Played ok today, still lacking in being an attacking force. That being said, like him starting.

I don't get why we try to play as if he's Perisic. We should play with Gosens like we play with Dumfries, play balls to him for empty space, play crosses to the backpost.

Our midfield obviously dont trust him,they decline to pass the ball to him when he moves forward between lines. They just feed Dumfries over and over and over.

Is that the issue though? Whenever anyone passes to Gosens, he would just do a backpass to Bastoni. Dumfries would lose the ball half the time but at least he tries moving it forward. I don't expect Gosens to dribble past players but can he at least run? Tbh I'd rather have Dimarco on the left flank until we found a solution to integrate him into our game plan. Right now he's not that much different from Gagliardini - great guy but just ineffective on the pitch.

Both him and Miki looked lost in the system. It doesn’t help Gosens that they’re playing on the same side of the pitch.

Exactly. Noticed several times yesterday how he made runs behind the defence line and our midfield is simply not passing to him.

We need on Hakan spot player like Eriksen if we want Gosens to shine. Who knows to pass and cross in a heartbreat when Gosens runs behind defence of opponent. Sadly we have no player in midfield like that.

Yeah, sadly that's true. Brozovic doesn't have the ability to spot those runs AND execute a pass quickly enough.

That why it's so strange from Inzaghi to give Gosens not consistent playing time. I have the feeling this guy needs much playing time and confidence where someone like Perisic just plays his own game no matter what.

I don't think it's that he's forgotten how to play football, it's just that he doesn't have a clue how to play Inzaghibol.

Inzaghibol seems to be something akin to - have you ever seen the movie "Team America: World Police"? That arm-waving thing they do to show shock, is similar to what I think is going on in the players heads as they each try to coordinate our "tactics".

Does this mean we have to wait for Darmian, D'Ambro, Dimarco, and Bellanova to be unavailable to see him, only for him to then have a revitalising moment against a rival which propels him to the starting 11 for the second half of the season?

At least there was a sliver of logic behind Eriksen benching. It could be rationalized such as still needed adaptation, not defensive or physical enough. And above all, the best justification was Conte still delivered victories so fans could still accept it.
Gosens' case doesn't make sense at all. When you compare him with Darmian or Dimarco, the former wins in almost every aspect of football. The only exception is delivery quality where Dimarco is undisputedly the best. But that's it and by overall, Gosens is still our best LWB by considerable margin. He is one of a prominent LWB in the world, he plays in a familiar system like in Atalanta, it is almost 1 year already since he arrived here and he trained together a lot. There is no adaption and integration excuse anymore. Even when we do not play to his strength, his other qualities are still better than his 2 competitors. Now that we are in shamble, Inzaghi will endure bigger pressure breathing down his neck when the result does not improve while the better player is kept on the bench.
