Feel like he needs his own thread. Would be a solid addition on the left side :slick:

Inter will try to sign Atalanta left wing back Robin Gosens, even if the deal will be hard to come by, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are looking to strengthen their left wing back position this summer and have been considering many options, like Emerson Palmieri, Marcos Alonso, Kostic and Junior Firpo. Gosens, however, is the Milanese club’s top choice.

Inter have a good relationship with Atalanta, the report continues, and for the last three summers the two teams have done business. The Bergamo based club are interested in Italian teenager Sebastiano Esposito, and although the Nerazzurri don’t want to give him up permanently, the player could be included in a possible deal. It may be difficult to find a deal but the Nerazzurri will try regardless. Gosens has made 32 appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring nine goals and providing six assists in that time.

So now we are opening threads based on Tuttosport? Or only when it fits to our preferences? ;)

IMO he's just like any other LWB we've linked to at this point.

Sorry but closed.

It seems that we have agreed terms with the player, it's up to Atalanta and our management now.

When is he returning to action?

Way too much money for a guy who is technical very limited and mostly benefits from his hard-working. We have that same type on the other side whereas Dumfries is faster and stronger.

I really hope that it is just a rumour to bring Frankfurt to lower their price for Kostic. For the rumoured fee Gosens is a hard pass imho.

Atalanta wants a sum north of 30m, we're offering 25m after a loan+ deal.

No clue what his salary would be, but I expect it's going to be over 2.5m per year.

My opinion on Gosens from defenders thread.

Gosens has pros and cons compared to Kostic and Angelino.

Pros:

  • He's Serie A proven. For me it isn't that important as long as the quality is there but for some people it's golden.
  • He's more balanced than Kostic and Angelino which could allow Bastoni to continue joining the attack while it could be an issue with the other two
  • High contribution in attack in the right system
  • Brings athletism which we badly lack
Cons:
  • A Gasperini player with everything that entails
  • lacks in creativity and technique compared to other two
  • injury prone
I think his performances with Germany in the last Euro could give us a better perspective about Gosens. When Portugal gave him space, he was devastating and tore their defence apart. But when Hungary pressed high, he was shit and he couldn't beat opponents on 1vs1. Another issue i have with Gosens is he looks to me closer to Dumfries than Perisic. He may have many assists but he isn't a creator and i think we need a creator on the left side. Atalanta were mostly starting their attacks from the right with Hateboer and Gosens found himself in advantageous positions due to the system.

Gazzetta report today Atalanta want 35m for Gosens. That's insane money for Gosens. We could get Bremer and Kostic with the same sum. We shouldn't make a panic buy as a response to Juve getting Vlahovic. If money wasn't an issue i would go for Angelino who's 3 years younger. If we have limited funds, which is probably the case, better sign Kostic at a low cost and spend big on attack.

If the prices are as rumoured (Gosens 25-30mil, Kostic 10-15mil) I'd take Kostic but Gosens is by no means a bad option either.

Just a reminder that Kostic also takes up a non-EU spot.

Gosens is fine, whatever. I just don't get the rush to sign him now. If we're worried about competition in the summer who cares, there's other options. But on a very limited budget we have far bigger needs right now than an injured lwb

Gosens looks like great transfer but I'm worried how he will be after the injury. It's a risky move for me.

I think the logic is to get someone before everyone really really knows we need someone there, and then Perisic becomes available as an attacker.

I actually think a midfielder should be our biggest priority.
