There are many things he can contribute, the lay offs, win the ball aerially, go wide and feed the ball to the middle. There is quite a bit of intelligence in his game.

His execution is slightly off, but the idea is there.

I said when I joined he will eat defenders once he starts running. His work in the channels is very underrated. Once his team mates realise he will kill defenders down channels they will get the pass to him quicker. His good crossing was also on show.

People dismissing his goal as a defensive mistake and rebound but he helped create that chance with his link-up play with Lautaro. I'm looking forward to see what they can do together.

He did more work in the build up play than Icardi for the whole season last year, but to be fair Icardi didn't play since february :trolldad:

Adriano was definitely a beast in his prime. I'm not denying that, and Lukaku was never that and he probably will never be that. All I said is that he "reminds me" of some of his moves when he was full speed in 1-on-1 with defenders, not that he is Adriano of his prime. Relax.
I got Adriano vibes too. I honestly thought that.
when he had the ball and was running at a defender at a moment in the game I thought of adriano when he scored the famous dribble from halfway line goal. I don't know exactly why I felt that, but I think it might be that the defender looked shit scared seeing this guy running at him

I said it before and I repeat myself: Lukaku is a better overall player than Icardi. It was such a joy to finally see a forward again to contribute more in a game. He created a lot with his movements, dribbled passed multiple defenders in crowded areas.... Of course it was just Lecce, but still. Best Icardi would have done is win us a free kick in midfield after receiving the first ball for a counter :work:

Btw I loved that he showed Lautaro where to run in 2 occasions and that he celebrated his goals with Esposito. Seems like he already is well integrated into the team :epicwin:

Good that he scored on his debut, first goal is always very important, getting that monkey off the back.

He was great, loved watching him but please please stop these Adriano vibes. Adriano was a monster pace wise, technically and ability wise.

Welcome big man :)
Finally managed to see him but tbh leces defenders were too scare of him to be able to make a proper judgement. The real test will be vs Chielini other than that we can already give some judgements:

Cons:
*Ok people were right, his 1st touch is horrible :D. I had never noticed this before but it was quite clear. Basically we have to take for certain that half of his 1st touches will be wrong and half will be ok. But man, in that 2nd half he can create havoc.
*Too heavy , it was visible when he wanted to reach on candrevas cross. He basically elevated for like 2 cm from ground which is ridiculous. Now , since i dont follow PL i don't know if he can improve on this or not but if he wants to score any header in serie a he needs to get lighter. You can't pretend for the ball to reach your head ffs
*Needs to shoot more. I appreciate the generosity but he had many chances where it would have been better for him to shoot rather then pass to lautaro.

Pros:
*A beast on counter attack. Luckily for us there is a new vibe on new italian coaches where they are inspired by the likes of guardiola/sarri so all think they can make their team play good possession football with high defensive lines even though they train the likes of fucking lece or brescia. I had a boring sunday so i watched almost all the matches , the only team which was closing in defense was Udinese (trained by a CB like tudor btw), all the others were trying to play football so this means Lukaku will fuck them up
*Huge presence in the link up play. He was always asking for the ball when we were building on possession. This is exactly what makes him better overall then Icardi for us
*Great power, speed and technical ability (aside of 1st touch) which means that you can exploit him in various ways
*Just 2 weeks with the team and already a great presence in the pitch.

It felt weird. After years of having Icardi as the main man upfront, I forgot what it felt like to have a centre forward who could run at defenders, terrorizing them endlessly throughout the game. Yeah, he's no Luis Nazario de Lima, Adriano, Ibrahimovic, or Eto'o. These guys possessed technical qualities that Lukaku could only dream of. But still, Lukaku kind of reminds me of what it feels like to have such an active, highly involved forward to lead the attack. What I really like about Lukaku though is his unselfishness. Always made himself available for his team mates, always tried to find his team mates. He surprised me with his decent crossing ability too. All in all, a solid debut for someone who missed the majority of the pre-season preparation.

No offense to Icardi, but it sure felt so refreshing to see us play with a striker like Lukaku. We attacked from all directions. Left, right, middle. Maybe it's nothing spectacular but as in the past few years, we had been fed with this mundane "spam those retarded crosses to Icardi" type of football, it's difficult to not feel excited even by the slightest presence of proper watchable football.

Of course it was just Lecce and the first competitive game of Lukaku. It's still too early to get all excited yet. Things might change as quickly as the very next game when Lukaku struggles and has a shitty game. I hope not. Forza Lukaku, Forza Inter.

God United fans are being disgustingly toxic under any of his social media posts. Makes me a bit ill.

Started off very nervously, his second half was a lot better but he did get tired/slow towards the end. I'm sure he's not there yet, but if they really get him to lose a little bit of weight, he could be worth the money. Until then I think he'll be kinda off against the next few opponents.

A compliment from Wallace? I'm sold on Lukaku.

Honestly he's not the most graceful of forwards but when he starts running you feel that something's gonna happen and when he dropped that defender when he started running I was seeing a little bit of Adriano in him. Very excited about Lukaku and I think there's an upside to him.

Conte pointed out that we bought him for 65 million which will be paid in 5 years, great deal by Beppe.

Yes, but this one didn't sound sarcastic so it's a first.

I liked how defenders just bounced off of him.
Him vs. Koulibaly will be practically a wrestling match.

Well, sarcasm is ingrained in readers’ head, not the writer in this case.

I can tell you I am more hyped about Sensi than anything, even got his jersey.

Yeah I'm very excited by Sensi, I'm just excited about having a midfield that can keep the ball although we didnt do that too well last night but I really think we missed de Vrij who can play the ball excellently out of defence.
