to stay back.

He's being exposed defensively because that's not his best quality. That's why he thrived with kondogbia as kondogbia was doing all the dirty work for him.

I feel like every midfielder in our team (except Valero) is best suited for a 4-3-3, yet here we are.

he could have had 2 assists if Icardi didn't manage to screw it up...right before their goal(where the pen wasn't given...ok) and right after...he had some fine interceptions today, that one leading to a deadly counter where Icardi was off balance. Icardi had 3 gold chances he wasted tbh.Ok they weren't easy but in better form he could score all of them tbh.

but nah,nah Gags was shit right...useless even

Honestly i thought he was complete trash again and everyone on here is being too nice. Weak on the ball, very slow decision making, poor misplaced passes and above everything else he stands statically waiting for it to come to him. Ball was intercepted twice in the first half and i can't remember if it was Skriniar or Miranda chucking their arms up when he was dispossessed without moving towards the ball about 10 metres inside our own half. I agree he is being made to track back a LITTLE bit more but it really shouldn't make him the most dispensable player on the park because imo today he was and i was glad to see him subbed out. Was the first step towards a better overall team coherency.

I think every midfielder except Gagliardini is better suited to a 4-3-3. Valero doesn't really fit the 2 or the AM in a 4-2-3-1 in my opinion. I have a feeling we are going to find the same thing out about Rafinha in a couple of weeks.

Gagliardini hasn't really played in a traditional 3 man midfield with two CMs. Even at Atalanta they played a flat 2. The most worrying thing about him is his slowness on the ball, which is really something that is not positional. I mean should he be the deepest player receiving the ball from our back 4? No, and that will help not to put him in dangerous situations like today. But the fact he still can't get the ball off when under pressure even when he's facing play (back to our goal) is worrying. He just looks very heavy on the pitch and slow footed.

Agreed.

When he first came, everyone was talking about how long it would take for him to score, but that's because he had so many chances with long shots or runs into the box. Now, he's never even in that position. At the end of the day, he's too similar to Vecino to play with him. They both need to play with someone who can better protect our defence.

Gagliardini is too slow and loses balls in really dangerous positions.

I dont know what the fuck is wrong with you, but he was totally shit today.

I’m a huge fan of Gagliardini and I liked him a lot last season, but he was totally shit today and was out of his mind. I still refuse to think he is a shit player, I know he can do better than this.
