it was a joke mate

Anyway, Gosens will not offer the same threat as Perisic. Gosens keeps the ball on the ground a lot more and is more one dimensional than Perisic - who is considered himself by many to be one-dimensional.

If you told me 3 years ago that gosens would be a downgrade from Perisic I'd laugh at your face but here we are.

Gosens is still a very solid LWB and his short cameos he's produced a few moments of brilliance, I just wish Inzaghi would have played him more but looking forward to an injury free gosens next season.

He won't be. He could be even an upgrade over Perisic.

What makes people worried about replacing Perisic with Gosens is their recent memory of Perisic having a solid season and Gosens losing almost the whole season because of injury and then being benched for the former.

If his injury woes is over I think we don't need to worry about losing Perisic. But that question remains to be answered.

Even till last summer people would have easily taken Gosens over Perisic and he was considered one of the best lwb of the league, if not the best. If you go back to pre June 2021, when we had the delusion this club could still spend money, you will find many posts on this forum asking for Gosens. Ivan just really elevated his game last season and he was the best lwb of the league. So anyone would look like a downgrade let alone a guy who barely played.

I still think most of the Perisic drive and form for this season was cause he was out of contract and he fitted perfectly to Inzaghi style of football. Also Hakan worked his socks off this season and was good partner next to Perisic.

But I’m eager to see what can Gosens do under Simone and can he improve under him?

Now is his time. Hope he will live up to the expectation because the bar is high thank to Perisic and his season.

the thing to remember, too, perisic is getting older. we're talking about a guy who would be 35 by the end of this new contract. Renewing/extending him would be such a classic Inter thing to do, and then having to golden handshake him in a year if he doesnt perform or something

It feels bad, esp on a bosman, but where we are financially etc it is probably the right dfecision lets be honest.

Starter LB for Germany one of the best national teams. I have not much doubts he will do good.

Need midfield depth what the vecino and Vidal at a minimum leaving, and his salary is less than half?

A big and smart team would try a youngster, look at Barcelona or Madrid. But i guess that's why they win more things than us.

Considering our allegedly best midfielder of the last decade in the shape of crisetig is like a serie C level player we aren't exactly producing Gavi atm.

Right now we only have Gags and Sensi as midfield backup - if the only other option is Casedei we are fucked

First of all he is not shit compared to Perisic. Perisic is more straightforward in his actions. Mkhitaryan can mixed it up a bit more. He can play CM, LB, Center, RB. But Mkhitaryan is not coming as Pericic replacement. I have no idea why you keep talking down on him, like he is nobody. He will be useful at least in half of the games, good rotational player, support for Barella, Chalanoglu, Gossen, etc.

If we got Mkhiki when he was 28 or even 29 I would say great. His football is not problem, his age is. If we sign him for one year thats ok but two years??Cmon... We fucked up with Dzeko and Vidal and are continuing same shit. Thats the fukenn problem here.

Yeah, but if he was 28, the transfer fee would have been 30-40 mil. This way is a short solution, some depth and support for the club. He never had major injury, so 2 seasons should be ok in Serie A.

This, pretty much.

It sucks to lose Perisic, but (for once) management appropriately planned for it. We signed the best alternative in the league. Gosens is ready to start for us, and letting Perisic leave is fiscally responsible.

The problem is everything else that's going on at the club. Signing Mkhitaryan, who is injury prone and fading. Selling a star player, like Bastoni.
