I can’t believe he will get Nazionale and I cannot believe he’s in Grande Inter. What a lucky man.

I think for a lot of us, he popped our cherry (Scudetto) and for that reason, even if he's a whiny bitch in the later years of the relationship, he's still memorable. :)

He's the right man for the National Team job given it's current state. He'll right the ship.

Mancini will do jackshit with Italy. He has no tactics to start with. Worst Inter manager in the last 10 years.

FIGC should re hire Prandelli. At least he had an idea what to do with his players.

Lol this was something of obvious when ancelotti said he does not want the job. Was clear that they re gonna go for a big name and only him and qncelotti were available!

15 years.

As for Nazionale, he might be a good fit because he has no ability to ask for transfers but he will simply pick those he wants. Not many of his pals are still playing anymore and he hasn't coached that many Italians recently so the bias element will be reduced. I trust he'll do a decent job and the Italian generation he'll coach is on par with the best teams of Europe (minus the depth), so who knows?

It's hard to say how he'll do in the qualification stage, but I don't see Italy being contenders in the long run with him at the helm.

I'll be very surprised if he can even choose the squad without the whole Italy facepalming at some of his choices.

I do wish him all the luck tho, just that he doesn't coach Inter anymore.

I think he'll do a superb job picking the best squad available and then picking a formation that will actually allow said players to flourish (i.e. letting Insigne play as a winger). Tactically he won't have a clue, as per usual, but that's okay. You don't need tactical superiority to beat Finland and the Faroe Islands in a Euro Qualification Group, you just need to not shoot yourself in the foot.

Mancini needs to come in and stop the bleeding. We can't even think about winning a tournament right now.

Also, I'm very optimistic this means Balotelli might be back.

Fixed that for you, increased the size too so you would see it.

Ibra played 7 years in Italy, maybe he can find a way to give him citizenship.

On a serious note I can see him playing

His starting eleven will comprise 2 centerbacks, 2 non attacking fullbacks, 4 defensive midfielders, Insigne which will be played as defensive winger, and Eder to close down opponents' backline. Immobile and Balo will be played when they are trailing behind.

Compared to some past choices FIGC has made, Mancini is a big improvement on the likes of Ventura, Di Biagio and Donadoni. The bias against Mancini on this forum is a bit silly, but FIF always likes to scapegoat the coach (unless you win the treble).

That said, Mancini may not suit the rebuilding process specially because Italy lacks the kind of players he usually needs - the kind of players who can physically dominate the midfield for example. Someone like Sarri may have been the best fit for an Azzurri revolution.

Tactically, I can see Mancini playing a 4-3-3 with attacking wingers. But in the midfield is where his biggest problem lies as the likes of Verratti, Cristante or Pellegrini may not suit his style, we will probably see more players like Jorginho, Parolo, Barella or even Gagliardini.

Mancini is one of the main reasons Inter did bad in the Europe, not to mention the large amount of terrible players he signed and played and his bias towards certain players, questionable subs, tactics and starting players. He is a coach who i thought would improve after Lazio and Fiorentina and all of us while we do appreciate the league wins, as time told we were right.

With Italy, he is off-course among the best choices, good thing is that he cant sign anyone for Italy.
